Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I have had an incredibly difficult time trying to pay off my student debt, instead of adjusting payment options, or allowing me / working with me to make changes, if I have a 'tight ' month Im just punter to forbearance which means I am still accruing debt in interest.

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: Over the past 10 years navient has steered me to forbearance and deferment. Only in the past few months have they been more open to me using a repayment income-based plan. I think they're thieves! It's really ridiculous how much student loan there is in this country and how hard it is to pay it back or get rid of it.

Consumer Complaint: On my XXXX it shows that Navient originated a loan for XXXX XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. It still just shows as originated- since XX/XX/XXXX. Was it supposed to be cancelled? Has it been repaid in the subsequent consolidation and they never updated the status? Is this the one their lender XXXX XXXX charged off in error since it was paid in consolidation?

Consumer Complaint: After I graduated college from XXXX University. I couldnt make payments. After a few months I get a phone call saying that they whoever they were worked as a third party for XXXX University to help students get into a payment plan. They only offered forbearance. No other options were given or provided. It sounded kinda weird but I went along with it. Whoever I talked to connected me right to Navient and within a few minutes of the phone call my loans went into forbearance. Well for 3 years this went on! No options for anything other than forbearance was given or provided to me wither by XXXX University 3rd party service provider nor Navient. 3 years of collecting interest. Not even a mention of Income Based Repayment plan. I was basically unemployed the entire time. I still am after 5 years! I was steered into forbearance. I complained to the Department of education they just tell me to work with my servicer, who got me into forbearance! Since then I've defaulted because I defaulted I cant get into IDR. Where does this end? Bankruptcy? Federal court? Department not taking responsibility, the servicers are not taking responsibility. I got into IDR for 1 year even with defaulted student loans! The student loan program is sooo messed up there is no end. 5 years cant afford 1 cent to make a payment all because my servicer NAVIENT and XXXX University steered me into forbearance! Why should I make any repayment! It hasnt gotten me a job! just extreme poverty with no ending in sight! And you guys arent going to do anything but tell me to complain to the department of education. Basically I have been defrauded by NAVIENT and XXXX UNIVERSITY over my education and student loans! To this day I am still being defrauded!

Consumer Complaint: I was established with a rate reduction plan with navient private loans to pay {$340.00} a month and set agreed dates per month for 12 months in 2017. The funds were drafted from my account via auto debit. In the months of XXXX, XXXX and XXXX of 2017 the funds were still drafting as agreed however the company didn't notify me that i needed to enroll in another rate reduction plan. And the funds agreed of the {$340.00} still continuing to draft out leaving me to believe things were fine as agreed. I contacted navient and spoke to countless agents to correct this issue. Each one avoids the subject any way they can. I have recorded calls from each agent i speak with every time i call. Not at any point was i told the rate reduction program was ending or needed to be reenrolled or even that the payments had been increasing. I asked why the payments would continue to draft at {$340.00} if the payment was increased and got the response " we are going to take what ever money you owe us '' and dont have to notify you. '' The reports show 60 days late. I have disputed this many times with navient and no help. I have disputed with the credit bureaus and nothing has changed. NAVIENT has been the worst company to deal with. I continued to call for 2 years to have my due date changed. Each call was lies and being told to talk to this department then that department would say to talk to the other department. Back and forth between departments to simply resolve the matter in date changes. Surprisingly some of the late fees they charged were removed after i called and spoke to multiple supervisors.

Consumer Complaint: I opened up a Loan with Sallie Mae in 2016 for the semester for an estimate of {$5000.00}. I had forgotten to check off the interest only option, which apparently I am obligated to pay 50-100 a month whilst attending college. I tried to reason with Sallie Mae but with no luck. I have tried to explain that I can only make the payments AFTER I am done with college but refuse to help me and is threatening to put my account in default.

Consumer Complaint: I had noticed on XX/XX/XXXX that my student loan principal had gone up unexpectedly. Upon reviewing my account I noticed that since XX/XX/XXXX my payment plan was changed without my authorization. On XX/XX/XXXX I called Navient to inquire about why my student loan payments were only being applied to interest and not principal. I was unable to gather any information from the Navient representative other than I had {$1000.00} worth of unexplained unpaid interest and that I was on an income based repayment plan. I emailed the company that evening to attempt to gather more information.
