Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I renewed my Income-driven repayment plan before the XXXX deadline. I was approved and Navient is still showing that I owe a payment and I'm no longer on the Income-driven repayment. I have 2 emails showing that I was approved and I've spoken to a rep from Navient who said they would take care of it for me before the payment was due {$580.00}. The payment is now past due and they are saying that they are going to take care of it. I don't trust that they will handle this situation and I'm worried about the finical implications of being removed for 2 months from the payment plan.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: ***Please be advised : I am the alleged co-signer, XXXX XXXX XXXX who is writing this complaint***** XX/XX/XXXX - Received phone call and provided information to XXXX XXXX to co-sign for a loan for around {$8000.00} for step daughter, XXXX XXXX . I provided information. I may have been faxed a document to sign, although I do not have a copy. I've asked Navient for this and the 2nd document I will discuss next at least 4 times in the last 1.5 years and all I have received from them is a copy of two typed Promissory Notes ( Loan 1 : {$8200.00} and Loan 2 : {$13000.00} ). These documents allegedly contain my electronic signature, but I did NOT sign any documents electronically then or anytime for the XXXX XXXX. I lived in Washington state at the time and XXXX lived in XXXX, VA. Loan 1 Promissory Note : Appears to have the information I provided Loan 2 Promissory Note : Has wrong and old zip code listed and my name is not capitalized. I do not ever prepare documents in this manner. I have worked in a XXXX XXXX position in the XXXX XXXX XXXX since XXXX and am extremely particular about how I complete official documents. In my telephonic conversations with Navient, I have expressed to them that I did NOT co-sign or agree to co-sign for more than one loan and have stated to them that I would like to see if I ever actually co-signed for the 2nd loan. There response is always, that I will need to complete documents that declare Fraud on XXXX 's part, in order to have the loans removed from my name. If these loans were electronically signed, I am sure XXXX did sign them, but I do not want her to be prosecuted for this. These loans were predatory at best and she was 22 years of age at the time, being assured by this school that she had a 90 percent chance of getting a job in her chosen career upon graduation. Finally, now Navient has reported ME late in payment to the Credit Bureaus and I only spoke to them today, at which time, I immediately made the overdue payments. I would request assistance in having this negative information removed from my credit reports. Additionally, I would request assistance in having my name removed from loans. If they can produce my signature on the 1st loan for XXXX, then I will obviously bear the responsibility, but I did not sign nor have anything to do with the 2nd loan. Navient is coercing me to pay for something that is not my responsibility as I have continuously told them, by reporting XXXX 's lack of payment to my credit bureau. This bad reporting could affect my security clearance, which obviously is my income. Navient will not let me rightfully remove myself without accusing XXXX of fraud, when in fact the XXXX XXXX and Sallie Mae are most likely the culprits. XXXX XXXX

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: My former loan servicing group, Navient, mislead me to believe that I was doing everything I needed to correctly qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. After almost 4 years and much research of my own I found that more than half of my loans were not in the correct categories for the PSLF. At that time I consolidated my loans and moved my loans over to XXXX XXXX. All of my loans are in the correct categories now, however, a larger portion on my loans will take another 120 qualifying payments for qualify. This is disappointing. I spent hours on the phone with these crooks just to be sent down an incomplete path. I talked to XXXX XXXX and they told me there is nothing that can be done to get those loans caught up in payment numbers.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I've been repaying my student loans with Navient through an income-sensitive repayment ( ISR ) plan, with which I have to file a new form annually to certify my income level. My payment was about to go up as of XX/XX/XXXX, so in XXXX, I filed the ISR documentation. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received notice that my ISR materials were rejected because of the form of income certification I submitted ( tax return -- married filing jointly -- they needed a form that didn't include my spouse 's income ). So I resubmitted the documentation on XX/XX/XXXX ( this time, with the 2018 W9 form from the company I work for ). After submitting, the confirmation page noted that I should expect the form to be processed within 15 days. On XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted Navient because I noticed that I had still not received an updated payment plan from them. When I spoke to the customer service rep, she notified me that because I was on an Autopay plan, they could not process my ISR when it was received within 14 days of the payment due date. I asked to speak with a supervisor because 1 ) I submitted my first form in XXXX, then my second form on XX/XX/XXXX, so I knew that this was well within the time frame she suggested, and 2 ) I was never notified of this technicality re : the Autopay plan and the due date. All that was