Consumer Complaint: I am deeply saddened to share that when I logged into my mortgage portal today, I was met with a surprise. I noticed that my regular payment had almost doubled from the previous amount. It feels unfair and unjust for the insurance to increase to {$20000.00} a year. This sudden hike in price is a clear abuse of power over consumers, and it places a significant burden on regular-income families like mine who may struggle to make ends meet. I immediately reached out to the relevant parties via email to express my disapproval of this new insurance policy and requested that my previous insurance be reinstated. As a consumer who entrusts the XXXX XXXX to take care of the servicing of my loan, taxes, and insurance, I was left wondering why they would let this happen. I am hopeful that they will understand my concerns and take swift action to rectify the situation.

Consumer Complaint: We are in the HAF program ( Save the Dream ) through our state. They are currently making our payments for us until XXXX. The last payment they made was in the amount of XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. This amount was put into a suspended account because it was not the amount of the full payment. On XX/XX/XXXX, this amount was moved to the principal curtailment. We now have {$1800.00} in a prepaid principal account. This amount should not be going towards the principal. These payments are to be going to our monthly payments and should've paid for the month of XXXX. They have not applied these payments to the correct account. I have reached out to them already without any answers. Another payment will be being applied soon and I'm afraid they again will put it in the suspended amount and then into the prepaid principal. Your Loan Started XX/XX/2020 Your Loan Ends XX/XX/2050 Prepaid Principal {$1800.00} Suspense Balance {$0.00} Deferred Balance {$0.00}

Consumer Complaint: I contacted PHH Mortgage on XX/XX/23 regarding my credit report. I have been in contact with them several times since than via email and phone calls. PHH Mortgage is reporting my account is closed due to being included in Bankruptcy. I had filled an reaffirmation of the loan with them which was signed by the Bankruptcy court, my lawyer and PHH Mortgage during the Bankruptcy. The account should report being open and current. As they are sending me month statements and I'm making my monthly payments on time. I have had countless emails and phone calls with PHH Mortgage trying to correct this. It has only ended up with them sending me an email saying the bankruptcy is closed and the reaffirmation is not applicable to the loan. I have provided them all the paperwork that they asked for. I have contacted my Bankruptcy lawyer for the the reaffirmation paperwork and forward it to PHH Mortgage. I have been advised to seek an lawyer and seek legal matters pertaining to PHH Mortgage now.

Consumer Complaint: I took out a reverse mortgage several years ago. I still live in my home which I purchased almost 29 years ago. Each year the mortgage company - PHH Reverse sends me a Certificate of Occupancy and I have filled out the form and returned the form to PHH in the envelope provided. I received a Notice of Default in XXXX of this year ( 2023 ) which demanded that I pay the entire outstanding balance of my mortgage ( reverse mortgage ) to cure the default. I tried calling PHH several times to see what the basis for the default was. I was unable to get any information or resolve the issue so I have had to hire an attorney. I just learned last week that the reason for the default was that the lender determined that I " was no longer an occupant '' because they had not received the certificate of occupancy form. I looked on the PHH website for the form, and the form is not available. I can not simply download the form and send it in again and cure the default. Instead of reaching out to me to verify occupancy, or notify me that they had not received the form, and provide me with another form and the opportunity to prove that I still live in the home, PHH filed a Notice of Default demanding that I pay the entire outstanding mortgage. I do not work, I can not simply go out and get another mortgage to pay off the amount ( ~ $ XXXX ) they claim is now due. I have tried calling PHH several times. I have not been able to get through to anyone that has the ability to resolve the issue or offer a viable solution to address their baseless claim that I am no longer an occupant. PHH has made up a reason to take my home of 29 years. The Notice of Default is not based on my default or any violation of the terms of the reverse mortgage. I continue to and have continuously lived in my home for all these years. I am over XXXX years old and if they take back my home, I will be homeless. I have limited means and this will cause me more hardship as I try to resolve this with PHH and save my home. The current foreclosure proceeding has also damaged my good credit and reputation.

Consumer Complaint: My mortgage was purchased from another lender by XXXX mortgage. I do all my billing online and set automatic payments and XXXX paper statements and had a XXXX XXXX XXXX. They wrongfully placed an escrow account on my mortgage with force-placed insurance when I already had insurance on the property. I did not realize they had done this until my credit score started plummeting with late payments due to them changing my mortgage amount to include an escrow account that was and should be principal and interest only. I sent them the documents to confirm I had insurance on the home and they refunded the force placed insurance but did not remove the escrow, late payments nor did they put my account back to its original state. I spoke to XXXX person that said it takes time for an escrow analysis. Theyve now begun rejecting my mortgage payments and Id like all the negative reports removed from my credit and my account restored to its original status.

