Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I have been paying a student loan to Navient for some years. A couple months ago the payment amount auto drafted from my account went from XXXX to XXXX without notice. I called and was told that the loan repayment plan had expired, and the payment would soon go to XXXX. I told them I could pay the XXXX but not the XXXX and was told they payment would be XXXX. The XXXX was drawn from my account for XXXX and XXXX. In XXXX I saw in my bank account they were deducting XXXX. I called again and was told there was no agreement to change the payment and it would be XXXX now. After being on the phone for some time I was told they would put my loan on hold until XXXX and send me an income sensitive repayment form to complete. On XX/XX/XXXX I received another email to my account saying the payment would XXXX due XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I received another email saying the payment would be XXXX due XX/XX/XXXX. I submitted the income sensitive repayment form on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I receive notice that my account was past due XXXX and I needed to pay XXXX and XXXX payment of XXXX. There is no way to plan finances when Navient changes my payments without notice. I want to pay my loan back but can not manage when they change my payments over and over.

Consumer Complaint: I have been on the IBR ( Income Sensitive Repayment program ) for approx 10 years. I live in a rural area. Beginning in XXXX, I started the reestablishment of that process that I have done many times. I ran off the application on studentloans.gov, filled it out and mailed it to XXXX XXXX, PA. I also signed a document of my monthly income and included it with the mailing. Approx one month later I received an email stating that my payment options had changed and I was late on a payment. I called Navient to find out why and no one could tell me. All they could do was consolidate my loans. I did that many years ago! I forgot to state that I also gave them access to my income tax statement. I have talked to probably 6 different people and no one has explained why they are trying to put me in default. I also filled out the application online for IBR and answered their questions and it stated that I would qualify for no payment because of my lack of income, but, no one could tell me why they are not accepting any of my applications or proof of income. They keep saying I'm late on a payment and calling almost every hour!! Please help.

Consumer Complaint: Pioneer Credit Recovery , Inc started calling us over a month ago, every single day. I've told them a dozen times there is no XXXX XXXX here and I've had the phone number for over 21 years. I also told them I am a XXXX veteran. They say they are going to adjust their records but the next day the calls continue. Twice they said they're going to put a Do-Not-Call order on the account but they still continue calls the next day. Never Once have they said they're going to erase my phone number from their system. No matter what I say they refuse to stop calling me daily to ask for someone who has not been here or associated with my phone number for over 21 years and there seems to be no way to make them stop.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I rehabilitated my federal student loans with XXXX in XXXX and thereafter Navient became my student loan servicer. The first year of IBR my income was {$21000.00} in XXXX and my student loan payment was {$38.00}. I re-certified my loan this year based on my XXXX income of {$34000.00} and my new IBR is to be {$190.00}, 5 times more than the previous year. I contacted Navient and they sent me information on how the IBR is calculated, please see attached. My income only increased by 1.6 percent. The new monthly payment was far from what I expected it to be and I know that it will be difficult at best to pay this amount monthly. Is this truly the best Navient can do? I fear that this pattern of excessive increases in the years to come will prevent me from saving anything for retirement let alone pay for basic necessities such as rent, food et cetra. I question why there method of calculating my IBR monthly payment in XXXX clearly did not match their method this year.

Consumer Complaint: I have had these two loans with Sallie Mae since 2004. My aunt was the primary borrower on one. She died. They told me to have my other aunt her guardian send in the death certificate and it was subject to be cancelled or done. 3 months later, after hearing nothing, I started getting calls saying I was 120 days delinquent and they removed her like she was never on there. For two years I asked for promissory letters. They sent wrong ones. I filed a complaint with you guys a couple of years ago. No resolution. You cancelled my claim and stated you guys would be investigated them due to many complaints. Fast forward to now they are Navient. I this year requested forgiveness for these two private loans due to the school I attended not existing any longer. I was told no. I am now a single parent of a XXXX year old. I am solely responsible for without any support. I am fortunate to have a decent job, with XXXX, etc, I cant qualify for any help because I have a decent job ... .but am still trying to make ends meat. His child care alone is XXXX monthly. I cant go into forbearance. Im stuck. I need help. This isnt right. Thank you

Consumer Complaint: I have tried to call this company for the student loans, they always tell me to go to the website and I do but find no way on trying to reduce my payments as I do not work, they website takes me on a loop and it never works to reduce or help with the student loan. They are a scam and they call me about 8 times a day but they don't really want to help. When they have helped reduced a loan it was only one of them even though I consolidated them with them. They just seem like a scam.

I informed NAVIENT this was my work number please do not call me during to inquire about this debt at this number. I went online completed request for deferment in effort to stop the calls. The calls stop coming in at XXXX. Now they call 3x a day today XXXX, XXXX ; XXXX.
