Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: In a letter dated XX/XX/2023, Synchrony Bank arbitrarily lowered my credit limit for my Amazon store card to {$220.00} ( please see attached letter ). This, despite my credit card account being in good standing now and ever since I opened the account. As you will note, the reasons for this decision that are stated in the letter have nothing to do with my account status. As you know, a consumer 's credit score is drastically impacted anytime an action like this occurs. In my case, this happened as a direct result of the action taken by Synchrony Bank. I should add that I have had four credit accounts administered by Synchrony Bank : CareCredit ; Amazon ; XXXX XXXX and Dick 's Sporting Goods XXXX All of these accounts were, or are now, in good standing. In fact, my previous accounts with CareCredit and XXXX were paid ahead of time with no interest penalty. Several months ago, Synchrony Bank arbitrarily closed my XXXX account despite my excellent payment history with that credit card. Finally, the credit score of XXXX indicated in the letter, as reported by XXXX, is incorrect based upon my score of XXXX by XXXX today. I am sure you are aware that XXXX is the least reliable of the three major XXXX 's, as the XXXX scores reported by XXXX are always lower than they actually are. Banks and other credit issuers must be made aware of the negative impact that are caused to consumers when rogue actions such as the one I have described here are taken.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: This issue pertains to a dishwasher I had purchased on XX/XX/23 at Lowe 's in XXXX XXXX, IL. I was planning to use my Lowe 's Credit Card ( Synchrony bank ), a 10 % off coupon from Lowe 's ( when using the Lowe 's credit card ), and a {$25.00} gift card. The associate applied the 10 % coupon to my order ; however, when she applied the {$25.00} gift card, the coupon was no longer valid. The associate told me since the gift card was already used and the funds were un-retrievable, we would have to complete the purchase, refund the purchase ( giving me the {$25.00} gift card as Store Credit ), and redo the purchase again without a gift card ( just the 10 % off coupon+ Lowe 's Credit Card ). The front desk and assistant store manager had to get a hold of IT but the refund of {$850.00} was made ( {$25.00} given as store credit in a card and the rest ( {$830.00} ) supposedly refunded to my Lowe 's Credit Card account with Synchrony Bank - see attached receipt time-stamped XXXX XXXX ). Immediately afterwards ( XXXX XXXX ), the purchase was made again ( with just the10 % coupon, for a total of {$810.00} ). I was told the refund would take a few days to be applied to by Lowe 's Credit Card account with Synchrony. After 15 days, I saw no refund on my online account, so I called Synchrony Bank ( XX/XX/23 ). I was informed the store never put in the request for the refund as no refund was pending on my account. I am asking for a refund of {$830.00} There was a letter sent by Synchrony bank stating they were looking into this issue and no payment is required at this time, while the charge is under dispute. However, this letter this no longer available online ( leading me to believe something suspicious is going on- I can't trust Lowe 's for their word as stated previously with the refund that was never processed by the XXXX XXXX Lowe 's branch ). I am told the dispute investigation can take up to 60 days and is not guaranteed. Synchrony never asked for any receipts or details so I am not sure what they will be investigating.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: From XX/XX/XXXX- XX/XX/XXXX, this card was 100 % paid off and not being used. In XX/XX/XXXX, I decided to purchase a new couch which was a little over {$2000.00}. In XX/XX/XXXX, I realized my Synchrony XXXX credit card was closed after logging into my account but not because I requested a closure. After calling their customer service line, I was informed the company closed my account without my consent, due to 'other " delinquent accounts on my credit report. I have a positive payment history with them and have had this account since XXXX. As a long time card member with them, this closure could have been prevented if they had communicated to me there was an issue. There are NO late payments reported from Synchrony XXXX to any of the 3 credit bureaus, no phone calls placed to collect any monies owed, nor communication prior to them closing my account. The customer service agent stated this was done to 'protect the company ', how about protect the consumer? Reach out and ask if there are any mutual remedies both parties can agree to to prevent such a situation? My credit has been negatively affected with one of my oldest accounts being closed.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, I signed up for the PayPal Cashback Mastercard. I was responding to a promotion whereby new card members who spend {$500.00} within 90 days would receive a {$150.00} bonus. I did not receive the bonus, as promised in the promotion. I called the customer service number, who referred me to PayPal. PayPal referred me back to the issuing bank. I tried calling the bank multiple times with no resolution.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I sent a notarized Billing Error Notice to CARECREDIT 'S CEO XXXX XXXX via USPS certified mail with a Domestic Return Receipt. CARECREDIT received the Billing Error Notice on XX/XX/XXXX. I also sent a copy of the Billing Error Notice to CARECREDIT/SYNCHRONY BANK BILLING INQUIRIES via USPS certified mail on XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX. Those Notices were delivered to their XXXX XXXX and picked up on XX/XX/XXXX. I am aware that CARECREDIT/SYNCHRONY BANK shall follow the following procedures as defined in 12CFR 1026.13 ( e ) ( 1 ) Correct the billing error and credit the consumer account with any disputed amount and related finance or other charges, as applicable ; and ( 2 ) Mail or delivery a correction notice to the consumer. I am also aware that " the creditor may not collect any disputed amount. The creditor can not restrict, accelerate payment or close an account and or make or threaten adverse reporting to any person about the consumers credit standing without resolving the billing error. '' CARECREDIT/SYNCHRONY BANK reported the account as 30 days past due on XX/XX/XXXX, which is a violation 15 U.S. Code 1666 ( e ). CARECREDIT/SYNCHRONY BANK also closed my account on XX/XX/XXXX, when there were no missed payments or reason to close my account, which is a violation of the FDCPA as well. Lastly, CARECREDIT/SYNCHRONY BANK has not responded with a rebuttal, point for point, which forfeits CARECREDIT/SYNCHRONY BANK right to collect the disputed amount as described in 15 USC 1666 ( e ).

Consumer Complaint: I sent a payment in the amount of {$100.00} to XXXX XXXX, and it cleared my bank on XX/XX/2023 but was not credited properly to the account balance. The balance before I made " that payment '' was {$840.00}, and on top of that I Paid {$40.00} on the XXXX of XXXX, 2023. I called to speak to someone about it and all I got was rude representatives ( x3 ), one could not speak American English too well and the other two were just rude and not very customer friendly, so the communication ended without getting a resolution. There are two charges mad eon the XXXX and XXXX, but that was before I made the {$100.00} payment on the XXXX of XXXX, 2023 so my balance should be {$740.00} not {$840.00}. I could not discuss it with the reps cause they were not too customer friendly/oriented, etc. when I made the {$100.00} payment my balance was {$840.00} and that was " AFTER '' the charges made on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX. I know American consumers have the right to discuss their account with financial institutions and have a right to be informed and their accounts be properly credited when payments are made outwith being treated with contempt and rudeness by the financial institutions agents ... ......
