Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Can't close your account
Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX Note : Synchrony will not return our call. This is the only way to get them to communicate. We had mailed Synchrony Bank a certified letter on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX that they received on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX telling them to not open another card in my name. I have never activated any Synchrony credit card and close them as soon as they came in the mail. Last year we locked down our credit in an attempt to stop Synchrony from doing this ever again. XXXX XX/XX/XXXX Synchrony e-mailed us the enclosed. We did not have a card to report lost or stolen and Synchrony did not send us this new card # XXXX. We dont have a phone number on the card that I dont have, to call and have it closed. Synchrony did send us a statement for this card # XXXX, ( enclosed ) we received it on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. The statement says it has a {$30.00} credit that was transferred from the previous card # XXXX, which had a {$0.00} balance ( see enclosed ). It was never activated and we had it closed. It says it has a {$9000.00} credit limit and {$0.00} available credit. We do not know who they sent this card to, but we did not get it. There was no {$30.00} credit on card # XXXX to transfer to card # XXXX. Did they make up this credit to get past our credit lock down? The final statement for card # XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX shows {$0.00} balance, not a credit of {$30.00}. We have never filled out an application for a Synchrony credit card, a business opened one in XXXX of XXXX and a scammer fraudulently charged to it. When we asked for a copy of the application, Synchrony said there isnt one. Card # XXXX has a {$0.00} balance as the business credited back all of the money that was fraudulently charged to the card. Synchrony had credited back the {$29.00} fee to open the card on the XX/XX/XXXX statement but still denied our fraud claim and will not correct my credit report. Solution : Synchrony- Tell me who you mailed card # XXXX to. And where you came up with a {$30.00} credit to transfer to the card # XXXX from a {$0.00} balance on card # XXXX that was closed. Stop fraudulently opening cards in my name. Stop ignoring me, as you have my phone number, e-mail, and address. Fix our credit report. Documents : E-mail from Synchrony re : lost card XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX card # XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX # XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I have diligently worked towards rectifying all inaccuracies on my credit report and greatly appreciate the assistance I've received thus far. Regrettably, I've encountered challenges with the remaining accounts despite disputing them both over the phone and through mail. Since XX/XX/year>, I've been in constant communication with these credit agencies but have been unable to resolve the issues that are hindering my progress beyond a life overshadowed by poverty. As XXXX of XXXX siblings, seeking financial support from my family is not an option. Consequently, I've heavily relied on the credit system to forge a path in the American economy. Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: I opened and financed a major transaction with Lowes via Synchrony bank. The terms and conditions initially called for 18 months of no interest. The bank changed the terms and instead assessed compounded interest charge of over {$500.00} to the account on the XX/XX/2024 statement. I am requesting that the company, in good faith, reverse the compounded interest fee. I will in turn then pay off the rest of my balance and proceed to terminate my relatioship with this institution.

Consumer Complaint: Synchrony Bank closed out my {$13000.00} CareCredit credit card. All of my information on file at XXXX, XXXX and XXXX 100 % matched what was used to apply and be approved for this credit card. I had to verify over the phone and send my photo ID with Synchrony Bank first and foremost before my application was even approved. My credit reports can collaborate and verify this as facts.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Account opened without my consent or knowledge
Consumer Complaint: This is about my buying 2 CDs online from Synchrony Bank on XXXX XXXX, 2024. In my previous XXXX years of buying CDs from them, I had never had a negative experience with Synchrony. But this current situation ( XXXX XXXX, 2024 so far ) has been a nightmare. Online on the evening of XX/XX/XXXX, I authorized Synchrony to withdraw a total of {$10000.00}, {$5000.00} each for 2 CDs, from my bank account. Not only did they withdraw that money ; they continued to withdraw money thousands of dollars without my consent. I repeatedly called them, but they kept taking more and more funds from my bank account. They even added more money to one of the 2 CDs I had just opened, even though I had not authorized that. Even when they told me they would stop taking my money, they kept trying to take it : Every time I transferred funds from another account to my checking account in order to pay my bills, Synchrony took that money if it was at least {$5000.00}. Even when I no longer had {$5000.00} in my bank account, Synchrony kept trying to withdraw more money : If there was less than {$5000.00}, they tried to withdraw that amount and then