Consumer Complaint: Last year, XXXX year ago this past XXXX I received a call from what appeared as the credit card company XXXX XXXX. I generally dont answer calls unless they come up as a contact which the phone in question did. It was early in the morning and a woman who identified herself as a XXXX XXXX representative asked me if I was trying to charge {$1000.00} on my account for a game system and I said no because I was at my credit limit at {$300.00} already plus I didnt play games so I wouldnt buy a {$1000.00} game system even if I could. The woman advised me that my account was in jeapardy and that she was putting the supervisor of XXXX XXXX on the phone immediately. A man by the name of XXXX XXXX got on the phone and urgently told me that I was needed to help catch whoever was trying to fraudulently use my credit card so I agreed. XXXX XXXX XXXX had me download a XXXX XXXX and then I was told to go get a {$300.00} XXXX gift card, which I was going to be reimbursed, and to tell him when I got it so he/they could instruct me on what to do with it so I did. After I got the card and gave him the information suddenly he vanished and then I checked my account and saw that another {$300.00} XXXX gift card was purchased from my account. I got alarmed and called XXXX XXXXXXXX to find out what was happening and I was told that they never called me blah blah so I told them about what happened and they were hostile to me, called me a liar and a thief, hung up on me and when I called again they treated me bad again, refused to give me the identity theft information that I paid for, demanded that I pay for the fraudulent charges and closed my account. Then they reported that I was late on my payments to the credit bureaus and sold my account to a collection agency. I was never late in my payments but I did refuse to pay for the fraudulent charges. Now today at XXXX MST a man who didnt identify himself other than he represented a Id theft company called me about XXXX XXXXXXXX false charges and tried the same as the last scammer.
