Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: I received a Target credit card within the last six months but never actually used it. My original limit was {$2000.00} and I noticed on my credit report that it was reduced to {$500.00} without notice. I was in the process of buying a home and concerned about my debt utilization so I called Target and requested that the card be canceled. The Target employee explained that it is common practice for Target to reduce credit limits to prevent fraud ( however the reduction of my credit limit could be avoided if I regularly made purchases ). Clearly this is an ploy to get consumers to use their Target card more often. The employee talked me out of canceling and assured me that my original limit would be reinstated. In the meanwhile the mortgage company re-ran my credit to secure me a better interest rate. Thankfully my interest rate decreased by 1.25 % because my score improved last month. I checked my score report today and found that they did not reinstate my original limit as promised and my credit score decreased by six points subsequently. Had that happened two weeks ago I would not have secured a better interest rate and Target wouldve cost me thousands of dollars over the life of my mortgage. Reducing credit limits to entice people to utilize their Target credit card is deceptive practice at best. It can have a detrimental impact on ones credit worthiness.

Issue: Trouble during payment process
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: This is another complaint with the same problem that still is not resolved even though the bank said they had fixed it. TD bank has problems with posting my mortgage payments properly and has problems with keeping my insurance on file. Their representatives have problems with telling the truth and based off my experience a tendency to lie. The letter I had received as a response from my last complaint had XXXX XXXX 's contact information on there. She said to call in case this was not fixed. Well her number that she provided is not a working number and is disconnected.??? I was given a new escrow analysis from TD bank reflecting the corrections promised. Then told to take that to the bank since I was never given a bill. Then make a payment based off that. I did exactly as the bank instructed. Now I received a bill with a late fee attached to my mortgage. This was supposed to be taken care of as promised. It hasn't. I feel as though this is a form of prejudice.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Didn't receive terms that were advertised
Consumer Complaint: Hi - Opened a TDbank checking and savings account in XX/XX/2020 using a referral link that advertised {$300.00} and {$200.00} bonuses for meeting direct deposit and saving thresholds. Met terms of the account and bonuses were not paid. TDbank stated that referral link was targeted and thus they would not pay bonuses. I received no message when opening my account that I was not eligible. In fact, I received email receipt that my accounts were opened successfully. I would have no issue if I was told that I wasn't targeted, but I left my funds in their account for almost 6 months. When contacted, it took over a month to get a response from the company that says they offer " legendary '' customer service. I am not optimistic that this will end successfully, but I hope that enough customers file complaints so that TDbank changes the way they honor their promotions.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 I had fraud with my checking account at TD Bank , N.A . Once I realize that the " representative from the fraud dept '' was in fact a fake and the defrauder, I immediately hung up and contacted TD Bank to report the fraud. While speaking to the rep in the fraud dept at TD at approximately XXXX XXXX. - she advised me that the person who defrauded me had also done the same with another TD customer. They had this person 's name, the City and State and the bank in which the funds were transferred and consequently withdrawn from. This information was given to me by TD Bank. I was told to file a police report and to bring the report to a branch to submit to the fraud dept. My claim was denied 3 times. I was never advised by TD in writing or by telephone. I only became aware because I continued calling the fraud dept for a status. I can not understand, if TD Bank is aware of the identity of this person, the fact that this person has done it before why they continue to deny my claim. I had a {$1000.00} stolen from my account. I asked TD to review the recording of my conversation with their representative XXXX XXXX of the fraud dept to confirm that the information came from them. They have not done so. Why not, because then they would have no choice but to do what they are insured for - return my funds. It is unbelievable that TD Bank would treat a customer like the culprit instead of the victim.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2021 - XXXX sent me an alert that a credit limit check was submitted against my SSN by TD XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ). XX/XX/2021 - XXXX then sent me an alert that a credit card with a credit limit of {$10000.00} was established ( Retail establishment is XXXX & XXXX ). XX/XX/2021 - I contacted XXXX and let them know that I did not open a new credit card XX/XX/2021 - XXXX advised me to get a Police report ( which I did ) XX/XX/2021 - I contacted XXXX and they were able to bring up the fraudulent account and asked me a number of questions. The home address I have did not match what they have on file. Obviously they did not tell me the address on file, but they did freeze the account in their system so that it could not be used. Currently there were no charges to the account. XX/XX/2021 - I sent the Police Report to XXXX so that they could remove the credit inquiry and card from my records. ( they advised me to reach out to you with the same information )
