Issue: Trouble during payment process

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: After being on a COVID relief plan for 18 months, I was presented by USBank with the option of extending payment deferments. I opted to continue for an additional month at which time I inquired about resuming payments. I was informed that I would then need to submit a loan modification application, which I thought was part of the normal procedures associated with COVID relief. After numerous phone calls, I was informed that the application was under review with an underwriter and a decision was pending. After a total of 2 months, I was given a letter stating that my only option was to pursue a short sale. It was not my intention or desire to lose my home after being on the COVID relief plan. It was never made clear that by extending beyond the 18 month deferment, that I would now be under Loss Mitigation, and would not be eligible for the protections provided by the Relief Plan. The only option provided other than the Short Sale was to make a Reinstatement Payment of approximately {$100000.00}.

Issue: Trouble during payment process

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: My mortgage lender or processor is US Bank Home Mortgage. I live in the XXXX of Massachusetts. I routinely pay more than is due every month because I am trying to eliminate my mortgage debt before I retire. I will be XXXX in XXXX. I have the mortgage statement that I received on XXXX XXXX. It shows that the principal due is {$1600.00}, the interest due is {$270.00} and the escrow due is {$1100.00} for local taxes and insurance. The statement shows that the outstanding principal balance is {$82000.00} and the interest rate on the fixed rate mortgage is 3.95 %. I looked at the way that my last payment of {$11000.00} was applied. The payment was for the month of XXXX and my check was received on XXXX XXXX by US Bank. The XXXX XXXX statement shows that {$580.00} was paid in interest for XXXX. There has never been any delinquency. If we owe {$270.00} in interest in XXXX, why did we pay {$580.00} in XXXX? If I take the outstanding principal balance and multiply it by 3.95 % and divide by XXXX the amount is {$270.00}, the amount on the XXXX statement. How could it have been {$580.00} in XXXX? The statement shows that the bank collected {$290.00} for XXXX and {$290.00} for XXXX. Those months had not occurred yet on XXXX XXXX. Interest is the amount I owe for borrowing the principal amount for a given period, one month. How could I owe interest for months that had not happened? How could the bank know what the principal balance would be in XXXX when I had not made my XXXX payment yet? It is my intention to pay {$15000.00}. If the amount is not interest, what is it? I understand that the XXXX does not allow pre-payment penalties. Is this a pre-payment penalty? When I discussed this matter with the bank, their response made no sense to me. I want the bank to collect the interest that it is due for the money that I have borrowed for time periods that have actually occurred. The rest has to be applied to principal. I feel that I have been cheated. I believe that the tax form that was sent to me for last year by the bank showing my interest deduction was not accurate. The interest owed is only 3.95 % of the weighted average outstanding principal.

Issue: Trouble using the card

Subissue: Trouble getting information about the card

Consumer Complaint: I was given a brand new prepaid gift card for my birthday, last year. I placed in my drawer with several others. Decided to use it yesterday. Tried to activate it on the website, but the website is no good. Called and was told the card was registered to someone else after providing the number. Did a 3-way call with the purchaser. She confirmed the card had not been used, she no longer had the receipt but had gotten a call from someone else she purchased a gift card from this company. Same problem. I requested information to substantiate their clam and they could provide none. They wanted my personal information, which I absolutely would not provide. They began disconnecting the call every time I phoned back. My friend is out of a {$100.00} and I have a useless gift card. This company is fraudulent. www.prepaidgiftbalance.com - XXXX What can be done?

