Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: I applied online for a lowes/synchrony credit card. I provided all the required information including a biometric scan and images of both sides of my State issued drivers license online. I received an error message that said I needed to go to a Lowes store and apply which I did. The store personnel did not request the biometric facial recognition data or the copies of my drivers license and they informed me that I was denied. I have more than 10 C d accounts and a RoomstoGo/Synchrony account all in good standing. Now I am being told that Synchrony can deny credit for any reason they so choose. This is a direct violation of The Fair Credit Reporting Act as it is worded. I need to know if I can expect this kind of disfunctional credit assessment due to unannounced changes to lending policies which do not mention that this new requirement can be used, even when it doesn't work properly online or in store, to deny credit to a perfectly credit qualified individual.

Consumer Complaint: Letters were sent to XXXX XXXX XXXX In regards to a Walmart rewards credit card issued by synchrony bank. The card was purchased by XXXX XXXX. And then sold to a collector XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX has disclosed false information on my credit report stating I owe synchrony bank XXXX dollars. The information was disputed in accordance with FCRA Requirements and two letters were mailed with tracking to XXXX XXXX asking for verification license numbers, how they came up with this debt and how they verified I owed them the debt. The response received was a statement from XXXX XXXX. This is not from the creditor that is listed on the credit report which states synchrony bank. I have given XXXX XXXX more than 60 days to resolve and they have failed to do so. At this time I am asking they be investigated for fraud and violations of FCRA and remove any damaging false information that has been added to my credit report.
