Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Can't close your account
Consumer Complaint: I owed XXXX just over {$4300.00} and I paid it in full. I tried multiple times to close the account but they refused to close it. I tried doing it myself on the app and calling them. They refuse to close the account and charged me interest of almost {$70.00} after the card was paid off. They keep trying to access my bank accounts as well. They will not send me a written bill. All I want is to be debt free but these criminals want me to stay in bondage. Let me go Synchrony Bank!

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: You never received your bill or did not know a payment was due
Consumer Complaint: SYNCB/PPMC # XXXX Pursuant to the Fair Credit Billing Act, A creditor may not treat a payment on a credit card account under an open end consumer credit plan as late for any purpose. This account is a billing error. This is not a refusal to pay but a notice that this alleged debt is disputed. I respectfully request your company provide me with documentary evidence validating this alleged debt. If no such evidence of indebtedness exists, and the only indebtedness is by agreement, you can not lawfully furnish these inaccurate late payments to the credit reporting agencies. The United States is bankrupt. If this alleged debt is valid, what authority do you have to collect this debt in the United States? If this alleged debt can not be validated and turns out to be an extension of credit, that would make the negative information provision in any agreement between us void and unenforceable. The continued reporting of these inaccurate late payments would constitute a breach of fiduciary duty by collecting this extension of credit by unlawful extortionate means. And under the CARES ACT which is still LAWFUL and has forbearance and credit reporting requirements that may apply to my situation. Since there is no law under the Fair Credit Reporting Act requiring your financial institution to report negative information to a consumer reporting agency, your company is knowingly reporting inaccurate information to the consumer reporting agencies. Reporting information with reasonable cause to believe is inaccurate violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Your companys policy does not supersede federal law. I am demanding that all late payments are UPDATED to PAID AS AGREED and a DELETION of each late payment be submitted to the credit reporting agencies immediately to prevent my consumer credit reputation from receiving further harm.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I submitted a payment to my Synchrony credit card through XXXX. I have made multiple payments to this credit card, some more than the {$400.00} I just submitted, and have had no issue. For some reason, the {$400.00} payment I made to the card has a hold on it through the credit card company. I have never heard of a hold being placed on a PAYMENT towards a balance. I called the credit card company, and they said the hold would be removed 8 days after I submitted the payment. So all of the bills I tried to pay with this card can't go through until they remove the hold. Now I suffer late fees because this bank arbitrarily decides to hold payments. Why would a company deter you from submitting payments frequently and on time??