Consumer Complaint: We have had our home mortgage through PHH mortgage since XX/XX/XXXX, and purchased for {$410000.00}. We put a minimum amount down due to the interest rate being so low. We new that once our loan amount was lower, or value increased, we would be able to drop our PMI. As of today, XX/XX/XXXX, our payoff is roughly {$370000.00}. The housing industry has vastly increased since we purchased our home. In XX/XX/XXXX, we payed PHH the requested amount to obtain a Broker Price Opinion. Multiple houses on our neighborhood with similar square footage have sold for over {$500000.00}. We were confident that based on this information our Broker Price Opinion would adequately reflect the market increase. Upon contacting PHH and requesting an update multiple times, we were advised that the BPO came in at {$420000.00}. Perplexed by this, we had them send us a copy of the appraisal. We were rather surprised to see that the appraiser forgot to include any of our fully finished walk out basement in the basement square footage portion of the BPO. The bedroom, bathroom, and number of rooms on the BPO repflected the rooms in the basement. Pictures of these rooms were also included in the BPO. We contacted PHH, who also has the original appraisal from XXXX, which reflects the basement square footage. The original appraisal was a fully in-depth appraisal performed by a state certified appraiser, not a real estate agent performing a broker price opinion. PHH said they were aware of this, and would take it into consideration, but also requested the legal description of our house. We submitted all information requested, even though they should have it. The most recent email from PHH is requesting additional legal documents that reflect the propertys square footage. PHH gave us the original mortgage based off our original appraisal showing a total square footage of XXXX. This appraisal was considered an acceptable documentation of our homes square footage when obtaining a loan from PHH. We have gone back and forth, and PHH refuses to use our square footage from the original appraisal, and refuses to allow another BPO to include all of the homes square footage. PHH is expressing predatory lending habits and is taking advantage of a XXXX veteran

Consumer Complaint: I was in a XXXX XXXX and my case was dismissed .My family was affected by XXXX XXXX, I lost my job. I requested forbearance was ignored. I requested loan modification. All applications were marked received but the company would never comply with my request for my FHA loan. I even got an approval letter had it notarized and sent back for processing and was told my application was denied because a middle initial was left off a signature page. We quickly redid the entire application paid the notary fee again and the mortgage company replied a week later saying they received an email from my former attorney that said we wanted to cancel our request. The lender would not supply a copy of the letter/correspondence and said there were no relationship managers available to assist me for 30 days. With a day of this phone call I began receiving a letter per day, one application, two rights and responsibilities, 3 statement, 4 preforeclosure letter. No one will return my call or work with me on my FHA loan. I even sent the full amount of 5 months and my payment was returned. I also saw my final bankruptcy payment is listed on my statement and said unapplied. This loan servicer is not willing to comply or accept any terms established to help save homes.

Consumer Complaint: My father passed away on XX/XX/2023, and I contacted the reverse mortgage company on XX/XX/2023, to get a payoff quote. I was told it would take XXXX to XXXX hours to receive the quote and asked for it to be dated to the end of the month. That should have given me about XXXX days to receive and process the payoff to them. They waited until the XXXX of the month to send me the quote which was due on the XXXX. The quote I received from them contained XXXX worth of bogus fees consisting of : XXXX for an appraisal that did not occur, XXXX for title examination fee, and XXXX for property inspection. All of this to pay off a home equity line of credit with a total outstanding balance of XXXX. They also told me that paying off the balance would not generate a paid in full letter or any other kind of release documents. They said I would have to call back for those. The company did order an appraisal which I rejected when I was contacted to schedule it by a random person in my area. I'm not sure what kind of title examination that was required on a property that owed less than XXXX and there has not been a property inspection. Suspecting that this company would use as many unscrupulous methods as possible to squeeze every dime out of my father 's XXXX, I wired a XXXX payment shortly after I requested the payoff quote, which should mean that they owe me money and they have yet to credit the account with the XXXX. Because I've previously been through a different situation with this company which wasted months of time and hours on the phone, I decided to go ahead and file this complaint sooner rather than later.
