Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage

Consumer Complaint: We stopped making payments due to COVID in XXXX of XXXX. We started to make payments again in XXXX of XXXX. We have repeatedly asked for a deferral of our payments to be added at the end of the loan. We have applied for their assistance program twice. Each time they give us the same numbers where they want us to pay double our mortgage payment. We can not financially make those payments. We are asking the payments we owe be deferred to the end of the loan. They are unwilling to work with us knowing we can not make double payments. We are in fear of losing our home.

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I have been attempting to complete a Short Sale of my property for over two years. I have complete numerous XXXX applications with intent for a Short Sale. I filed a complaint with CFPB in XXXX, XXXX regarding terrible communication with SPS mortgage and the denial of a short sale application. My original complaint was # XXXX. The first short sale application was denied with varied explanations provided by SPS including that the home was inhabited by my ex husband at that time, as he was " squatting '' in that home since XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, my home was scheduled for foreclosure. The date was postpones secondary to inclement weather. I then had an offer for a new buyer to complete a short sale. I went through the process with SPS, completing another XXXX and submitting all necessary documentation. In XXXX, XXXX I received notification from SPS that the short sale had been approved with a closing date of XX/XX/XXXX. The buyer and his agent were in close contact with SPS and requested a brief extension while completing an appraisal for his bank to secure the loan. The approval was for a sale price of roughly {$120000.00}. When the buyer was prepared to complete the sale, he contacted SPS and was told the application process had to be completed again. All documentation was submitted AGAIN. He was told it should be quickly re-approved and completed. Instead, SPS has now informed him that his offer is too low. They apparently completed a drive by appraisal and are now stating that the property is valued at {$140000.00}. The property is ABSOLUTELY not worth that price and certainly did not jump over {$20000.00} in value between the initial acceptance of the short sale for {$120000.00} 3 months ago. When browsing through the communication I have received from SPS, there is a statement that the short sale was not approved because I denied other programs for mortgage assistance. So once again, there are numerous " reasons '' that the company is providing for denial of the short sale. The short sale was approved in XXXX, XXXX. How can they now demand more money? what they are now asking for is more than the home is worth and more than my mortgage pay off. I vacated this property in XX/XX/XXXX, 4 years ago, and have been trying to get something done with the mortgage since that time. SPS is HORRIBLE to deal with. Communication is difficult. Responses are inconsistent to any question or concern presented. I have moved away from the area of the property. Me ex-husband vacated the property. I have made every effort to jump through whatever hoops SPS has thrown at me to satisfy the requirements to complete the short sale. They have an offer that would cover my outstanding mortgage and they APPROVED it. Now, a few months later they are denying it and asking for more money. It is utterly ridiculous. I am amazed that the buyer is still attempting to complete the purchase given his extreme frustration with dealing with SPS as well.

Issue: Trouble during payment process

Consumer Complaint: Im a XXXX XXXX and in XXXX of 2021 I asked/authorize the mortgage company to apply a little over {$4000.00} payment to the months of XXXX, XXXX and XXXX ; since I dont get paid until well into the month of XXXX. In mid XXXX, I started receiving texts and phone calls day and evening ( during work hours ) saying that I owed the month of XXXX. When I checked the bank account, they had taken a payment for XXXX then the {$4000.00} to apply payment for XXXX and XXXX and the rest was applied to the principal when I specifically said to apply to XXXX. I told them that they now needed to apply the little over {$2000.00} to XXXX and XXXX. They agreed and said it will be done in 10 business days. The calls about late payment continued and my phone calls to them telling them to stop and to apply that money to the monthly mortgage payments. Its been a month, I have spoken with numerous people and supervisors and nothin its been done. My account shows that I still owe the month of XXXX. Every time I call they say the cash in department hasnt done their job. Im running out of options and I feel helpless. They said they will not charge late fees but Im afraid it will affect my credit score. Now I just received an Early intervention letter because it shows in their system that I havent paid for 2 months. Please help.

They reinstated the written off amount XXXX submitted Proof of Claim to the Bankruptcy Court. Ive been disputing with them since then. Technically we have not missed payments. This year in XXXX Select Portfolio Servicing stopped taking payments and are trying to foreclose on our home. Throughout all our past hardships and disputes I could not figure out how to get the mortgage company to correct our account so I kept paying them, believing once all was corrected I would get my money back. Yesterday two Realtors named XXXX and XXXX XXXX came to my home pretending to be my husbands cousin trying to gain access to my home. Apparently they had been asking our neighbors questions about my husband saying they were his cousins. I denied them access never confirming names but telling them if the are from Select Portfolio Servicing the need to take me to court and to stop Harrassing me. I reported it to the local Sheriffs. Deputy XXXX took my statement including my request for extra patrolling of our area. Yesterday I sent another Rebuttal to the XXXX Complaint # XXXX. Also many disputes have been submitted to the 3 Credit Bureaus, each time Select Portfolio Servicing has corrected the false information having our Credit Scores up and down. My name is XXXX XXXX and my number is XXXX.
