Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: 3 years ago my loans were in default, I paid this shady company XXXX XXXX XXXX who said they were an arm of XXXX, I paid them {$600.00} for " filing fees '' then they submitted a payment plan revision to Navient, I think they skewed my family size and my earnings so that my REPAYE plan was like {$21.00} a month. Well two years went by and I figured I could re certify with Navient via XXXX XXXX XXXX,, you re certify by linking you 1040 IRS form to them and telling your family size, In my case I have a family of dependents my kids ( 3 ) and I am single Head of Household with I make XXXX, I pay mortgage, insurance, car payment, utilities, food, clothes, my youngest child 's tuition {$950.00}, homeowners insurance, etc my payment was {$180.00} a month to navient NOW I re certify and and send them and suddenly I am at {$420.00} a month! I CANT AFFORD THIS. they say its discretionary income that is unfair! I called and spoke to an agent XXXX and she told me we dont take into daily living expenses, I said what about a consolidation? she said yes you can and payment would be {$360.00} but extend the terms for 25 years and at the end I would pay {$95000.00} on XXXX of loans! that is a LOAN SHARK.So then I said what if i dont pay it she said we would keep your potential federal loan return, and we would report on your 3 credit bureaus your default and it could lower your credit by 50 points! I am appalled at the scare tactics that they are using, I said how is this possible you DONT take into consideration your living expenses?? I have no choices now I work as much as possible already I live quite lean for having 3 children to support. This is UNACCEPTABLE and we are stuck the fed govt sets the rate of interest on these loans and the repayment plans are a joke. Navient is NOT the Govt or an entity they are a private party managing govt loans

Consumer Complaint: I have overpayments being directed to my lowest interest loans instead of my highest interest loans, which is contradictory to my overpayment Directions. This is causing me to not get the full benefits of my overpayment.

Consumer Complaint: I was made aware of 8 fraudulent student loan accounts on my credit report on XX/XX/2019 by a company called Navient. I called the company right away and made them aware of the fraud and they refused to listen to me or do anything about it. I asked them to send me proof that it was my debt and they would not. Instead they informed me that they turned the accounts over to a third party collection agency and that they would not discuss them with me and that I needed to call them. I immediately called this third party agency and told them that this debt was not mine and they continuously told me that it was. I began to even break out in tears and demanded how unfair this was and to take the items off of my report immediately. I asked them to send me proof that it was my debt and they said it would take 5-7 business days to get the documents to me via e-mail. After a week I called them back and this time I asked for the manager and him how concerned, upset, and unfair I felt about this debt being on my credit and them still not giving me any type of proof of it or having any urgency to do so. He assured me that he could expedite the process and that he could get me something in three days. After three days nothing came. I continued to call this company day in and day out and almost daily from XX/XX/XXXX to this current day asking them to give me proof of this debt and they still continue to give me the same line about how they are waiting to get the documents from Navient well into over two months now. There is one same lady that I have spoken with at least a dozen times in this time period that I have been calling them over and over and her name is XXXX XXXX and her number at the company is XXXX. She has nothing to say to me other than that she is waiting to get the documents and sorry to me each time I call.

Consumer Complaint: I have been making payments towards my private student loans from Navient for years. I pay everyone sometimes even twice a month, and they still make inquiries on my account saying it's delinquent and it is not. This is keeping me from buying a home for me and my kids. I have pictures of my student loan account to prove I pay what I can afford.

Consumer Complaint: I spoke to Navient representative XXXX. XXXX on XX/XX/2019 at approximately XXXX EST. The beginning of the call went well ; however, when I expressed that the options given to me were not feasible. The representative soon became very rude and abrasive. The representative soon begun to mention threats towards me and mostly my mother. He made it seem as if he was the end solution in all matters. I am appalled at the lack of professionalism that was displayed in the call, I mentioned the time and date of the call so that Navient may pull up the call and hear the recording.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: Last Wednesday XX/XX/2019 I started receiving calls on my cell phone (# XXXX) from a company named Navient (they are apparently debt collector for student loans). I blocked the number immediately after the second call received Friday XX/XX/XXXX. During this last call I told then that they have the wrong number (in fact I got this number only a few months ago) and to quit calling me. Obviously they did not. This morning XX/XX/2019, they called me for maybe the 10th time, at XXXX XXXX. After a few minutes (at XXXX XXXX) I called them back and told them to quit calling and harassing me, because: 1) It's not my debt 2) I never had student loans. By the way I am XXXX and moved to the US at the age of XXXX, took some classes in college for FREE because my ex wife was a teacher at that college, but I did not tell them this detail I was pretty upset and told them TO NEVER EVER CALL ME AGAIN, or I would file a complaint with the FTC and the Police for harassment. The person on the phone assured me that my phone was removed from their list. Guess what? They called again at XXXX XXXX Now it's about XXXX XXXX (Central time) and I guess they are going to call again. I am also ready to file lawsuit in state court asking for XXXX for EACH call after the one I have received at XXXX XXXX today, as statutory damages

Consumer Complaint: During the time I attended school,XX/XX/XXXX toXX/XX/XXXX. I received federal loans by my loan service providers, Sallie Mae and Nazient. However I believe that my loans were designed in a way to prevent me from forgiving my loans under the program, Public Service Loan Forgiveness progtam, or were not forthcoming about any information about my loans which will prevent me from participating in the PLSF program Please see URL below https://XXXX

Consumer Complaint: Over the past few years I have requested (via recorded calls and certified mailed, notarized affidavits) the original indebtness instruments (promissory notes) from Navient. I have not received them.I figured I would give it one more shot. So I requested them again yesterday, via phone call. They have drastically surpassed the allotted timeframe to provide these documents.I have tried diligently to resolve this issue but they are unable or unwilling to provide the essential records though they continue to want payment for unverified loans. This is unlawful and unfair. I demand that I receive the ORIGINAL letters of indebtness within 15 days or I will be forced to take alternative legal measures. This is causing me emotional stress due to its adverse repercussions.Thank you in advance .Signed,XXXX XXXX- XXXX

Consumer Complaint: XXXX ripped me off and mislead me. They told me that the total program cost would be $XXXX,XXXX. I was also told that the program would offer a certificate for educational leadership. The school purposely prolonged my program. There is a balance of $XXXX,XXXX currently on my report from this school. I do not owe this amount. As a single teacher, I would never borrow this type of money. I could have gone to XXXX XXXX XXXX or even XXXX and not have this balance. I am not able to get a home loan because of this fradulent debt. This scam school closed down. I want this debt to be forgiven...now!
