Issue: Problem with a company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the removal of a fraudulent account on my credit reports by the credit bureaus. I have discovered a fraudulent account that was opened under my name and I have written a letter to the credit bureaus requesting their thorough investigation into this matter and the removal of this fraudulent account via USPS Certified Mail on XX/XX/2023. However, they did not conduct an investigation and refused to remove this fraudulent account from my credit file. These are the details of the fraudulent account : Creditor : XXXX XXXX ; Account number : XXXX ; Balance : {$450.00} ; Date opened : XX/XX/2023. Upon discovery of this fraudulent account, I immediately took steps to address this matter, including filing an identity theft report with the FTC and placing a fraud alert on my credit files. Despite my efforts to remove this product of identity theft, the account remains on my credit report, continuing to negatively impact my financial standing and credit health. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Consumer Protection Act, I am entitled to have fraudulent accounts removed from my credit report. Therefore, I request the CFPB 's assistance in investigating this matter and ensuring the prompt removal of this fraudulent account from my credit records.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Information belongs to someone else
Consumer Complaint: I, XXXX XXXX XXXX, am a natural living person. I am writing to dispute certain information present on my credit report, which I believe is inaccurate. This dispute is based on the provisions outlined in the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including 15 U.S. Code 1681a, 15 U.S. Code 1681s-2, and 15 USC 1681a 2 ( A ) ( i ). According to 15 U.S. Code 1681a, the definition of a consumer report excludes reports containing information solely as to transactions or experiences between the consumer and the reporting entity. It is evident that the information in dispute falls under this exclusion. Furthermore, 15 U.S. Code 1681s-2 emphasizes the responsibility of furnishers of information to consumer reporting agencies. The law stipulates that furnishers must provide accurate information and prohibits reporting with actual knowledge of errors. In addition, 15 USC 1681a 2 ( A ) ( i ) supports my claim by specifying exclusions from the definition of a consumer report, highlighting the relevance of the disputed information to this exclusion. I am also placing a FTC reference number- # XXXX so that you can verify the inaccuracy of fraud that is placed on my credit report. Now based on the provisions mentioned above, I kindly request an investigation into these discrepancies and urge prompt action to rectify the inaccuracies. As per my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I also request that you provide me with a written explanation of the results of your investigation. Enclosed are copies of documents supporting my claim for your review. I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and request that the inaccurate information be corrected or removed from my credit report at the earliest.

Issue: Problem with a company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I am very disappointed that despite my persistent efforts to dispute and rectify these issues, it appears that the inaccuracies persist, particularly the account named XXXX ( Original Creditor : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX - Account # : XXXX ), being removed and re-added multiple times, specifically on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX. I don't know what else you need from me to prove that this account has been charged under my name without credible proof of validation. I didn't even sign any contract agreement with this collection department. I have had no physical contact with them and was not aware of their presence until their names appeared on my credit report. I want to bring your attention to the following derogatory items : 1. XXXX XXXX - Account XXXX This account has been paid off, yet discrepancies exist in the reported dates of the Last Active and Last Payment. Inconsistencies like these raise questions about the accuracy of your reports. Life circumstances, such as a family member 's critical condition, can impact payments, and I urge you to consider the human aspect in these situations. Despite previous removals, the account keeps resurfacing. 2. XXXX ( Original Creditor : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) - Account # : XXXX I have no knowledge of this account and have never entered into any contractual agreements with the collection department. Its multiple removals suggest a lack of validation and verification, yet it persists on my credit report. 3. XXXX - Account # : XXXX This account displays discrepancies in reported dates and amounts, similar to other accounts. 4. XXXX ( Original Creditor : XXXX XXXX XXXX ) - Account # : XXXX The " last active date '' is inaccurately reported, further highlighting the inconsistency in the information provided. 5. XXXX - Account # : XXXX This has shown faulty reporting due to some mistakes in a two-payment history. They have reported it Charged off in XXXX and fully paid in XXXX, and still they continuously furnish such accounts despite its obvious error in their reports. The following collection accounts has failed to provide the following documents I need : 1. An Official Contract Agreement : I have not seen even one signature on the billing statement that they have provided. No sworn agreements and contracts were included ; they only provided me with a plain billing statement. How can that be considered valid proof if there is no signature on it? 2. Proof of Licensing : Where are their furnished documents that demonstrate their status as a licensed debt collector with the legal rights to collect debts, both within and outside my state area? THERE's NONE! 3. Transaction History and Payment Records : How can they substantiate that this billing statement is mine if the address written on it is incorrect?

In compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and as a gesture of respect to the Federal Trade Commission Committee on accuracy and completeness of credit information I am formally writing in today to dispute negative information appearing on my credit.
