Issue: False statements or representation
Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount
Consumer Complaint: Sallie Mae/Navient has misrepresented the borrower 's ( my ) interest for years with my federal student loans. I have routinely attempted to set my auto-payment amount larger than what is actually due to attempt to pay off my student loans without paying as much interest. In the past, Sallie Mae/Navient has either disbursed the overpaid amounts to my lower interest student loans despite my requests for the overpayment to go to higher interest student loans first, or has lowered the set auto-payment amounts so that less will be paid off on my principle balance. As of today, I am trying to reset my auto-payment amount once again to a monthly payment amount that is greater than what is owed and it is no longer an option to be able to do this on their site. Furthermore, in cancelling the previous autopayment to pay a monthly amount greater than what is owed, they have removed the " benefits '' given to autopayment enrollees despite signing back up within an hour. Sallie Mae/Navient has constantly undermined my ability to be able to pay less in interest to them and are always engineering new ways to make things harder for those who wish to owe less for student loans. This is predatory behavior that is unacceptable and unbecoming of a company who is supposed to represent the United States Government due to their contract to manage federal student loans originating through the Department of Education.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I've never been able to make a single student loan payment. Their records show this. I've tried on multiple occasions to apply for income based repayment plans or loan forgiveness and have always been told I " make too much '' to qualify. However, they always extend the option of forbearance which is counter productive and adds more money to loans I already can't afford to pay.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Personal information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I used a 3rd party service ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) to get set up with Navient for my student loan repayment. Navient used all contact information from the 3rd party to process my loan. All correspondences relating to my loan, payments and personal contact information was sent to XXXX XXXX instead of me. I received no account number, payment dates, payment amounts, calls or notifications of my repayments status. It was not until a delinquency appeared on my credit report that I was made aware that they were not receiving payment from XXXX XXXX. Once the delinquency appeared on my report, I immediately contacted them and brought the account current! Updated my contact information, including phone, address, email and changed my account log in information. The issue is that the late payment and delinquency was not removed from my credit report. As Navient set up this account with fraudulent information and was never able to contact me to discuss the student loan, my credit has suffered and I am now unable to secure a home loan that I am currently seeking for a home I am scheduled to close on in 30 days

Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/19 I received a call from an individual whose son I was in a relationship with stating that XXXX XXXX from Navient contacted her stating that I put her down as a reference and he was trying to reach me. The individual was upset be the call as she is not a blood relative of mine and does not have contact with me regularly. She tried to track me down. Once she reached me she provided me the name of XXXX XXXX and stated that he gave her a call back number of XXXX. I tried contacting this number at the line just goes busy and sometimes it says the number is not in service. The individual stated that the number on her caller I.D . is XXXX. I contacted that number as well and the same thing occurred. I " XXXX '' the number and it said that it was reported as a Scam. I also believe this to be a scam as I suspect that a known company like Navient would not result to seedy collection practice such as calling random individuals and lying to them about the contents of my loan documents. To my knowledge my loan is in forbearance. This individual was very upset. XXXX XXXX lied to the individual and stated that I put her down as a reference when I in fact had not even dated her son until after law school and didn't even know her is then. She just had a XXXX XXXX and spent weeks in the hospital. She was stressed, alarmed and very upset by XXXX XXXX 's call. Lying and being deceptive in debt collection is is illegal and what about my rights to privacy. The fact that he identified himself as being from Navient, although I suspect that he was not and was just some kind of a scammer, violates my rights. This lady may not be my mother but she is someone's mother. If her pressure had dropped or spiked and she went into another XXXX XXXX just because she answered her own phone and was lied to by a scammer. What would the recourse be? She is learning to just to read, write and feed herself now. She can't even drive anymore and it should not be okay for a debt collect or " scammer '' as I believe to put her through this. She didn't want me to say anything but I think this is terrible.

Consumer Complaint: Navient place these loans on Administrative Forbearance for 1 year in XX/XX/XXXX. Which I did not request and placed more interest on the loans at their will. I have requested proof of debt from Navient from XX/XX/XXXX, which they have not produced, yet there are requesting to payment and will try in ruin my CREDIT. In addition to requesting payment they have increased what the payment was prior to the Administrative Forbearance an extra {$200.00} I requested all payments be put on hold until this issues is resolved and proof of debt is produced by Navient. As I do not have an agreement with them either. XXXX XXXX at Navient has received certified mail about this concern. Also, XXXX and Navient all come from Sally Mae. An e-mail was sent to the CFPB stating that the Department of Education requested to place my loans on hold until future investigation was complete. XXXX and Navient hold the same unsigned Master Promissory Note with populated information on there I did not place, so how is it that XXXX has placed these loan on hold and Navient has not? However, they fold the same MPN? I will attach the letter sent to Navient. Also, I have attached an screen shot of how Navient placed late payment information on my credit report and the loan were on Administrative Forbearance because they were being investigated. They had to correct this information on the credit report.

Consumer Complaint: I started making payments for my loan on XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX I applied for the REPAYE forgiveness program and they consolidated my loan with a higher APR, the amount of the consolidation doesnt make sense because if I add all my payments the one that goes to my principal the amount consolidated supposed to be less than they put. As of today the payments of last year almost all went to the interest part and is like since XX/XX/XXXX Ive never pay it. Of each payment Ive made the amount that goes to principal and interest has not been on any payment the same. There most be something wrong here.

Consumer Complaint: Navient has taken 8 payments from me this year which is 2 per month and they are only supposed to debit one from my account automatically each month. They gave me back the 2 extra payments two weeks ago and then a few days later charged me a second payment for the month of XX/XX/XXXX. When I called and complained they acted confused like they dont understand this issue with debiting my account 7 times this year and its just now the month of XX/XX/XXXX.
