Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount
Consumer Complaint: On Tuesday, XX/XX/2021, I received a collection call from Lightstream ( A division of SunTrust Bank/ now Truist ). During this call, the agent committed numerous violations of my consumer rights. During this call, after I disputed the validity of the alleged debt, the agent informed me further collection activities would continue. I told her tat would be a violation. I told her they have 5 days to send me validation of the alleged debt. Today ( XX/XX/2021 ) is the 6th business after the initial call and I've yet to receive any response, which violates 15 usc 1692g ( a ). On XX/XX/2021, I sent them ( SunTrust Bank ) a cautionary notice and invoice for those violations I found. I need them to provide me with all documentary materials related to my consumer credit transaction.

Issue: Trouble during payment process
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2021, I experienced an issue with my mortgage payment. As a result, I failed to make the month 's payment, but upon notification, I paid it immediately and kept the mortgage current. In XXXX of XXXX1, I we served a legal notice unrelated to this issue by my ex-wife. In the document, reference was made to my payment history, including the event mentioned above, as well as the exact payoff, etc. This contemporary information would only be available with access to my account. I realized then with Suntrust 's automated phone system, with my social security and property zip code, anyone could access my account for protected financial information. This access is available to my employer, creditors, educational institutions, and any other entity with access that data. In talking with Suntrust, they stated there is nothing they could do to resolve or prevent future access by any unauthorized person. I even offered a current post office zip code which is different, but they stated it had to be the same as the property location. The customer service representative told me not to worry that many people have this problem. After demanding to speak with a manager, he stated he would research it and contact me today. I have not heard from them and my personal information remains exposed.

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low
Subissue: Overdrafts and overdraft fees
Consumer Complaint: It appears Truist manipulated debit purchases to hammer me with overdraft fees. I went to bed last night with a balance of {$80.00} in my checking account. Some transactions were still pending however my balance already reflected what was already taken from my account. When I woke up I checked my account and It was overdrafted by {$2.00} however they charged me XXXX in overdraft fees. This isnt the first time Ive assumed something shady has happened. I strongly believe Truist like many other banks manipulate debit card transactions to maximize their profits from common people like myself with overdraft fees.

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low
Subissue: Overdrafts and overdraft fees
Consumer Complaint: After multiple failed attempts to reach customer service, I am having overdraft fees and negative balance fees regularly added to my account. I have not transferred funds there because I wanted to ensure that could I could take care of the first charge before erroneously adding a second. Now its stating I owe the bank {$200.00} dollars and none of my attempts to reach customer service have been successful up to this point.

Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account
Subissue: Can't stop withdrawals from your account
Consumer Complaint: I opened a new account with BBnT, now Truist. I was traveling. I thought I transferred some funds from XXXX into said account. I made a charge and it went through thus thinking yes I had made said deposit. I returned home form my business trip and realized on Monday that several charges had gone thru with resulting overdraft charges of {$36.00} x XXXX. I was also hit with an additional overdraft fee a week later a s I tried to fight these fees. I reached out to the Truist XXXX line and they could not reverse any of the charges nor turn off the feature allowing me to spend money that is not in my account feature. I then reached out to my banker, but he did not respond. I later went into a branch a week later when I could and found out he had left the bank and I had a new banker. He did not respond to my voicemails or emails even though they were forwarded to him.He also has been unable to reverse any of the charges nor turn off the money I don't have spend feature. Is this legal? I'd like the 6 overdrafts reversed and this feature that allows endless use of funds that I do not have and subsequent overdraft fees turned off on my account. Please help.

I was informed my a phone representative that the deposit wasnt sent back but taken by the bank to be applied to a debt that I dont even owe. The bank charged me fees do to merchant error. Consumer Complaint: I have a rental property in XXXX On XXXX XXXX, my tenant, an XXXX single mother, contacted me in a panic as BB & T ( now Truist ) would not accept her deposit to pay the rent. I contacted the company, they informed me they now have a policy to not accept cash deposits except from the account holder. They also informed me, there is no Federal regulation which requires this, it is a company policy " to prevent money laundering '', that they could accept deposits by check or money order. I asked to have a written copy of the policy sent to my email account. I never received a copy of the policy. As I am on vacation in XXXX ( I live in XXXX ), I visited a local branch ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX ) on XXXX. The representative ( XXXX ) I spoke with, informed me it was not a " policy '', but instead an agreement between Banks. He could show me on the screen, but he could not print it out since it was an " internal bank document ''. He confirmed there is no IRS or SEC regulation requiring such a standard, and it was to prevent money laundering. He also told me if I opened a business account, then they could accept cash deposits from anyone. I also called XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX as they have a branch near my property in XXXX, but they informed me they have the same policy. They are happy to send a copy of the policy to my mailing address. I find this reprehensible. I charge a minimal rent ( less than {$1000.00} a month ). The family is on a tight budget, and having to purchase a money order is a small, but unnecessary expense. If there were significant amounts being deposited in my account, I would be willing to believe they have a legitimate concern, but this is ludicrous.

Consumer Complaint: Truist, the old SunTrust, overnight change the way they process debits and credits. For 15 years it has always been the same and I know what nights they process and what nights they dont. They have change that with no notification to their customers so that they can bounce checks on people and charge fees. They are also now holding transfers from one SunTrust account to another which they have never done. They have always been instantaneous. This new Bank is a total mess and its causing me tremendous problems in trying to navigate the new system which they are keeping a secret from the customers.
