Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: Ashley Furniture Credit Card issued by Synchony does not allocate payments across promotional balances properly and does not provide detailed payment allocation on their statements. Payments above minimum due are not applied to deferred interest promotional balance but rather to fixed rate/fixed term promotions making it likely that deferred interest promotion balances are not extinguished by required date. There is no way to direct a payment to a specific promotional balance. Calling the customer service number listed on statement puts cardholder in a cue to sell other products causing multiple calls to reach actual customer service. Problem was resolved after 4 calls to reach and agent and over 30 minutes on the phone.

Consumer Complaint: I filed a complaint against PayPal Mastercard with synchrony bank. They had totally fouled up my account. I had to get you involved twice and I am still having issues. The last payment was for $ 10+ and I sent them a check even though I knew I did not owe it. finally, after your intervention, they mysteriously found the check and applied it to my account after claiming they did not receive it. Here is the RUB : they filed against my credit and drastically lowered it. these people are scum and need to be investigated. I did have good credit and now it has dropped. And they are the only people I have dealt with about money. It has been one dirty trick after another.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I purchased merchandise with my PayPal credit card ( issued by Synchrony Bank ) for the total amount of {$170.00}. One item for {$30.00} and another for {$140.00}. The seller canceled the purchase for {$30.00} and issued a refund for the same amount on XX/XX/2023. The item, which cost {$140.00}, was returned to the seller and the seller issued a refund for {$140.00}, also on XX/XX/2023. The sum of both refunds is {$170.00}. However my PayPal credit card, almost two weeks later, still shows up with a balance of {$170.00}. This balance must be XXXX as I have two refunds totaling {$170.00}. This unjustified and discriminatory delay by PayPal Credit has caused me great concern and despair.

Consumer Complaint: I opened a care credit account with deferred interest. Over XXXX years I have made every payment on time never received warnings about end of promotion period and have been charged close to XXXX dollars in interest on about XXXX in charges. I have called several times to dispute the interest and to offer a payoff to no avail. There lending practices are predatory I would never have opened an account had I known the insane amount of interest charged.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 synchrony bank approved a wire transfer from another bank to my synchrony accounts. XX/XX/XXXX Synchrony initiated transfer of {$39000.00} to my synchrony account. XX/XX/2023 synchrony restricted access to my accounts. I called synchrony and was told for my protection the transfer was on hold for some kind of review. On XX/XX/XXXX was told by synchrony that the transfer was canceled. I call every day trying to get restriction lifted. After being told that it was canceled on XX/XX/XXXX I received notification from synchrony that the transfer of {$39000.00} is completed. I call synchrony and get lied to and told that they didn't receive the money and even got hung up on by the bank manager. XX/XX/XXXX o receive notice that the money is credited on my account and start getting daily balance notice. I call every day and just get one story after another about some review. I am about to lose everything I have because I can't pay my bills.

Consumer Complaint: I have 3 accounts through Synchrony Bank ( Care Credit, American Eagle, and Ashley Furniture ), plus, much to my dissatisfaction, they run Venmo. I was charged a late fee after not being able to access my accounts. I called and resolved it through customer service, but that, in and of itself, was a hassle. I explained to the representative that the website was down for months. I can technically log in with my credentials, but all that pops up after the login is an error page saying the site is experiencing technical difficulties. This has been going on for months now. I cant access my profile information to update my address or email, and I cant see my available credit lines or balances. I wrote a complaint on XXXX website in XXXX and someone from Synchrony said they would be in touch. Its XXXX and no one has reached out. Their site is still down. If they had a physical location, I would have already gone, but thats the disadvantage everything has to be handled through a phone call that takes entirely too long. Wait time is awful, and you can tell the representatives are feeling just as burnt out.

Consumer Complaint: Received a phone call from my sister in law that someone called me from XXXX and asked me to contact them on XX/XX/XXXX. I took down the information and gave the company a call. I spoke to a guy who didnt give me a name. He stated that I owe Care Credit {$950.00} and I needed to pay today in order for my file not to go to the court tonight at XXXX. He stated that the company will garnish my wages and put a lien on my property. He also stated that ny husband and I have the capability to pay the debt so I needed to pay it and that even though my husband and I were not married when this so-called debt was done NC is a state that will allow them to go after him as well. I asked for clarification but he was only interested in telling me that I needed to pay now and that if I didnt I would have {$4000.00} in court fees. This debt was supposed to have happened in XXXX and I do not recall having Care Credit.

Consumer Complaint: I've communicated with Gap several times to have the negative reporting removed from my credit report. This card has been paid and closed since XX/XX/XXXX- they are reporting a 30 day late payment but I have not received any information regarding this nor does it show on my report when I was late. When I spoke with Gap in XX/XX/XXXX the representative shared that Gap will not remove the negative reporting on my credit report which seemed to start the timeline of removal all over.

Consumer Complaint: Hello, There is a serious problem with Synchrony bank. I had 7 different store cards and credit cards with Synchrony bank. They closed them suddenly in one day. Some of them had small balances and they reported to the credit report them as " settled amount. Please read the info below ; -I have XXXX credit score. Using Synchrony cards everyday since 2016 and pay full balance every month. -I never had any late payment with Synchrony or any other bank card, loans etc. Everything is on time. -I have a very clear credit report with only % 8 utilization that are always paid in full every month. 2 days ago I woke up with bunch of emails. Synchrony closed all of my accounts for nothing. Called customer service and they were even confused why it is happened. Amazon store card {$590.00} balance of {$20000.00} limit. Paypal Mastercard {$350.00} balance of {$20000.00} limit. XXXX XXXX {$1.00} balance of {$10.00} limit Synchrony car care {$1400.00} balance of {$10.00} limit XXXX XXXX XXXX {$0.00} balance of {$3500.00} limit Paypal credit $ XXXX of {$5000.00} limit XXXX card {$1200.00} balance of {$6000.00} limit ( They approved this card 2 days before closing all the accounts ) Now serious problem starts here ; Cards with balances reported to my credit reports as ''settled amount '' I've got an email from XXXX XXXX XXXX says ; " It looks like you settled an account with a lender. When you settle an account, you negotiate a lump-sum payment with your lender to pay back part of what you owe so that the rest is forgiven. '' For those balances statement not even closed yet. I did not even get the statements to pay the balances. -I never wanted to close the accounts. -I never attempted to not pay the balances or never attempted to negotiate for settlement. I always pay the full amount after they send me the statement. I really need an assist with this situation since it damaged my credit score so bad. I'm in the middle of renting a house and I can't right now. I've never ever experienced anything like this before. Thank you.
