Issue: Improper use of your report

Subissue: Reporting company used your report improperly

Consumer Complaint: Navy Federal Account XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX blatantly infringe upon federal regulations, as stipulated by multiple statutes. Primarily, 15 USC 1681a mandates precise consumer information reporting. In this instance, the reported accounts fail to meet this standard, constituting a clear violation. Furthermore, the absence of a clear and conspicuous opt-out mechanism, mandated by 16 CFR 313, points to non-compliance, reinforcing the violation claim. Additionally, violations of 15 USC 6802 and 15 USC 6803 are glaring due to the absence of clear consent for information sharing, directly violating privacy standards. The violation of 15 USC 1681b underscores a failure to adhere to permissible purpose requirements, further supporting the factual claims. Moreover, the reported accounts allegedly breach IRS Pub 4681 and 5 USC 5528, as discharged debt is purportedly not reported as income, infringing upon tax and disclosure obligations. These violations encompass not only the illegal reporting of transactions but also the sharing of consumer non-public information with non-affiliates, actions explicitly deemed unlawful. The solid foundation for these claims is deeply rooted in the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 USC 1681a, 15 USC 1681b ), Code of Federal Regulations ( 16 CFR 313 ), and pertinent statutes ( 15 USC 6802, 15 USC 6803, IRS Pub 4681, and 5 USC 5528 ). These factual assertions demand immediate corrective action, including account rectification and compliance with the stipulated laws. Failure to address these violations may lead to legal consequences, as substantiated by the extensive legal framework governing such matters.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Funds not handled or disbursed as instructed

Consumer Complaint: I deposited my check on Friday, XX/XX/XXXX, and inquired about the availability of full funds from Navy Federal Credit Union. They informed me it would be available by XX/XX/XXXX. However, upon checking my account, I found that {$670.00} of my total deposit of {$890.00} is being delayed due to a precautionary measure. The delay is based on the bank 's reasonable cause to believe that the check may be uncollectible from the paying bank, supported by confidential information. The notification assures that if the paying bank honors the check, I can expect to receive the funds within 5 business days. The message acknowledges the inconvenience and expresses apologies, emphasizing the security of my account as their top priority. For inquiries, I can call toll-free at XXXX or send a secure message through online banking at navyfederal.org. Written correspondence can be directed to Navy Federal Credit Union, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, VA XXXX.

Issue: Getting a line of credit

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I applied to a personal line of credit with Navy Federal Credit Union in an attempt to consolidate more my business with the institution. The range of the LOC is XXXX XXXX XXXX for non service members. Despite having a good salary, very low debt to credit ratio and a high credit score, Navy Federal provided a {$500.00} credit limit. I inquired if a reason behind the decision could be provided. Navy Federal reps could not give that information and instead advised that if I accepted the terms I could then request an additional increase. I reluctantly took the offer, went back through my credit report and found nothing consistent with this reasoning given my very high credit limits granted by other financial institutions. I believe this should be looked into after hearing about NFCUs class action for mortgage denial rates against XXXXXXXX XXXX

Issue: Problem with additional add-on products or services

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I was coming out of XXXX XXXX XXXX where XXXX men of XXXX approached me asking to help them. They needed money transferred to a XXXX card from a XXXX XXXX account. Due to feeling afraid and bodily harm, I did my best to comply after the XXXX became irate and defensive. I handed my phone over where my bank app was open and someway somehow, they were able to open up a personal expense loan for {$7000.00} dollars. They claimed it was their money, I immediately called XXXX XXXX where they explained they opened up a loan. I did not understand how this was able to happen as there should have been a security window to get through. For example, code word or social security number. XXXX XXXX received an affidavit of forgery and investigated it further to realize no error was done. I honestly disagreed with this investigation, so I filed an appeal. At the end of the day, I was placed in harm 's way and XXXX XXXX still has this loan open where I am unable to make payments. I feel this needs to be wiped off my credit. While it says, I am the borrower of the loan - I did not authorize this. These XXXX men were able to get through to get a loan without proper security measures.

Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account

Subissue: Transaction was not authorized

Consumer Complaint: On or about XX/XX/XXXX I went online to sign up with XXXX, reputable dating site. Upon signing up and paying an introductory amount of {$19.00}, I noticed somehow I was redirected to another site. It appeared to be associated with XXXX so I proceeded on. At some point, the amount escalated to {$49.00} per month which included " ALL '' taxes and fees. Further, I noticed my account was being deluged with guys from all over the World. Upon notifying the company, I learned that in fact this was not the dating site for XXXX but a company called Date My Age, an XXXX site. Since I had already paid I remained on the site for {$49.00} which is comparable to other sites. Sometimes in XXXX, XXXX, by accident I found that this company had been making unauthorized charges in varying amounts ranging from $ XXXX {$390.00}, sometimes numerous debits in 1 day on consecutive days. The amount may be over {$10000.00} between XXXX. On or about XX/XX/XXXX, I reported this to my XXXX, Navy Federal Credit Union. They have done nothing but deny all my claims even though XXXX has refused to cooperate or even return the bank calls. I have provided the bank with numerous documents and photos for evidence which they have blatantly ignored to this date XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX is clearly a SCAM dating site XXXX FAKE PROFILES to entice people to spend a lot of money. They have an ANTI SCAM POLICY for refunds for FAKE PROFILES but they DO NOT honor it. Further, there are thousands of other people who have been Scammed by XXXX, whereby the company makes UNAUTHORIZED charges. Banks continue to allow XXXX to steal rather than protecting their own clients. I will be uploading additional documents as I get them

Issue: Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage

Subissue: Application denials

Consumer Complaint: Applied for a HELOC with Navy Federal Credit Union for the amount of XXXX. This amount was only a small fraction of the equity in my property. The XXXX was XXXX but NFCU wanted me to pay for an appraisal. I paid for that service and of course the apprising company out of XXXX XXXX SC numbers were less at $ XXXX. I disagreed with the numbers submitted but the loan originator basically said move on from it. A number of documents were requested and sent ( taxes, incomes, insurances, and much more ). Some of the documents were being requested more than once or twice. I told the loan originator, I felt this was over for just a HELOC. Over the last few years, many accounts were opened with no problem. Credit card and vehicles loans were approved in minutes. Credit cards with limits of XXXX, vehicle loans XXXX and XXXX, respectfully. The XXXX vehicle loan was paid of early. My credit score at the time ranged from 790-812 with the three reporting agencies. The loan originator told me that her calculations showed that my debt to income was 55 % the reporting agencies at it from 26-30 %. I offered to send it but was denied stating, she is going with whats on her computer. I do my DD before applying for anything and have other accounts with other financial institutions, no problem. I applied for a XXXX personal loan ( 11.19 % ) and was approved within 24hours with NFCU a few days later. I took on higher interest rates because of this denial. The payment for the personal loan is greater than what the HELOC would have been at the time with low interest. {$420.00} per month. By the way, NFCU always send a message to my account noting my excellent payment history. But I still got denied for a HELOC.
