Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: Hello- I applied for a Parent Plus Loan in 2015 for XXXX which is a Federal Parent Plus loan. in reviewing this account to date 4 years later I have paid XXXX, XXXX to interest and only XXXX in principle. Unfortunately, I was not educated enough in how a XXXX federal loan would turn into a XXXX repayment loan. Sure they offer lower your payment, or forbearance so that Navient can XXXX you over for more interest. I am a U.S. Citizen who pays taxes but seems to be XXXX so others can reap benefits freely. In the end I get XXXX by trying to provided a better life for our children by thinking that the college education Federal lending program is here to help U.S. citizens and their families when in reality it is loan sharking and extortion business. Unfortunately, I've learned this too late in life, but trust I will start a forum to lobby so that new parents who want their children to reach the " American Dream " can be educated enough to know that the federal loan program is not a smart financial decision and college just want your money. I hope you take these comments and go back to congress and restructure this extortion program and decide to help the citizens, vets of this country, instead of funding the people who live off the system that I pay for.

Consumer Complaint: I logged in to my Navient account after receiving a new payment coupon book this week of XX/XX/2019. Within my online account I saw that Navient had applied a forbearance to my account that I did not submit an application for, and it was a " disaster '' forbearance. I have not experienced a disaster. Navient said they would provide a response within 2 business days, but they have not responded. Navient also applied my XXXX payment to " capitalized interest '' instead of the monthly payment due for XX/XX/2019. In addition, within the new coupon book my payments were lowered but there is no explanation for why. Based on past difficulties with this company I am afraid to pay the lower amount in case it is another error and then they will say my " full '' payments were late.

Consumer Complaint: Reported Dates Opened : XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX I have never had or signed any contractual agreement with Navient or authorized an agreement with Navient for any type of loan including a student loan. Furthermore they are erroneously and inaccurately reporting me as late/delinquent on my credit report with the intent of extorting me via my credit, credit worthiness and my employment viability. The aforementioned is clearly in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( F.C.R.A. )

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, my Federal student loan ( serviced by Navient ) was paid off in the amount of {$91000.00}. I received an email from Navient on XX/XX/2019 congratulating me about paying off my loan and the posting of this payment. Additionally, on XX/XX/2019, I received another email from Navient congratulating me for paying off my loan. Subsequently, my loans were reported as paid, closed/never late to the credit reporting agencies. However, on XX/XX/2019, I received an email from Navient including a monthly statement, requesting a {$240.00} payment. That same day, I called Navient to inquire about this email and was told that Navient made a mistake back in XXXX when calculating my interest payments, though they never contacted me. She told me not to worry about this email, as my loan is paid off, but she sent a request to an investigation department with Navient to address this. Additionally, on XX/XX/2019 I received another payment request email from Navient, with the same due date as the email the day before, but with a new amount of {$60.00}.

Consumer Complaint: I am a cosigner of a loan. I began making payments several years ago when the student was no longer able to make the payments. I spoke with a Navient representative and told her that I could make the payments by the XXXX day of each month. The representative agreed that the payments could be made by the XXXX day of the month and told me that the amount due monthly is {$280.00}. I have been making payments monthly without any further contact from Navient. It was about 6 months ago I began receiving calls from Navient asking for money. I was confused why I was receiving a phone call from Navient asking for money. I was told that my payments are due on the XXXX day of the month. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM NAVIENT ABOUT THE DUE DATE CHANGE. Navient has been calling my phone two and three time a day harassing me about this student loan. According to my records I am not behind in making a payment. They sent me a email and I responded to them to STOP HARASSING ME!!! Now they are saying that I am late with my account. Something needs to be done about this out of control company!!!

Consumer Complaint: I have attempted an IRP with Navient. None of the options are the right fit. They just keep placing me on a hard ship forbearance. No other options but to pay the monthly or keep forbearance but if I understand correctly there are only so many of those.

Consumer Complaint: My daughter, passed away on XX/XX/2015. After she passed away I had to take care of her affairs. Thats when I discovered she falsified my signature to obtain a loan for educational purposes. I did not authorize her to use my signature or my likeness to obtain a loan or financial purposes. I have contacted all three credit bureaus, the department of education and Navient who holds the loan and they refuse to remove it from my credit report. Its hard enough to lose a daughter but to have to deal with this as an ongoing reminder is more than one should bear.

Consumer Complaint: I had filed bankruptcy in XXXX. I was told that the student loan were forgiven and no further action was needed. Over the last several months I have been trying to deal with getting paperwork sent to me in regards to my mother 's XXXX, since Navient has decided to start harassing her for money as she is my cosigner. They repeatedly told me that the forms would be sent and never were. Finally, 5 months after trying to get paperwork initially, it was sent to my mom. She filled out all the required documents in XXXX and when we had not hear back from anyone in XXXX, my mom called. The paperwork had been sitting in a pile on someones desk, not even being processed. When I called to speak with someone, I was told " ask your landlord for free rent so you can pay us. '' Is that proper management or verbage to someone who has been trying to get help with these student loans for months!? I was also told there is no way to request forbearance or deferment. I can not pay for these loans at this time and my mother is severely XXXX and unable to make payments. This has been going on since XX/XX/XXXX!