attempted another withdrawal to make it equal to {$5000.00}, which kept causing my bank to assess me {$35.00} insufficient-funds fees for each of Synchronys attempts. Every time I called Synchrony, I was shuttled to a different supervisor ( no last names given, of course ), each telling me a different thing I had to do to prove they took my money one supervisor said they didnt have it ; another said I had authorized their taking more money than the {$10000.00} total. They also said that if they discovered that they took more money than they should have, they would send me a check rather than transfer it back to my bank account. On XX/XX/XXXX or XXXX I can not remember the date, but my bank has a record of it I finally went to a manager at my bank, who reviewed the situation and then called Synchrony. My bank manager was treated entirely differently from the way I was treated. However, Synchrony still has not returned my money. The person with whom my bank manager spoke told him that they would return my money ( at least $ XXXX {$15000.00} of unauthorized withdrawals ) by XX/XX/XXXX IF they owed it to me ; he assured them that they did. I do not trust them to follow through. My bank manager said that if Synchrony failed to return my money, I should go back to see him, we would run the numbers, and he would get in touch with them again. But he also said that since the CDs had already been funded ( even with thousands of dollars I had not authorized! ), I probably couldnt get that money refunded. My bank forgave my insufficient-funds fees. They also suggested that I close my existing bank account and open a new one that Synchrony couldnt access. As of now Synchrony Bank has taken thousands of dollars from me without my permission. I plan to file a complaint with the FDIC, my congressman, Synchronys President/CEO, State Auditors office XXXX and any other agency I can think of.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I reside in NJ, on XX/XX/XXXX I went shopping to TJX in XXXX, NJ. At the check out I was offered to open up TJXRewards credit card and get 10 % off current purchase. I agreed, paid with my XXXX XXXX credit card ( photo of original receipt included, where it shows TJXs 10 % off = {$22.00}, and the amount that I paid after discount of {$210.00} ; That sums up to {$230.00} if I didnt open Rewards account ). I was told that I will receive my TJX credit card in 7-10 business days ( also shown on that photo ). I received a CC in about 2 weeks, I wasnt going to activate it until I go shopping to TJX next, so I put it with initial receipt without activating. In the beginning of XXXX I received XXXX statement from TJXRewards card with a balance due of {$290.00}, and under Purchases and other details it states MARSHALLS XXXX XXXX CA, Date of purchase : XX/XX/XXXX ( photo of original statement attached ) that is two days after opening account in NJ, and not even physically having card in my possession yet, it probably wasnt even shipped yet. On XX/XX/XXXX I called them for the first time ( screenshot of my date of call attached, that phone number is on their statements ) to report a fraud on my account, I was told they opened a dispute and I will receive something in the mail. I waited and waited till I received XXXX statement with same charges and some late fees on top ( unfortunately can not find that statement, but I have more as we move along ). I called them immediately upon receiving statement. I was told that no dispute was opened. I also was told that it was not fraud, it was charges from my original visit to TJX in XXXX ( In this case, where does the amount of {$290.00} come from? It doesnt even match either amount I was charged, with or without 10 % and why would it state XXXX XXXX XXXX California XXXX??? ). I told that person that I paid with my XXXX XXXXXXXX card, and have proof ( Bank statement also attached ), so she went ahead and opened the dispute, and I received a letter from Synchrony Bank, dated XX/XX/XXXX that they opened a claim ( photo of original letter attached ). Shortly after I received another statement with a balance of {$290.00} and $ XXXX waived late fees ( I suppose it was for the time the dispute was open, photo attached ). And then I received another letter from Synchrony Bank, dated XX/XX/XXXX ( I didnt receive it in the mail till the end of the month ) stating that I have 20 days to provide prove of my payment from another institution ( photo attached ). I called the bank throughout several times with zero help, so I anticipated no positive outcome and took a picture of my dated letter XX/XX/XXXX with prove of my payment ready to be mailed. Here is the only time the Synchrony bank is not at fault they did mail me resolution ( I have USPS informed delivery in my email box with photos of mail coming up, I saw mail from the bank 2 weeks ago, but never got it from post office ). But they should take this cases in consideration when calculate 20 days for dispute, it is especially frustrating that I DID NOTHING, but have to send them proof for their XXXX XXXX They offer no electronic communications, fax or mail only. Nobody has fax machine anymore, USPS offers terrible services. Anyway, I called the bank today XXXX to find out whats going on, they told me my case was closed on XX/XX/XXXX, they decided that I am responsible for their XXXX charges I never made. I request this review to be public, I curse the day I signed up for their rewards. STEER CLEAR FROM SYNCHRONY BANK. THEY ARE FRAUD!
