XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXX/XX/XXXX SSN : [ Last 4 Digits ] TransUnion Consumer Solutions XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX Subject : Immediate Action Required - Discrepancy in Credit Report Information and Demand for Inquiry Removal Dear TransUnion, I am writing to express my serious concern and to seek immediate action regarding discrepancies in my credit report, specifically concerning unauthorized hard inquiries. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an unsolicited email from your organization regarding inquiries on my credit report. Following this, I had a conversation with one of your representatives. After a detailed review, they assured me that there were no hard inquiries on my report. This information was crucial for me to understand and manage my credit status appropriately. However, upon reviewing the mailed copy of my credit report, I was dismayed to discover hard inquiries listed, which directly contradicts the assurances given by your representative. I have listed the items I would like to dispute below.The items I am disputing do not relate to any transactions that I have made or authorized. Please remove this information at the earliest possible time. ACCORDING TO 14 U.S.C. 1681 g ( a ) ( 5 ) A CONSUMER REPORTING AGENCY SHALL NOT FURNISH TO ANY PERSON A RECORD OF INQUIRIES IN CONNECTION WITH A CREDIT OR INSURANCE TRANSACTION THAT IS NOT INITIATED BY A CONSUMER. Under section 604 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) explains that the permissible purposes listed in FCRA section 604 ( a ) ( 3 ) are consumer specific, and it affirms that a consumer reporting agency may not provide a consumer report to a user under FCRA section 604 ( a ) ( 3 ) unless it has reason to believe that all of the consumer report information it includes pertains to the consumer who is the subject of the users request. The Bureau notes that disclaimers will not cure a failure to have a reason to believe that a user has a permissible purpose for a consumer report provided pursuant to FCRA section 604 ( a ) ( 3 ). This advisory opinion also reminds consumer report users that FCRA section 604 ( f ) strictly prohibits a person who uses or obtains a consumer report from doing so without a permissible purpose.
