Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I sign up for a 4 year interest free account with Synchrony Bank through XXXX XXXX, then on the first month they take the full amount out of the loan my bank, almost {$8000.00} I wasn't expecting. The payment should have been around {$160.00}. I call them on XX/XX/XXXX and they apologize after trying to blame me for their mistake. They tell me they will reverse the payment and I should see it in the next two weeks. Two weeks go by and nothing so I call them again, now they tell me it takes 15 business days. I call at the one month mark and they apologize and tell me that the refund was never processed and that they are going to cut me a check and mail it, could take 2-3 week. What garbage. Deceptive at worst, incompetent at best, either way I would never do business with this organization again.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX has furnished an inaccurate, unverified account on my consumer report. I have provided accurate ( factual ) verified proof that clearly states this debit is not XXXX XXXX XXXX, on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX and they responded with a stack of bills claiming it validates this debt to be mine and it does not and in doing so they refuse to remove this debt from my consumer report and it has cause my credit score to drop drastically and I have not been able to get above for loans, lines of credit or set up business credit for my business as well as mental anguish and anxiety due to this inaccurate, unverified account on my consumer report.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I had a fake charge in the amount of {$4.00}, Reference Number XXXX placed on my Amazon Card number ending in # XXXX, XX/XX/2023 at XXXX. I did not make this purchase. There is no record of this digital purchase on my Amazon account. I filed a dispute with Synchrony Bank on XX/XX/2023. I wrote to Synchrony bank filing a dispute to state that I did not make this charge, the charge is fake since it does not show up on my Amazon account, Amazon Payment Solutions rep " XXXX '' confirmed this today. There is no legitimate activity number because Synchrony Bank made the error ; therefore, XXXX can not make any progress to fix this. I called Synchrony bank today Friday, XX/XX/2023 at XXXX, Yesterday, Thursday, XX/XX/2023 at XXXX, and Tuesday, XX/XX/2023 at XXXX, to report the charge is not mine, and {$4.00} remains on a new account that I did not request- I have no new card for the new account, and the XXXX reps do NOTHING to fix the erroneous charge. I am being sent payment reminders for a charge I did not make. I have not been able to use my Amazon Card account since XX/XX/2023 since Synchrony Bank closed my account ending in # XXXX. Synchrony Bank made a new account # XXXX to which I have NO CARD associated with this account!!! And the fake charge is on the new account!!!! It has not been removed. Synchrony Bank has been preventing me from making purchases since XX/XX/2023 since I have no Amazon Card associated with the new account they made!! This is complete incompetence and has created grief that I have endured each time I have tried to get this charge off my Amazon Card account. Attached to this complaint are 3 screenshots proving there is a fake charge Synchrony Bank made the error, and no orders on my Amazon account in the last 3 months. And the email sent from Synchrony reminding me to pay the fake charge. I want my account # XXXX reinstated. My Amazon Card ending in numbers XXXX is the card I have in my possession. REINSTATE MY ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY.

Consumer Complaint: I have had an account with PayPal for years and utilized their option to pay over time with no interest if paid off within 6 months. Recently despite several calls to the company each month requiring 30 or more minutes each time, they continue to allocate payments to the most recent charge, not the one that is required to be paid first in order to avoid accruing interest charges. There is no way on their site to allocate the payment amount yourself and despite repeated requests to pay off the charges by length of time posted, they continue to pay the most recent charge first, clearly in an attempt to catch the lender out and charge interest even though the amount should have been paid off.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: Payment of {$1500.00} was made and received on XX/XX/XXXX. The card issuer as of XX/XX/XXXX, has still not applied the payment, despite it coming from my checking account at a credit union. They claim their algorithm does these holds to watch for fraud, but given the actual circumstances, that does not make any sense. No one at the company is able to override the decision and Im stuck in a foreign country with no money until funds are released. They claim no interest will be accrued in the meantime, avoiding a TILA violation. What right do these companies have to hold legitimate funds of working ppl for an undetermined amount of time? Poor ppl having money in the bank is suspicious, so they have a right to keep it until they feel better?? Unbelievable. Why doesnt CFPB provide protections for low income ppl in these scenarios? We are out here starving while major banks are making money speculating on funds they are withholding from poor ppl.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I've had the accounts ( Ashley Home Store and Care Credit ) that Synchrony closed for several years. One of them was paid off last year and the other one a couple of years ago. They are both sitting at a XXXX balance. I received this letter regarding these 2 accounts and the fact that this company closed them. Every account I have had with them has always been in good standings. There was never any late payments nor over the credit limitations with these accounts. The letter I received incorrectly stated mentioning the 2 mortgages that I have on my accounts which I have had since XXXX and XXXX respectively. One of those mortgages is not even paid by me but regardless, both of them are 100 % paid on time and both of them are less than what the original amount of the loan amount meaning that they are close to being paid off. My mortgage situation has nothing to do with this company. As long as they are current and in good standings is all that is important. The other creditors on my credit file have been there since I opened these 2 accounts. There are no new creditors that have been added since I opened these accounts. And none of my open accounts are over their credit limits. Because this company closed these accounts, my credit score dropped over XXXX points.

The first I heard of this was receiving the 1099-C. This creates a problem for me because this is reported to the IRS. Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated. XXXX XXXX
