Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged
Consumer Complaint: My Navient account was put in forbearance for less than two weeks which has caused my payments to increase. This resulted because Navient refunded my monthly payment due it being " sent to the wrong address. '' A Navient customer service agent offered to put my account on hold while the matter was sorted, but I wasn't told capitalized interest would increase my monthly payment. If I had been told this, I would never have agreed to it. I've attempted to solve this issue, but I've been told there's nothing that can be done.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/19 Auto pay benefits were cancelled because of one auto loan payment was reversed. I contacted the company but would not direct me to a supervisor. Giving me the run-around and putting Menon ridiculous wait times. I have suffient funds in my account. I have made loyal auto payments for the past few years and they cancel my benefits to lower my interest rate because of one incident. Navient was forced upon me and I have no choice but to agree to predatory terms and agreements.

Consumer Complaint: My father passed at the end of XX/XX/2019. I called Navient to find out what the process was to have him removed as cosigner on two student loans he was a cosigner on. They stated once I receive the death certificate and letters of administration, that I would need to upload the documents to them for them to remove him. Once I received all the documentation, I uploaded them to Navient on XX/XX/2019. I called on XX/XX/2019 to confirm the documentation was received and was being forwarded onto the department that will handle it. I called again on XX/XX/XXXX to check on the status of the account. I was told the paperwork was at the claims department but had not yet been processed. I called again on XX/XX/XXXX to check on the status of the account, again was told the paperwork had been received but had not yet been processed and the paperwork needs to be forwarded on, which one ever did. She said it would be done so and she was putting a high priority on it as I had started getting called about collection on his account though the notated the system of his death. She told me to call back on XX/XX/XXXX. Meanwhile Navient locked his account out on XX/XX/XXXX. I called XX/XX/XXXX and a Ms. XXXX said there was still no update and transferred me to a supervisor named XXXX. XXXX said I need to wait until the end of the next billing cycle that ends on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX said he would call me back on XX/XX/XXXX, I never received a phone call. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a phone call from Navient telling me to call back. I call the number back that was given and was subsequently transferred two times until they could get me to the proper department. I spoke with someone with employee ID XXXX and she told me the people I had been talking to after calling Navients phone number was a 3rd party doing business on their behalf by the name of XXXX. She told me the account has been marked as deceased, but that the collection agency would continue to call me because one of the bowers accounts hasnt been paid in a few months. I told her he was dead and that they wouldnt be getting any money from my father. I also asked what it would take for them to process and remove him from the loans and to end the phone calls to me. She wouldnt answer my questions. I told her I'm filing two complaints, this one and one with Federal Student Aid. I also told her to never call my number again. Will be speaking with my attorney as well. This constant bantering and dealing with this inept company is taking a mental and emotion toll that is unwarranted.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: This company has constantly incorrectly applied my payments to the wrong accounts. They have mis communicated their programs, interest rates, and have taken payments without authorization. Lastly, I applied a additional payment to my loans to try to pay off my loans quicker because Navient has increased Rates and have not allowed any loan options. Instead of applying those payments to my loans and principle, they incorrectly put me in a forbearance program. These issues have been ongoing both with their Federal and Private department and have added thousands of dollars in interest and many of my hours to sort this out with their incompetent departments. This errors are unacceptable and Navient seems to do as they like without any consent from me what so ever.

Consumer Complaint: Someone took out 2 student loans in my ( former ) name on XX/XX/2019 through Navient Department of Education. I reported it to all 3 credit bureaus, FTC.gov and Navient and sent in the requested documentation to Navient. XXXX informed me today that they are not resolving my disputes and it will not be removed from my credit report, as Navient states I took out the loans. I havent used the last name XXXX in 15 years, I am not in school, nor do I have any need for student loans, the address on the account is in TX and I have never lived in TX, and the phone number on the account is a SC number and I have never lived in SC. My XXXX score dropped over 20 points just since last month over this and I want it resolved.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: In XXXX, I received a bill for {$740.00} from Navient. On XX/XX/2019, I called and expressed my concerns for repaying the student loans. I shared that the monthly payment is way too high for me and I just finished taking graduate classes in XXXX. I expressed that I could only pay {$100.00} a month. Im not making enough money to pay them that much and other expenses. They denied my request for forbearance and they attempted to lower my payment. The lowered payment was around {$500.00}. I shared that I still can not afford that payment. When the bill was due, I paid {$50.00}. The customer service rep told me that wouldnt help and I expressed again that I cant afford the monthly payment. XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX I paid {$50.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, The company is threatening to report the status of my loans to the consumer reporting agencies on XX/XX/XXXX. I have been paying what I could afford and theyre still asking for the full amount of {$740.00}. Ive talked to multiple representatives and none of them are understanding about my financial situation. I even tried to refinance the loans with the company and I was denied.
