Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I got a XXXX XXXX card in XXXX of XXXX. I started making payments in XX/XX/XXXX of XXXX once I was able to get into the website, I requested ebilling, however never received it or paper billing. I continued to make payments, not knowing if I was missing a portion or not. The few times I did pay more, were when I was able to get online/into the website. ( XXXX, XXXX ). Otherwise it was a guessing game, so i paid XXXX. All of my payments have been matched with a late fee, card security fee, interest. Any payments I made were zeroed out by these fees. Any payment I did make was 'posted ' a minimum of 2 days after the due date - hence the late fee, card security fee, interest. Those 'fees ' rotated and changed with the weather, I had to dive deep into the Synchrony website to even find this information- it is not easily accessible. The last time I talked to someone on their phone number was in XX/XX/XXXX. It was then I found out that the account was 'closed for non payment'.Up to that point, I was making payments - that posted to the account after the due date. Interesting, considering on my credit report as well as on their site - all my payments were marked as 'on time '. It is my understanding that if an account is closed, interest -card- late fess should not be adding up as well. In an effort to collect a debt, companies should not be making it harder. Im not trying to have this removed all together, but as this is a normal tactic for Synchrony bank/Care Credit, I need all those fees removed, a set payment amount, and a set due date that will not have them posting days later due to holiday, weekend, or whatever excuse they use to make it late. As of XXXX, I should be half thru paying this off - the total payments of XXXX as of XXXX should have me about half way thru this bill, not looking at an ever growing balance based on fees.

Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Can't use card to make purchases
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, my wife went to XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX to make some purchases less than XXXX. She tried the newer card and an older card issued to us and her as an authorized card user. It was declined and confusing. We already submitted a complaint about the lowering of the credit limit but why then now couldnt we use the card. I called and found out it was closed or marked inactive as we didnt have activity on it since XX/XX/2023. Some store cards close a person for inactivity within XXXX months. This action on the card companys part makes no sense. It is confusing and misleading. We were baffled and misinformed. We never knew such action was taken. How embarrassing to go shopping and my wife saw our balance was okay and could have used the card? This is not good how to treat customers.

Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: On receipt of e-statement for this credit card ( XX/XX/XXXX ), saw an interest charge for {$38.00}. Had paid the card online with online payment process. All three payments were posted by due date. The online system showed no outstanding payment due when payment 3 of 3 was sent but it was incorrect. There was a {$30.00} outstanding balance. The online system did not reflect an outstanding balance. The new e-statement arrived to indicate {$30.00} was left unpaid and {$38.00} interest was applied. On XX/XX/, I called Synchrony to request information on the charge. After three separate calls and one online chat which advised me to pay the {$30.00} and give the confirmation number so the interest would be removed, the interest was not removed. Why was {$38.00} interest applied to an outstanding balance of {$30.00}? Why is resolution in this matter so impersonal and unforgiving?
