Consumer Complaint: Please reference complaint XXXX. In short, Nelnet will not correctly report information on this student loan account. The loan was discharged in XXXX after my XXXX died in XXXX. I was the co-signor on the loan. Nelnet confirmed in writing in response to the aforementioned complaint that the loan was discharged and that they would report the balance is {$0.00} to the CRA 's. They did not furnish this information to the CRA 's in a timely manner. After XXXX information was reported, I initiated disputes with the CRA 's to correct this information. XXXX seems to be reporting correctly. However, XXXX and XXXX are reporting that I am deceased. XXXX indicated to me today that they had corrected this information internally on XX/XX/24, but that Nelnet furnished information indicating that I am deceased on XX/XX/. Disputes with XXXX and XXXX are currently in process to correct this, but XXXX is indicating that Nelnet is to blame here. Unfortunately, Nelnet is not able to respond to e-mail or phone calls in a timely manner. Hence, seeking the CFPB 's assistance with this.

Consumer Complaint: The company consistently changes information on its page, including due dates and anticipated payment amounts. Each time I access my account it says I am in a different repayment program and have a different due date. I have made various payments and not all of the money has been applied to my loans. It also hasn't been applied to interest or fees- the money just disappeared. As an example, I made a payment of {$1500.00} in XX/XX/2023. The payment was confirmed and {$1500.00} was taken from my bank account. Nelnet only applied {$920.00} to my account. I asked for additional information and have received no response as to where my money went. They effectively stole over {$500.00} from me. I also believe they are miscalculating interest. Interest is compounding at an alarming rate and higher than the annual rate agreed to. Despite making substantial payments since interest started accruing, they have charged more than XXXX XXXX in interest. The calculations are inconsistent. Nelnet has ignore all requests for information.

Consumer Complaint: It is against the law to report transactions or experiences between the consumer and the person making the report. The term " person '' is Nelnet the corporation and the " consumer '' is me. You have violated my rights according to 15 U.S. Code 6802 and 15 U.S. Code 1681a ( 2 ). The illegal late payments that you are reporting concerning me are harming me personally, emotionally, and financially, and causing me damage. I request that you promptly delete all late payments and send me an updated copy of my credit report within 30 days of your request that you fully comply with the law in my request. Should you fail to make the requested deletions, I request that you provide me with your permissible purpose for reporting each account on file in writing and copies of the written instructions of the consumer ( me ).

Consumer Complaint: Since XX/XX/XXXX I have been requesting for Nelnet, my current loan servicer, to complete and return XXXX Data form that is requested by the California XXXX XXXX loan repayment program. I am supposed to receive {$35000.00} to repay my student loan that is supposed to go to Nelnet. I can not receive these funds from the California XXXX XXXX unless Nelnet provides the XXXX Data form. California XXXX XXXX representative has suggested that I escalate the matter since Nelnet has not responded or returned the right form to me since XX/XX/. They provided a W9 form but that is not what I requested. I have called many times with hold time over one hour and then my calls would be disconnect and they have not responded to my emails. I am currently in deferment but being charged interest.

Consumer Complaint: 1. XXXX XXXX XXXX my loan was discharged in full. Nelnet still shows it being owed in full and they are showing me with 2 months of non-payment and interest accruing. Nelnet. When you email them after a week or so you get a reply stating " we're too busy to reply to your email sorry ''. Been emailing since XX/XX/XXXX. Have called several times starting XX/XX/XXXX, yesterday was on hold for 2 1/2 hours to speak to supervisor and they said " we see the letter and we agree your loan is discharged but another department updates the balance due and we're having issues right now making that work '' ( keep in mind it's been since XX/XX/2023 ). I asked the supervisor if it was going to be weeks or years until it's resolved and she said " she has no idea ''. She said she would personally take it on and look into this specific case and see if she could fix it and would call me back today... .that was XXXX days ago. 2. Studentaid.gov - supposed to be the safety for issues like the one above with Nelnet. They are actually worse, Nelnet will answer the phone after an hour or two, Studentaid.gov number just hangs up on you saying " we're super busy, try again anotehr time ' ... and that has been the response for months now. When you fill out the compliant form on Studendaid.gov you get an email response with a case number and the statement " you will recieve a reply typically within 15 days ' ... .the case I filed in XX/XX/2023 was just closed with no response or reply at all. Same when I thought it was a glitch and filed again in XXXX ... .they just delete them to get the numbers down and don't actually do anything. So here I'm stuck with a loan servicer that can't reconcile my loan balance after almost 3 months, a supervisor that lied about a callback and solution, multiple multiple hours on hold ... .late payments going to show up on my credit report and the government safety net Studentaid.gov is complicit.