indicated to me when I submitted my ISR documentation was that it would be processed within 15 days. I was then transferred to the supervisor, Navient employee # XXXX, who reiterated that because the Autopay was scheduled for XX/XX/XXXX, the ISR could not be processed before that date. This made no sense to me. I expressed my frustration that this information was not made available to me at any point in the process, and that I was now going to be forced to pay a significantly higher payment this month ( over 3x what I normally pay ) because of these deceptive practices. She argued with me about it for some time, and even had the audacity to say that this higher payment would actually be of BENEFIT TO ME, because it would lower my principal balance. I explained that while it would indeed lower my principal, that would not benefit me if I couldn't pay my other bills. She finally agreed with me, saying, " I understand -- if you had known about this, you could've planned for it. '' Exactly. It's important for borrowers to maintain sovereignty over their own financial decisions, and not be deceived by information that is not made clearly available to us.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern I have obtain these student loans during the time when I was younger, just leaving my parents home and thought I could take over the world. As a result of poor judgement and miss leading information from my loan lender, Navient, It has lead me to filing bankruptcy three time and little to no options in a way of survival for me and my household. I'd call the student loan provider and ask them to give option on what to do if you are on a fixed monthly payment would be with the longest extended repayment program, which is up to 25yrs. Standard payment plan for student loans is 25yrs to 30 years brings the payment well over XXXX per month. That is something that I can never afford. Going to school, getting a great job and obtaining home ownership is the American dream. But for me currently it is unobtainable. I have recently read about the lawsuit that Navient was in and I too would like to be added like many others to the list to have my loans removed from my credit bureau and be free of the monster of student loans. Over XXXX of my students loans are with this company and many like it that have preyed on the weak just to get an education. I have a high debt ratios due to student loans, deferred student loans are not factored into your DTI, you do not have waiting periods after a bankruptcy. However, you will need a min. of 640 scores, you will need a higher down payment, and your DTI must be on point. Which I don't have. Many employers look at your credit in order to give you employment. And since I don't have that either it is a win win situation for me. I would like to petition to have my student loans removed, deleted and permanently take off my credit. My life would be so much manageable where I can build a better life for my family and live the American dream. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying and paying and paying for years to this XXXX loan servicer and all my balance does is increase! NAVIENT LOANS. I pay {$200.00} monthly and less then {$40.00} goes to my principal. The rest ( {$160.00} ish ) goes to interest. But unbelievably, that isnt enough interest to cover the monthly interest charge and I currently owe more then my original principal! XXXX! I have called more then once about this only to receive the run around. I have asked to send extra money monthly to just go to my principal, but they say it is not allowed and will just be part of my next payment. I need help with this! Im debating speaking with an attorney.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I am beyond disappointed and frustrated that somewhere/somehow Sallie Mae ( now Navient ) managed to move my federal direct loans to the, " private side '' of their operation. I worked with Sallie Mae in XX/XX/XXXX/XX/XX/XXXX to set up a payment plan for my XXXX and XXXX student loans ( all Federal Direct and Stafford Loans ). As a new graduate entering the job market, I was counseled to consolidate my payment and take a " level '' repayment plan. I distinctly recall that the person I spoke with on the phone telling me that the " consolidation '' was just to allow me to make one payment. I was also locked in at 6 % for the life of the loan - and was told that Sallie Mae would not sell or transfer the loan. Fast forward to the present, I have been working for a qualified non-profit organization for the past 15 years, and qualify for the Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program ; however, Navient has decided that my loans are now private. It was never made clear that any loan offered by Sallie Mae or Navient was not on behalf of the US Department of Education. I would never have " consolidated '' my loan payment had I been made aware of forfeiting the benefits that could be offered down the road from the federal government. I applied for the FSLFP about 2 years ago, and was denied because Navient is claiming the loans are ineligible. This is predatory lending. I find it appalling that while I borrowed $ XXXX - after 14 years of paying $ XXXX/month, I still owe $ XXXX. By the time I have finished payments - I will have paid $ XXXX. Navient will have made {$41000.00} plus dollars to process my monthly payments. Will there be any additional changes to the FSLFP that may help people like me?

Consumer Complaint: I have been in dept with this company for over ten years. I have deferred my options and explained my income. I am not in the position to pay them what they are asking.
