Consumer Complaint: I hold a student loan that was originally serviced through Sallie May, this loan however was transferred to Navient 2014. When this loan was taken over by Navient I was denied public student loan forgiveness which I was insured through the Sallie May loan. Formerly I was on an income driven repayment plan, however was not notified of my yearly obligation to re-certify my income. Without notice I was removed from the income driven repayment plan, I was further denied an income driven repayment plan and my student loan payments are unmanageable as the payment has increased to more than is affordable.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I signed up for a XXXX XXXX XXXX program at Florida XXXX College in XXXX. At the time, my financial aid representative had given me an estimate on the cost of the program, plus my estimate grant. He had said, with it being XXXX, I can file for ANOTHER grant from FASFA in XXXX to help cover my costs of the program. The program is only 11 months long. I attended the school from XX/XX/XXXX, and I graduated with Honors in XX/XX/XXXX. At the end of my pgoram, I logged onto a portal that told me how much I would owe. When I seen the total as a little over 12k I went to a financial aid counselor and they told me it needed to be adjusted. I was contacted numerous times by the loan company Sallie Mae aka Navient. During a phone call in XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX time, I told the caller I was not responsible for the amount being owed. According to FASFA, I received two Pell Grants totaling in {$11000.00}. The program cost was {$17000.00}. Leaving me with owing a minimum of {$6000.00}. Last week, I contacted the school as I had been requesting my financial aid records. They only send me the estimate paperwork and stated I signed that knowing that would be the cost and I would owe more than 6k. I explained the financial aid counselor responsible for this case was no longer there and he told my mother and myself more than once it was just an estimate and the top of the paperwork even states its just an estimate. I proceeded to tell them that a FASFA representative told me they only took out {$1200.00} for XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX school year. The school then tells me it is because I was not attending for the whole year and that is why they didnt take the full {$5700.00} that was granted to me for the second year. The school proceeds to say it was because I didnt attend a full year. I then explained they took {$5600.00} of my first grant for only 2 months of XXXX, but only took {$1200.00} for 9 months of XXXX. The school didnt seem to understand. When I had spoken with the loan company, Sallie Mae, they stated they have no ties to the school that they just request payment since they loaned money. I am now being told due to no payments being made towards loans that I never approved to be given, that I would be sent to collections and the loan company would take my tax returns as payment.

Consumer Complaint: I started paying Navient. They said after 9 on time payments my tax refund would be released to me to file. I had set up automatic payments and they didn't take 2 in a row so I called and payed. They said it wasn't good enough and with held my refund again. Then I get letters from 3 different companies saying the now own my loans and to make arrangements for a lower fee. They tried to raise my payment by {$150.00} a month while I was filling social security XXXX. My loans continue to soar in finance charges and interest. I'm currently filing bankruptcy because I've been undergoing treatment for a type of XXXX XXXX. I'm not sure where to turn I feel as if I'll never be debt free or on track with my student loans before I XXXX XXXX. The interest on my loans has more then doubled the original loan and there is no hope. I received a letter years ago stating I owed {$0.00} on my student loans when Obama took office so I'm curious what happened.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I have been on income based payments for the last 2 years. However, the income based payments have to be renewed yearly, but I never receive a notification warning me that my payment plan is changing and I am enrolled in automatic payments. There is no email or correspondence guiding me to renew my income based plan. So 2 years in a row I have found that Navient goes from taking my income based payment, which is around {$35.00}, to my original payment, which last year was roughly {$300.00}, to this year 's, which was {$510.00}. Not only am I struggling financially to pay that amount, as I didn't even have the funds in my bank account, but I have a 5 month old child to take care of now. Last year I played telephone tag with Navient in hopes that they would reverse the payment, and never successfully got in touch with someone, so I gave up. I just attempted to contact them this morning regarding the {$510.00} and got disconnected both times without the option of leaving a voicemail message.

Consumer Complaint: I have a co-signer in my loans, my father, who has never co tributes to my loans repayments and had been unemployed for the last 2 years. Hes nearly XXXX. Im married with no children. My husband and I have a home together at a fixed rate of 4.2 % interest and a mortgage of {$2200.00} a month. Our combined income is {$160000.00} - {$170000.00} a year depending on over time my husband is eligible for. I have one other payment I make on a car for {$280.00} a month. However Navjent wont release my co-signer because of my debt to income ratio. My greatest and only debts are my loans! This is propsterous and they wont tell me what income I would need to qualify for realsing my co-signer. Whats more, I cant refinance and consolidate until hes released. Ive tried several time with other browsers and internally with navient and thats the repsonse I get. One of my loans for has an interest rate of 13.25 %! I believe they are willing my and jnkwly denying my request to prevent me from qualifying for refinancing options with no reasons for denyin. My request for advising me on the qualifications I would need to get it approved. Every time I apply they pull my credit so I cant just keep trying - tried in XXXX and XXXX with no change in response or favorable behavior.
