Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I was informed of BBVAs acquisition by PNC bank via email notification. When I went to pay my bill on PNCs mobile banking app I was not granted access and was informed that in order to receive access to online banking I was required to open a PNC checking account. I declined opening a checking account and visited a branch to make my payment since no online payment options are available without a PNC checking account. When I went into the facility they informed me that I was also going to be charged a bank draft fee to make my payment. After trying to find a resolution to make my bill payment more accessible to me I was told that I would have to come into the branch and pay the fee every time I wanted to pay my credit card balance. I let them know that I would be completing a balance transfer and moving my remaining balance to another bank that has more excess will payment options. A couple of weeks after I was informed that per my request my account had been closed at PNC Bank. I had never requested for my account to be closed and now I do not have any accessible options to view my payment amount or due dates. They are threatening to send my balance to collection but still will not provide an accessible account payment option.

Consumer Complaint: Hello my name is XXXX XXXX. I am writing on behalf of my situation with PNC in XXXX XXXX FL ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ). They are holding my funds from me for no logical reason. On the XXXX of XXXX I deposited a check given to me by a customer who bought a painting from me. PNC said they were going to hold the check until the XXXX. On the XXXX if XXXX they took the check from my account and said it was not legitimate. On the XXXX they locked me out of my account and access to my funds due to fraud alert. I went to the branch and they said my account was shut down and they would mail me the remaining funds in my account in 7-10 days. It has been 21 days. After calling every week and talking to 3 different people all telling me they cant help me, today I had a scheduled appointment with a branch member. They made me drive to the bank just to tell me the same thing theyve been telling me on the phone for weeks. They said they have no idea when Ill get my money and its out of there hands. I was late on rent because my funds are being held for something that isnt my fault and my landlord charged me an extra {$200.00} for being late. How was I to know the check given to me from a customer was fraudulent!? I have {$480.00} remaining in that account that I have zero access to and 6 different people have told me its out of their hands and they have no idea when Ill get it.

Consumer Complaint: My home was destroyed in a fire on XX/XX/2021. My insurance company issued a check for the policy maximum within a week and I had to send it to my mortgage company. It took more than 6 weeks to get them to issue the first check, I had to go as far as to reach out to the Virginia attorney general to get them to release some money. Now they are holding the final 1/3 of the money, the house is not finished because I dont have money to pay to get the crew to work again, and I cant get a certificate to occupy the home because its incomplete. My insurance company will only pay my rent for a short time longer, at which point Im either homeless or I have to pay out of pocket to find a different place to live. The mortgage lender is PNC Bank.

Consumer Complaint: Mortgage with PNC Bank. Our taxes and property insurance are escrowed. Our property insurance renewal was XX/XX/XXXX. PNC failed, and admits that it failed to pay the insurance renewal, therefore our property insurance was cancelled. We have been without any property insurance since XX/XX/XXXX. An error resolution notice under 12.C.F.R Sec 1024.35 was sent via certified mail to the proper address for PNC Bank . PNC acknowledged receipt of the letter and on XX/XX/XXXX sent correspondence admitting that it was their fault that the policy renewal was not paid, but has done nothing to rectify and/or correct this situation. Additionally, PNC has been sending us letters of warning that they will be putting into effect force-placed insurance to for the policy lapse, and charging it to our escrow account. We have mailed, faxed and emailed documents to many people at PNC and have spent countless hours in phone calls, and even visited a local branch in person, but PNC is still sending letters about force-placed insurance, even though we have been able to lock in a new policy. The new insurance does not go into effect until XX/XX/XXXX and PNC is now saying they are going to put a force-placed policy in effect for the lapse, at our expense. We have gone out-of-pocket for various inspections to obtain new insurance and PNC has refused to reimburse us. Phone calls are not returned, and even though we now have an attorney assisting us, we are getting absolutely nowhere. PNC is clearly in violation of RESPA and something needs to be done to hold them accountable for this.

Consumer Complaint: I was arrested at The United States Probation office on XX/XX/XXXX. My purse wallet and cellphone were left in the vehicle with two individuals who stole my items and was able to access my funds that was in my PNC checking and savings accounts. I was incarcerated from XX/XX/XXXX until XX/XX/XXXX. I tried to dispute the fraudulent transactions as I had no way to access these funds from behind bars and the outcome of the dispute was these fraudulent transactions were valid. I provided them a letter of incarceration from The Bureau of Prisons detailing the dates of my imprisonment. I reported the theft to XXXX Police Department and The Attorney General of Illinois. The bank who claims zero liability on debit cards is false advertising. I have a CFPB number and it is XXXX. I talked to an individual from the bank and the evidence they used to confirm these transactions was atm footage. I wrote them back in XXXX to ask for the evidence they went by to confirm these transactions and they still have not sent them in violation of the Federal credit Act. I also have a reference from the Attorney General about my case, File # XXXX

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I went into a PNC branch to close all my PNC accounts with the branch manager XXXX XXXX. The only PNC account that I could not close or transfer was a Commercial Loan which is funds I received in XXXX from the XXXX XXXX which was not forgiven according to PNC and a dispute is in process on that final decision. A request to change my auto pay to my new bank account was faxed to XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX ( a copy is attached ) I made my XX/XX/XXXX payment at the branch but on XX/XX/XXXX the auto payment that posted to the loan was from the wrong account. On XX/XX/XXXX I sent an email to XXXX XXXX asking for her help in figuring out what happened to my request to change the auto pay to my new account. On Saturday, XX/XX/XXXX I reached out to XXXX XXXX again with an email about the issue. I have seen a reversal on the payment post dated XX/XX/XXXX. On Tuesday, XX/XX/XXXX I called PNC business banking XXXX the hold time was over 20 minutes I waited 30 minutes and hung up. Today, XX/XX/XXXX I received a reply from XXXX XXXX that I should make a payment at the branch for now. She submitted my issue to the Escalation dept. The branches are closed and I do not even have a remittance address on my loan payment statement because I was enrolled in auto pay. I called PNC again today and waited over 40 minutes, vented to the lady all over again about this mess. In the meantime they are accruing daily interest which is where I draw the line. I refuse to continue allowing this # 2 bank to profit on my hardship. They need to get their act together. I have done every to watch and reconcile this simple change request. No one ever called me. They are so big but they cant handle their mistakes. I expect a call from someone that knows something.