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals

Consumer Complaint: During past week, I was mailed a letter informing me that a certificate of ownership was needed in order to maintain the account... .this account has been in force since XXXX. We have never been asked for a certificate, although I was actually discussing this account with bank managers as late as XX/XX/XXXX. This letter was so urgent that my account was scheduled to be locked on XX/XX/XXXX -- -- the same day i received a very non descript letter from us bank -- -- ( i think if i had a customer with a {$360000.00} acct, I would send them a registered letter to indicate this urgent situation ). XXXX, i was on the phone with a XXXX XXXX who informed me i need to complete the certification form and sent to his e mail He would then expedite the info to have the acct opened. By this time I am begging him to allow my payroll to go through In 30 years of business, I have never had a paycheck bounce. It is very demeaning and humiliating to have staff bring me a bad check. XXXX later stated the form was wrong because I Iisted a person who is not an owner Although this is my account -- -i can list who I want! I corrected the errors and removed the extra name. I was told by XXXX XXXX that the form looks good and was to be expedited for reopening the acct. She later found something wrong, I corrected, and talked to XXXX XXXX who swore he had done his due diligence and the form would be expedited to team who would open the account On Monday, the XXXX, I called to verify the release, as I am still getting calls about checks not clearing. i was told by XXXX XXXX that I didnt send the back of the form although I have e mails indicating that i sent complete form There was a issue that i did not write, XXXX XXXX XXXX Mo XXXX in a small area that asks for STREET ADDRESS. Just above that address, i had written the complete address including zip So what we have is a bunch of nit picking when my paychecks are bouncing. Furthermore, this account has been active since XXXX!!!!!!

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I pulled my credit report on XX/XX/2021 and sent a notice and pulled it again on XX/XX/XXXX and noticed an auto loan that is being reported. This auto loan is categorized as an " experience '' I initially had with XXXX XXXX of XXXX XXXX and then with US Bank so reporting it publicly to XXXX, XXXX and XXXX is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), because they werent involved in this private matter, and this is a violation specifically of 15 USC 1681a ( 2 ) ( a ) ( i ). Because Ive already sent a previous notice to the furnisher or creditor, this is also a violation of 15 USC 1681s-2 : responsibilities of furnishers of information to consumer reporting agencies.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers

Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2020 I have received a marketing offer ( attached ) for a business visa card that requires a spending threshold of {$7500.00} in first 120 days to receive a {$750.00} bonus. I applied for the card and received it. However the credit limit was set at {$1000.00} making the threshold meet impossible. I have contacted the XXXX of the card at the bank and ask for either increase of the credit limit to {$8000.00} so the spending threshold can be met or transfer my credit limit from other existing credit card that I have with US bank that has currently {$0.00} balance. The staff at the US bank refused and the supervisor at the bank XXXX informed me that he's not authorized to address this issue. Here is the bottom line : it appears that the US Bank sent me an offer in bad faith as it has sent the credit limit purposefully low so the offer 's spending benchmark can not be met.

Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account

Subissue: Transaction was not authorized

Consumer Complaint: My case number is XXXX. XX/XX/22 a person with a fake ID went into US bank in XXXX XXXX, IA XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and cashed a check for {$2300.00} then two days later that same person cashed a check for {$4000.00}. My wife noticed that my savings account was negative {$270.00}. I contacted fraud department as soon as my wife told me. The person I contacted told me that someone had access to my savings account and cleaned out my account. We immediately closed my account and opened another. I told the person that my family had a trip to Texas planned in XXXX and I was remodeling my bathroom that was what that money was for. He told me not to worry They will put the money back in my account. He told me it would take around two weeks. He also told me that this is happening to his bank a lot right now and not to worry about it. Two weeks came and went and no Money. I called back and the person I contacted told me I had to file a police report. I called the XXXX Police and told them my identity and savings account info was being use. Two more weeks went by and no money. I called the XXXX police department and they told me that US bank would not work with them. I had to file the report with the police from XXXX XXXX IA. I contacted the police in IA. The police officer took my info and started a new case. I contacted US bank and they gave me a web site to send my info to get my money back. XXXX. I tried to access the web site to finally get my money back. This site leads me to an unrelated site that is not helping me. I had to put my entire vacation and bathroom remodel on my credit card and put me over my limit. I'm a union carpenter this drain in my account forced me to take a job out of my area. I had to drive over a XXXX miles a day so I would be able to pay my bills. This has cost me a lot more then {$6300.00} dollars. I think I should be compensated for the strain this has put on me and my family. The sad part is that the thief never had my account info they simply used a fake ID to cash two checks in my name and the bank simply took the money out of my savings to correct their mistake. The very nice police office that has been helping me with my case is XXXX XXXX
