Subissue: Difficulty submitting a dispute or getting information about a dispute over the phone
Consumer Complaint: Trans union reps keep telling me that they are the fraud department when they arent. They talk over me and transfer me endlessly and my concern is still not solved. I called in today and was transferred to five different reps, one twice and still no one could help me. The rep told me that I would need to look at my credit file. I told her that Im looking right at it and thats why Im calling in to speak with someone about it and she hung the phone up even though in the beginning the call they ask for your email and telephone number in case call gets disconnected. She never called back which means she hung up on purpose. Ive paid for membership and fraud protection and Im not getting help with eaither one.

Issue: Identity theft protection or other monitoring services
Subissue: Didn't receive services that were advertised
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to lodge a formal complaint against TransUnion for its failure to provide me with a copy of my Rental/Tenant Screening Score and Consumer Report, which I believe violates my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). On XX/XX/2024, I contacted TransUnion 's SmartMove service to request a copy of my " ResidentScore. '' I was informed that I was not entitled to access this report unless I submitted a housing application. I explained that I am currently applying for housing and wanted to ensure I am fully informed of the information potential landlords are receiving about me. This is crucial for me to address any potential inaccuracies and ensure that I am not unfairly denied housing or subjected to higher security deposits based on this information. Following their instructions, I called TransUnion directly at XXXX, where I was redirected to another number, XXXX, to request my tenant screening report and score. Once again, I was told I could not access my report unless I had already submitted a housing application for screening. This runaround and ultimate denial of access to my own consumer information is frustrating and appears to be in direct violation of consumer protection laws that guarantee me the right to access the information that credit reporting agencies have on me. The Fair Credit Reporting Act entitles consumers to obtain a copy of their credit report annually, as well as under certain other circumstances, to ensure transparency and accuracy of the information that can significantly impact their lives. The inability to access this information prevents me from taking proactive steps to understand and, if necessary, dispute any incorrect information that could adversely affect my chances of securing housing. It is imperative for consumers to be empowered with the same information that potential landlords have access to, to ensure fair treatment and to prevent potential discrimination. I am requesting the CFPB 's assistance in investigating this matter and compelling TransUnion to provide me with a copy of my Rental/Tenant Screening Score and Consumer Report, as is my right. Also, I'd like to ask that the CFPB take any additional actions deemed necessary to ensure that TransUnion complies with all applicable consumer protection laws to prevent similar situations from occurring to other consumers. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
