Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: In XXXX XXXX, during a review of my PayPal account information, I identified multiple transactions I did not make, nor did I receive any product ( s ) or service ( s ) relating to any of these transactions. I immediately disputed these charges by submitting an online dispute. In my XXXX attempt, I chose to identify these transactions as fraudulent. On XXXX I contacted Customer Service. To my surprise, I was told by the agent that my account address had recently been changed, my email address was changed, and my phone number had been changed as well. As I did not initiate any of these changes, I requested and was advised my account would be blocked/ restricted. This is Identity Theft! Regarding my first Case # XXXX dispute, when PayPal closed the dispute, they determined that certain transactions werent unauthorized and hence couldnt be covered by XXXX XXXX XXXX. I contacted and was advised by Customer Service I would be better served if I changed the reason for the dispute ( XXXX ) to I did not receive any product or service ( XXXX ). ( True statement. ) The XXXX system would not allow me to include the rejected transactions in my Case Dispute # XXXX, so I decided to dispute these in a different manner. Dispute # XXXX then consisted of XXXX items. from XXXX XXXX. Upon completion of the investigation, the dispute was found in my favor, thus the funds were refunded. The other transactions being those deemed to be ineligible by PayPal. In a dispute letter I submitted to PayPal / SYNCB on XX/XX/XXXX, I rejected their " ineligible '' premise and utilized my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act sec 609 ( e ) to help me better understand the details surrounding these questionable changes/ transactions. I requested all transaction records as I hope this new information would help determine the identity of the person or persons that actually DID make the transactions and was, in fact, the benefactor of those products/ services. I have continued to make monthly payments for the charges I actually made and accept full responsibility for those. That ends today as I have paid off them off. The balance remaining for the unauthorized purchases remains at {$830.00}, which has officially been disputed. To date, XX/XX/XXXX, I have not received any correspondence or notice from XXXX XXXX XXXX! Consequently, I have submitted a XXXX letter for a status update. I am also submitting this information to your group.

Consumer Complaint: I was given a care credit card by the XXXX office back in XX/XX/XXXX, which never explained to me how the card worked, only that once the no interest promotion ended, interests would start to be charged. I was never told that once the promotion ended on XX/XX/XXXX, I was going to be charged a lump sum, in this case, over {$1000.00} dollars for interests that were not paid since the promotion period started. I called the card company and all they said was that if I paid in full for the original amount, the interests would be waived, and that all of that was explained in the statements, which is not true. I don't see where it says that during the promotional period, interests would accrue and must be paid as if the promotion never existed. In other words, that is false advertising, no one ever said anything about that, I have never had to pay backdated interests for any promotion!!!

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I opened an amazon store card issued by synchrony bank with the specific intent of managing all of my amazon purchases in XXXX place to make them easier to track, and to get 5 % cash back on those purchases. Since the card was issued, I have made multiple payments, prior to my due date, including recently paying the full balance. However, even though my recent payment to pay off my full balance was made on XX/XX/XXXX, and cleared my bank account on XX/XX/XXXX, they are still showing the payment as " pending '' and their CS reps and a " manager '' who I doubt could manage a trip to the grocery store. The email they sent me when I made the payment CLEARLY stated that my payment would be credited within 1-2 business days. I still can not use the card, because they told me that they are holding it for 10 days because it was a " change in payment habits '' which there really isn't. I have made large payments in the past that were NOT held for 10 days. All purchases have been shipped to my home address and all payments made with the SAME checking account, so there are no fraud indicators. They claim that they " can not manually release the hold '' which we all know is a line of XXXX. I've worked for XXXX of the oldest ecommerce companies for 23 years, so I know it's a line of XXXX. Automation, XXXX and algorithms are only as good as their inputs and are not infallible, there is ALWAYS a way for a human to review and do the right thing for the customer. I literally do this for a living as an Operational Policy, Risk and Controls Analyst and I write the kind of fraud trigger rules they are referencing. If they are not going to uphold the payment clearing dates they communicate IN WRITING, they should be held accountable. Customers depend on the companies they deal with to be honest in their dealings and communication. This company is obviously not.

Consumer Complaint: I received a letter in the mail from Synchrony Bank saying I tried to open a credit account with Walgreens but they were unable to access my credit report. My credit reports are frozen. However, I never applied to any credit account with Walgreens. I called Synchrony bank, they couldn't find anything and I called Walgreens but they said everyone who tries to apply for Walgreen credit will do it online and that application goes straight to Synchrony bank. Therefore, they wouldn't have any information regarding this. Synchrony bank can only assure me that no account has been open but they can't help me with locating the source of this letter since I did not apply for any credit account with Walgreens.

Consumer Complaint: Synchrony Bank XXXX credit card Transaction date : XXXX Amount in dispute : XXXX ********************************************************** Explanation of complaint : Made payments of {$990.00} and XXXX over and above the " minimum due '' to pay the full principal amount remaining on expiring promotions. However, come to find out that heir system does not apply payments to an expiring promotion, it allocates them across all transactions, nor does it take an adequate amount through " auto-pay '' to cover expiring promotions. This despite the fact that their auto-pay enrollment pitch includes claims that you '' never miss a payment '', etc. Which is just a deliberate half-truth. You won't miss a payment, but they won't allocate those payments so as to prevent the promotional balance from defaulting so they can assess the deferred interest. Customers have to call in, fight their way through an automated phone system, hope to get a live representative that is actually helpful, and then request that payments over-and-above the minimum billed as due for the month be applied to the expiring promotions. If you do not do so, Synchrony 's system allocates the payments across all balances and assesses the accrued interest charges on the expiring promotion ( s ) ( supposedly no-interest for varying periods ranging from 6 mos to 36 mos if timely payments are made ). In addition, sending any payment greater than the minimum due ( i.e. the full amount of an expiring promotional balance item ) prevents the auto-pay from occurring, causing further issues. It is all unfair and deceptive!! They have made it as difficult as possible to avoid having the interest assessed on expiring promotional balances despite making all payments on time. I don't think any of it is any accident. Business Name : Synchrony Bank - credit card XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, FL XXXX Bus Phone : ( XXXX ) XXXX Website : XXXX : XXXX? XXXX XXXX XXXX
