Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I contacted Synchrony Bank numerous times and they refuse to delete the charge off from my account. They agreed to remove the charge off over the phone from my credit report. I paid this account in full and I want the charge off deleted from my credit report. I contacted them several times through email and phone. Synchrony Bank refused to work with me and I sent them several good will deletion letters. I could not pay the bill, because I was in the hospital. Out of common courtesy, I paid my bill in full and they still refuse to delete the charge off. Even though, they agreed to do so over the phone. They refuse to send me a letter stating that they will delete the charge off. They are also several mistakes on my credit report such as when the account turned into a charge off, because I was making payments to them until I became sick. I loved being a Synchrony Bank customer, but I will greatly appreciate it if they can remove this charge off. I paid my bill in full and I was XXXX XXXX at the time. The account ends in XXXX.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: I have used XXXX for a number of years. They offered me a personal line of credit of {$2800.00}. I agreed to their terms ( the fine print ), understanding that the personal credit line was actually offered by Synchrony Bank. Since I have a very short credit history, I am vigilant to always pay down to zero any credit use within the terms of the credit card or personal credit line so that my credit score is impacted as little as possible. As I understood how credit scoring worked, use of my credit while keeping percentage of use below 30 % was ideal for increasing score over time. On XX/XX/XXXX I made a payment of {$1500.00} as I had used XXXX to conveniently purchase two airline tickets at XXXX XXXX earlier in the month. This amount was immediately debited from one of my accounts at XXXX Bank. As of today, XX/XX/2022, Synchrony Bank is holding back almost {$1000.00} of my credit line as 'security ' which is what their representative told me earlier today when I called to inquire why credit reporting agencies were showing my credit use much higher than it should have been. My guess is Synchrony is using this hidden and deceitful 'security ' as a way to comply with Federal Banking regulations related to retained capital requirements. Synchrony would not tell me when the 'security ' hold would be taken off my account. This practice is opaque, not explained AT ALL when opening the personal line of credit, and very negative to my overall credit rating which dropped XXXX points in the latest cycle despite me having no real outstanding debt. I liken this to corporate check kiting. Where are the regulators?

Consumer Complaint: Synchrony Bank has closed every XXXX of my consumer credit accounts with no reason to me. I went to use XXXX of my accounts and was declined - I researched and found that every single XXXX of my Synchrony Bank credit accounts were closed. I received no notification that this was taking place or given any reason. I have had perfect credit history with them, paid all my accounts on time if not all paid off. I had substantial credit lines available and clearly didn't abuse my credit privilages. By doing this, they have severely damaged my credit profile and scores.

Consumer Complaint: I was making a payment towards my Care Credit XXXXSynchrony Bank and pulled my statement to notice I was charged {$99.00} on a {$550.00} balance. My apr with this card is 26.99 %. I asked how they can justifiably charge that type of interest on that amount and they claim it is because a promotional offer has expired. Even though the promotional offer expired, it does not constitute an enormous increase of interest. I need for someone to look at this. I did get irate, because they thought I would not know better; but I do work in the XXXX XXXX & never have seen such price gauging.
