Consumer Complaint: I received some money transfers in my Venmo wallet. These transfers were from Venmo members to me. Venmo informed me that my account was frozen and that I would have to verify my identity by sending in a picture of my driver 's license. I called into their support and spoke with XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) who received my driver 's license and sent my response to the evaluation team on XX/XX/22 at XXXX XXXX. I was told that this step was needed to reactivate my account to receive so that I could access my funds. On XX/XX/22 at XXXX i received an email from XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) stating that my account has been permanently deactivated for a violation that they won't explain. Also, it said my funds will be held for up to 180 days and I XXXX have access to them or not in the future. I then sent a response telling Venmo that they can't steal from me and not explain the process to reactivate my account and access my funds. The amount is substantial to me {$8700.00} and significant because I am experiencing financial and economic stress. They have not provided me an explanation or pathway to accessing funds that are mine. CFPB I could really use your help. Also, my attachment includes the XXXX emails received from Venmo and my response to them after my account was banned without a pathway to reactivation or accessing my funds.

Mostly to pay for goods over the internet, but occasionally to receive or send money to a relative ( especially at XXXX, when we sometimes purchase gifts jointly ). On XX/XX/XXXX my sister reimbursed me for a travel expense via PayPal. I had placed " hold payment '' on a rental car for her when she visited for the holidays. It cost {$550.00}. This time when she tried to reimburse me, PayPal charged me a transaction fee and placed a hold for a period of time on any balance above {$300.00}. They say I have a " business '' account. I explained I am not a business and never have been. So they have now " downgraded '' me to a personal account. But in order to get the funds released immediately for this transaction, they need my sister to input that she has " received '' the goods and services she has purchased. And they say they must still charge me the transaction fee. In the past I have received money from my sister via PayPal. I received {$100.00} from her on XX/XX/XXXX. I was not charged a transaction fee at that time. I went back through my account history and confirmed this. It's not cool that they can now call you a business and charge a transaction fee, even after you correct them. They say there is is a Friends and Family option for sending money. It is difficult to figure out how to use it. I know, because I tried.

Consumer Complaint: PayPal is refusing to close my account. They claim it is in good standing, no pending transactions, etc. My account is not in violation, nor has it been limited as of XX/XX/19 according to paypal.They have given me 5 different reasons for not being able to close it for me ( pending transactions, having to wait 7 days after request to close an account, having to wait 90 days from the last transaction, that they were seeing a pending transaction, then proceeded to freeze my account in order to fix a " glitch in the system ''. So now I cant use it if I wanted to, nor close it in my account. I contacted by phone XX/XX/19 three times because they kept refusing help. I have also emailed, chatted, and went on XXXX to contact them about this issue.
