Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I called navient about my private student loans at XXXXXXXX XXXX to cancel my XXXX payment. I was then told I would be removed from the rate Reduction Program and I would have to call back in XXXX to reinstitute the rate Reduction Program so I could resume payments. Previously my account was put into the rate Reduction Program in XX/XX/XXXX. I called today XX/XX/XXXX as instructed, to reinstitute the rate Reduction Program for my private student loans I was then told a payment had been already posted to my account on XX/XX/XXXX for the agreed-upon amount from the terms discussed in XXXX of XXXX. The navient employee I spoke to said that I had received unclear information from the XX/XX/XXXX phone call, he told me that the agent may have said could vs. would as far as being removed from the program either way the problem was and a payment of {$300.00} was removed from my account without my knowledge when the agent on XX/XX/XXXX told me my payments would be canceled and I would have to subsequently call back to re-enroll in the program. I spoke to navient for 54 minutes discussing this problem there is nothing more to do at the time I want to lodge my complaint and I want this to be evaluated because this is not the first time that I feel as though I have been deceived or misled by this lender as well as other lenders such as XXXX XXXX and Sallie Mae when it comes to my private student loans in the past. I have never had a specific example with dates and times as to my feelings about being misled.

Consumer Complaint: Creditor is reporting accounts that are invalid and unverified. XXXX, XXXX and XXXX have investigated this account and they concluded the account was not matching my records of being assigned to me. I would like proof these accounts were disputed per FCRA/ FDCPA. This is causing me anguish and its slandering my good name. Please block this account from my report so I can breathe again.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I called to follow up with Navient regarding additional information about my loans. I was not understanding why I still owed close to the amount that I initially took out back in XXXX and or XXXX. I think it is also important to include that I filed a complaint with CFPB on XX/XX/XXXX complaint number XXXX-XXXX. Today when I called Navient, starting at XXXX, once I put in my social security number to pull up my account, I got a message saying that " the office is now closed. '' I found this strange because I called around the same time on XX/XX/XXXX. I looked on-line and called 3 other numbers with the same response once I put in my social security number. I called the original number one last time at XXXX however this time I did not put in my social security number. Each time it prompted me to put in that information I said " customer service. '' Magically my call was then directed to a customer service agent. Once I was able to talk to someone, they informed me that in XXXX I Called looking for a lower loan payment and that I agreed to an " interest only '' repayment plan. I was really taken back because I don't understand how I was told I was not able to change any payment plan because of something I clearly didn't understand was just interest. Considering when I log onto my account it says " estimated payoff date is XX/XX/XXXX. I am not sure how that is even a possibility given the information she gave me. On the loan details it says " rates are set by lender '' when I asked who the lender was, she stated Navient. I was told the interest rates are based on the stock market rates from when I took out the loan. I also asked at what point does the interest rate cap. The response was that " it does not have a cap. '' I asked what is legal, and she told me the lawyers looked at it so its legal. I went through all of my loans and I don't believe the interest rate is based on the market when I took out the loan because there is a loan that I took out in XXXX that is at 7.5 % and 2 others that were taken out in XXXX that are at 12 %. The customer service representative told me there is nothing she can do for me other than place my loan in forbearance. I said I was calling about trying to get my loans paid off. Interestingly enough when I brought up the fact that I had called 5 different times and when I put in my social security number and it said the office was closed. Her response was " what are you getting at? '' Well, what I'm getting at is that I find it oddly coincidental that I filed a complaint and was not able to get through to an agent until I didn't identify my account. It was then that she said my best chance was to have another bank buy out my loan. Literally, this was the first time anyone from Navient said that. Also, this is the first time anyone made mention to a repayment plan that I ( guess ) I agreed to in XXXX. I took picture of my call log and actually went back and called the number and went recreated the response to answering my call. the first time I put in my social security number and the " office was closed '' ... .I called back and did not put in my social security number and again, magically, I was connected to a representative. I will be happy to provide the recording.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: I attended university from XXXX to XXXX, this loan was obtained in between my years of attendance to pay for tuition. I began paying this loan immediately after school as it was a {$10000.00} loan and I wanted to tackle the balance right away and feel accomplished about it. I am not even sure how to express the frustration and disgust of what happened from XXXX to present but the loan was transferred to 4 or 5 different lenders without any notification to me. I would sometimes receive a statement or letter in the mail from the new company and i would try to call the previous company that held the loan and they for the most part could not help me because they had nothing to do with the loan anymore. I got so overwhelmed and frustrated trying to track the loan and understand what or why that was happening. The next thing i noticed was the increase in the balance and the interest changing each time it was passed around. Even though i was making payments my loan all of sudden was increasing in balance. I argued with the lenders and asked for explanations and never received answers. The suggested deferrment and forbearance and suggested it was a good way to stop paying for awhile. i have had multiple deferrments and forbearances and then i noticed after that happened the balance kept increasing. i tried to make payment plans with the lender and then low and behold the loan was moved again. I have never felt so deceived and angry about something that is so personal to me. I worked my XXXX off in school and my parents could not afford the tuition entirely so i required loans. This loan was suggested by the school and it happened so easy i was delighted. And they make you think once you are done school you make low monthly payments and easy peasy it will be gone in no time. That would be manageable but that is not what has happened. i was deceived and the loan was tossed around and my life in the process. I have no issue paying the original balance of the loan which was $ XXXX less any payments i made from XXXX to present. that is what is fair and that is all i would be able to handle. I would not have gone to school if i had to take out a $ XXXX loan because i cant afford that. This is criminal what they have done and i have been beggin for loan forgiveness and help for the actions they have taken. Please contact me as i would really appreciate someone to finally reach out and help me.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Navient is consistently misapplying my payments. I make an overpayment each month to my loans. I always select to be billed in full for my next monthly payment rather than having my payment due date advanced. On more than one occasion, my payment due date has been advanced despite my request not for that to occur. My default profile setting even says how to apply my overpayment. I have my student loans set on automatic payment. I would not have caught these misallocation if I didnt check my statement on a monthly basis. Who knows how many consumers are being taken advantage of this unethical organization. I have to call in each time to get this corrected. Most recently, the representative would not give me a reference or ticket number for the correction. My payment due date was advanced on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX. This is just within the past year. It should not have been advanced and I should have been billed monthly. By advancing my payment due date, my overpayments are not being applied strictly to principal. This allows Navient to charge me more interest since my principal is not decreasing accordingly. This is illegal and wrong.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX, Navient reported me as 30, 60, and 90 days late on my account. I filed for a loan consolidation and a repayment plan. I have submitted my paperwork approximately 5 times now, but every time I turn around, they say the never received the paperwork and that I'm hundreds of dollars behind on my account. They either put my account in forbearance or deferment instead of getting me on an affordable payment plan. At this point, I'll never be able to repay all of my loans because of the interest rate.

Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged

Consumer Complaint: I requested information on my loans. I noticed my loans went up from XXXX to XXXX. I took a voluntary forbearance they call it from XX/XX/18-XX/XX/18. I took this because of financial hardship. They wrote back telling me increase from XXXX-XXXX was interest charged. So during my forbearance time they added XXXX in interest to my principal. I already can't pay what I owed with interest and they add on almost 4K!!! This is absolutely wrong. How will I ever pay these back with constant increase? Even before it jumped up, my loans were not going down and I pay every month.

Consumer Complaint: I have worked for the county and or state for the past 10 years in front line positions in which I qualify for the loan forgiveness program. Every time I called Navient for assistance as I could not afford to pay my student loan, they would direct me to do a forbearance or deferment which I did ; however, I was never informed or given the option of the income based repayment plan nor told that this plams as opposed to a deferment or forbearance would count toward the loan forgiveness plan. I reached the 10 year mark for having my loans forgiven and was informed that due to not being on the right plan, I had another 8 years to go! This is unfair as I have worked jobs in which I am due and qualify to have my loan forgiven yet I jave bedn railroaded ans forced to pay longer. It's not fair & it's not my fault that they only gave me the options of deferment or forbearance.

Consumer Complaint: Between XXXX and XXXX, and on numerous occasions, I was pushed towards refinancing options that would have eliminated my rights as a federal student loan holder. Navient suggested that refinancing all my student loans to one " average rate '' would save me money, which is simply not true. I fortunately did not pursue this option, because I learned that I would no longer be eligible for forebearance or deferment of my loan. I feel the need to report this misleading practice because Navient may target other unsuspecting young individuals in a scummy attempt to line their pockets with more money.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: Over the past 5 or more years we have requested that Navient work with our daughter ( a single mother of XXXX ) and us ( co-signers who are retired ) to buy some time and reduce stress so our daughter could eventually be in a situation to make regular payments on her student loans. We have made several regular and partial payments over a long period of time and yet continue being harassed by Navient with phone calls and with refusal to work with our daughter. When we do ( which is rare ) answer one of their calls and request repayment based on discretionary income basis, etc. we are denied any assistance and get hounded about making full and immediate payment. Our daughter is working hard to support her family but does not make enough income to make full, or at times, partial payments. My wife and I are both retired and social security benefits are our primary source of income for paying our bills, etc. We are confident that with time, our daughter will be able to repay what she can as she can but, Navient doesn't seem willing to work with her or us. They are rude over the phone and unresponsive to written communication.
