Consumer Complaint: Hello! My name is XXXX XXXX XXXX and I am a XXXX citizen. I am making this complaint about TD Bank because on two occasions a debt collector has broken into my bank account and collected money without my consent. This bank has allowed someone to break into my account and collect a medical debt without prior notice. And as if that were not enough, they charge me additional fees for this " service ''. This is not a secure bank account and you are not protecting me as the customer. The first time it happened I called them and they told me this would not happen again. A year later it happens again. More than {$600.00} comes out of my account without my consent, leaving the money for my rent and food for my children incomplete.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I had credit card debt with TD Bank. In XX/XX/2022 a settlement agreement was reached. The lump sum settlement was paid in full, on the spot ( at the time of settlement ). A company named XXXX XXXX aggressively contacted ( over multiple phone calls ) in XX/XX/2022 trying to collect the debt not owed ( already settled and paid with the original creditor ). Apparently TD Bank made an error and charged off the debt to XXXX XXXX ( even after the settlement agreement was made and paid ). TD Bank ( recovery department ) has acknowledged that the payment was somehow not applied correctly. They assured me that they would correct the situation and " withdraw the debt from XXXX XXXX ''. I called XXXX XXXX and informed them of this situation and of what TD Bank said. Things were quiet for months. XXXX XXXX started repeatedly calling me again. I called TD Bank again in early XXXX and after a long wait, and multiple phone transfers, they confirmed that the account is settled in full ( since XX/XX/2022 ). They said they would send a fax to me to confirm that in writing, and also contact XXXX XXXX stating that the account is settled in full. I never received the fax. XXXX XXXX is now again harassing with repeated phone calls and just today ( XX/XX/2022 ) left a long voicemail referencing my name ( and another name ) and debt owed. The voicemail greeting is generic and there would have been no confirmation that the phone number or voicemail belonged to me. This is highly inappropriate. Furthermore, continuing to attempt to collect debt not owed constitutes harassment.

Consumer Complaint: In 2017 I was advised by TD Bank that I failed to pay the real estate taxes on my property located in XXXX, New York at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX NY XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. At that time I was told that I owed {$11000.00} in real estate taxes. I was still paying the monthly payment on time in the amount of {$2200.00}. Apparently the TD Bank repaid the Real Estate Taxes of {$11000.00}. I repaid the {$11000.00} via a certified check to TD Bank. Meanwhile TD Bank increased my monthly payment to {$2400.00}. I have been paying this {$2400.00} since 2017. Meanwhile the bank sent my case to their attorney to commence a foreclosure proceeding. I have been in foreclosure since then. This patently unfair. I am almost XXXX XXXX XXXX and this is cruel and unfair treatment by this bank. I HAVE BEEN MAKING THE MONTHLY PAYMENTS CONSISTENTLY TO THIS BANK. Now they want to steal my property and keep the payments that I have made to them. My attorney has contacted them and she is still waiting on a response.

Consumer Complaint: I would like to make a formal complaint against TD Bank. I received multiple calls regarding escrow difference on my patient of XX/XX/22 of {$34.00}. I sent the payment which was {$1700.00}. Instead of applying that amount to the mortgage they held it in an escrow account. I agreed to go into the bank to make a payment of {$34.00} however when I arrived the bank then stated I was to pay {$1800.00}. I made another call to the bank where I was told that all fees would be waived and that this would not affect my credit report if I made the XXXX payment of {$1800.00}. At that time they were supposed to take the extra money to apply it to the XX/XX/22 payment and be current with all payments. As of today I received a notice that my credit report shows late payment from TD Bank XXXX and all late fees are still present.
