Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I made a payment of {$10000.00} that I indicated would apply to the highest-interest loan on my account ( 6.540 %, unsubsidized, XXXX XXXX in their system ). I specifically indicated that I wanted to pay by group, and picked group AI. They did not provide a receipt for my payment at all. They instead allocated the payment between several loans, including some of my subsidized, lower-interest loans that I don't want to pay off yet. I attempted to call them on XX/XX/2023 to rectify this issue, but it's not possible to reach them due to their increasing call wait times. Meanwhile, interest will continue to accrue every day this is not resolved.

Consumer Complaint: I have received an email that the borrowers defense would apply to me. While waiting for that to take effect, my loan was transferred from great lakes to nelnet. My balance was approximately {$6300.00} ( I have proof ). A few days ago I was looking to see if it has gone through yet, and my balance is now {$9500.00}. There is no record of why or where that came from, it just appeared. And now it is accruing interest and says I have to begin payments.

My payment date amount and date has not been updated yet for what I am supposed to pay in XXXX. It still has a payment of {$0.00} and due date of next year. I hear of people getting through on the phone after 3 hours but I can not sit on the phone that long due to work. I have emailed them with no response. Also their website crashes constantly.

Consumer Complaint: My complaint is against Nelnet and XXXX. During the last week in XXXX, I spoke with a representative from Nelnet about the XXXX program and I decided to apply because the rep explained its benefits. The federal government is touting how easy XXXX is, but lenders like Nelnet are not making it easy. I applied for XXXX manually because I am making less money than last years XXXX. Nelnet requested I submit my paystub to them, even though I already submitted to studentaid.gov. The Nelnet website wasnt allowing me to upload the documents, so I submitted to the email they provided. I never got a confirmation. So, days later, the site was back up so I submitted again. They said they received the application on XXXX and it would take 10-15 days. I received an email today that it would take another 10-15 days from today. I feel like lenders are stalling so that borrowers are forced to pay higher payments and higher interest. Regarding XXXX : I had to go to XXXX to learn how to bypass their automated system. I applied for PSLF last year, received a confirmation letter, and never heard anything. I couldnt reach XXXX because you need account information to bypass the phone system, but I never got an account because I finally learned there was an issue with my application. Wait times are so long that I took a day off work on Monday to try to get these things figured out and they are so far from being figured out its insane. These lenders are taking advantage of us and breaking us down and they must be held accountable. I have filed two complaints on studentaid.gov and I contacted my Congressperson as well.

Consumer Complaint: I am unable to reach anyone at NelNet by phone. The website frequently crashes. I applied for the XXXX plan XX/XX/2023. I have not been put on the plan yet. I have received a letter saying I have a balance due XX/XX/2023. However, I login and the balance says " XXXX '' owed until XX/XX/2023. I emailed XX/XX/2023 to followup on these questions, have not heard back. Everytime I call, it says the wait time is too long and to call back. If I elect to wait, I wait XXXX hours, and then the automated service says the call center is closed ( even when their listed business hours say they should still be open ). My concern is that I don't know how much I am supposed to pay, or when it's actually due, and interest is accruing this whole time. It is not transparent, there's no one to go to for help.

Under 15 U.S.C. 1666B A creditor may not treat a payment on a credit card account under an open and consumer creditor plan as late for any purpose.
