Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Didn't receive terms that were advertised
Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX I attempted to open a checking account using the promotional offer code " XXXX '' in order to receive a {$300.00} bonus once meeting XXXX min. direct deposits. After a few days I did not receive any update on my request so I tried again, using the offer code again, this time the account opened right away. However, once I logged in there were XXXX opened accounts. I called customer service and requested the duplicate account be closed. Since then I have met the terms of the promotional offer. After contacting customer service they state that the promotional offer was only tied to the duplicate account. Clearly I had opened the account using the promotional offer, met the terms, and the duplicate was an error that was quickly rectified. I was denied the bonus on a technicality and it is a computer error. Truist is not willing to honor its promotional offers.

Consumer Complaint: Truist bank reported a 30 days late payment notice to credit bureau on XX/XX/XXXX reporting that I have a past due payment for {$120.00}. A check for {$120.00} was sent to Truist on XXXX XXXX which was cleared and cashed by Truist on XXXX XXXX, But Truist failed to post the check to my account due date on XXXX XXXX and instead they posted the check on XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX resulting in a late payment. In addition, payments record from Truist credit card statement indicates that I have never failed to submit a payment on time. Therefore, I am not sure where is the 30 days late reporting is coming from. Upon contacting Truist, They indicaed that there are a posting problem on their end and sometimes it is taking more time, which causing for the payments being misapplied towards different statements and invoices. I filed a claim with truist to correct the reporting on XX/XX/2022 and I have yet to hear from them. I filed a dispute with XXXX on XXXX XXXX as well and I submitted all the evidance supporting my case ; however, they still did not remove the late payment reporting on my payment history which is resulting significant financial damage due to my credit scoring dropping more than 50 points which led to me not being able to apply for financing to purchase solar panels system for my property.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX on XXXX, requested to know if the XXXX I was selling was still available. I said yes and the conversation continued throughout the day about the condition of the machine, the price, and when her sister was going to pick it up on that Monday. She then asks if she can pay me through XXXX. I had only used XXXX once before for a small payment of under {$10.00}. This was {$180.00} I was asking for. She asked for my email and number and name and then it sent me an email saying XXXX XXXX has sent you {$500.00}. She then said that I would need to submit a XXXX XXXX for {$500.00} in order to upgrade my account to a XXXX User. I then received an email from who I thought was XXXX asking me to send the money, send it to the buyer agent, screenshot the amount and send it to the XXXX email and my account would be credited {$500.00} and the {$180.00}. Then I would have to send the woman back {$500.00}. I didnt think this was sketchy because this woman had mutual friends on XXXX with me. Which Im obviously guessing she got hacked. But needless to say Ive tried requesting the money back and havent gotten it. Truist said I may or may not get the money back. This is a shame for a bank to not have better things in place for fraud and scam acts thru XXXX. Im now out {$500.00} and NEED that money because I just bought a house and that money was supposed to go towards a mortgage.

Consumer Complaint: Good afternoon, Re : Suntrust Mortgage XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX - Escrow officer - Title Company In XXXX, my spouse XXXX XXXX XXXX and I refinanced our mortgage. We both were borrowers on the previous mortgage and assumed we were both borrowers on the refinance and have closing documents as well as mortgage statements, which reflect such. The escrow officer was my husbands sister, who I trusted. ( Now XXXX ) We divorced in XXXX, and I was awarded 100 % ownership of the property. A divorce decree and a filed Special Warranty deed reflects this. When Covid hit and I became XXXX I contacted the mortgage company and at which time I was told I could not communicate with them because I was not on the mortgage. This news Was a huge surprise. After further review of documents I received at the time the divorce I noticed a signed POA from my Ex- husband, had been notarized, but the notary had stamped it, but didnt sign it. The notary- was the Ex- sister-in-law ( she had remarried, so I didnt recognize the name ). These circumstances have now caused my mortgage to be in default and in foreclosure. I have lived in my home for 19 years and have equity but have been unsuccessful at having anyone acknowledge this. I stop the payments until I could solve the issue of ownership.. I have tried to communicate with loan provider, to take over loan, modify, loss mitigation, new loan, but no communication. I was told to file XXXX so I could claim debt. ( which I did for that purpose only ) Filled out loan applications, etc. Unable to locate Ex and notary will not communicate or acknowledge the error. Consumer Complaint: Our mortgage payment was raised due to an escrow shortage so we applied to have our escrow account canceled. We were informed that our escrow account could not be canceled due to a previous late payment on our record. Our mortgage company has been in charge of paying our home owners insurance and our taxes. When we reviewed the records we discovered that the late payment was due to our Mortgage company ( Truist ) not paying the full amount that was owed on one of our tax payments. Due our Mortgage company not paying the full amount, there was an extra amount that was not paid on time. We got proof of the short tax payment from our town and we feel that it is unfair for us to be penalized, and not allowed to cancel our escrow account, due to a mistake that was made by our mortgage company and something that was not our fault.