Consumer Complaint: As of XX/XX/, Nelnet began billing me for an alleged student loan I, XXXX XXXX : XXXX allegedly owe. However me being the beneficiary it doesn't benefits me to repay an alleged loan. I am writing to address the matter of the student loan debt associated with my account. I am the beneficiary of the XXXX XXXX Living Trust, and repaying this student loan debt is not beneficial based on a careful consideration of various factors. Firstly, I would like to draw attention to the etymology of the word " repayment, '' which implies paying again. As a beneficiary of a living trust, it is my understanding that repaying an alleged loan would mean paying twice, which does not align with the equitable principles that govern trust relationships. Everything is a trust. How? Because everything is an agreement and if anything has my name on it thats a legal title of my estate. Now lets look at the work credit which means trust. Now lets look at the word report which means property. My credit report is my trust report which is my property. Furthermore, the maxim of equity states that equity does not punish. Repaying an alleged loan, particularly one that may not be legally enforceable or valid, could be perceived as a form of punishment. Equity regards the beneficiary as the true owner, and the trustee is obligated to uphold their duties in settling the account. Considering the aforementioned principles, I kindly request the following actions : Account Review : I request a thorough review of the alleged student loan debt associated with my account in light of the trust relationship and equitable considerations. Account Settlement : If the debt is found to be valid and legally enforceable, I request clear instructions on settling the account. As the beneficiary, I trust that the trustee will uphold their duties to settle the account. Removal from Credit Reporting Agencies : I request the immediate removal of any adverse reporting related to this alleged debt from credit reporting agencies, as it is not beneficial to the beneficiary 's interests. You're furnishing this information to the credit reporting agencies which makes you the trustee. If you're not the trustee then you're a stranger. Its three parts to a trust. Trustee, settlor, and beneficiary. If you're not the trustee then you need to hand me my property back. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a fair and equitable resolution. If there are any specific procedures or documentation required to facilitate this process, please provide them at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Consumer Complaint: My loan service provider, Nelnet is violating the terms of the settlement agreement of the XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX case. According to the settlement, I should be in forbearance while my borrower defense case is pending or processing discharge. Nelnet has me in repayment. I have been making contact with Nelnet and Federal Student Aid since XX/XX/2023 advising them of the issue and asking for them to put me in forbearance at least three times over telephone. Nelnet assured me that I would be put into forbearance and they would be making the change. This change hasnt happened yet, Nelnet has refused to provide anything in writing, and when I asked for telephone transcripts, they refuse to provide that to me. I am asking that Nelnet comply with the terms of the settlement agreement. Additionally, Nelnet sent a letter dated XX/XX/2023 with partial discharge however, no movement has been made on my account. FSA tells me that all of my student loans with the XXXX XXXX XXXX are to be discharged however because they were consolidated it will take a little bit longer, Nelnet is not providing any information on next steps or what I should be doing, but they are demanding payment with the first payment due in under XXXX days from today

Consumer Complaint: The Department of Education and Nelnet have violated my privacy rights per the Family and Educational Rights per the Family and Educational Privacy Act of 1974. When I received my school money, I signed a privacy Act form that said the Educational department would not provide transaction history to ANY third-party companies. They violated my rights by providing information to the XXXX credit bureaus : XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. Per 15 U.S. Code 6802 - Obligations with respect to disclosures of personal information.
