Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I have been trying to deal with them for ten years now, I got these loans because I was told they were just like any other student loan, but these loans you could pay on while in school so you didnt owe so much in the long run. That was entirely false. They will not combine my loans into a single loan, they will not remove my co-signers from the loan, which I was told would happen when I was out of school. They will not allow me to repay based on my income, no other companies will touch these loans. They call me an average of ten times a day sometimes leaving messages sometimes not and they call me from multiple numbers, I only find out who it is after they eventually leave a voicemail. They call relatives and places Ive been and worked asking for me and payments and that I owe money. They harass my family and me endlessly with these calls. I have tried multiple different ways to resolve my loans to make it where I can make payments and afford payments, but they deny every attempt I make. They are asking for 3/4 of my monthly income, and I have an ill wife and child to care for a car payment so I can get to my job to pay on any loans, and a house to pay, and that doesnt include all the other basic things that require money to have like food. Every step of the way this company has lied to me and deceived me I found out for awhile I was making payments and a family member was making payments yet it was never shown that multiple payments were being made. Dealing with this company has been a nightmare and I would never recommend using them for student loans.

Consumer Complaint: This is my second complaint about Navient. Navient is still violating my privacy and fair debt collection act by calling my relatives and getting into arguments with them about me. On XX/XX/2019at XXXX XXXX EST, one of the Navient members called from XXXX to one of my relatives and got in an argument with him by accusing him of being me. My relative was driving when the phone call came. My relative almost got into an accident because the guy was not hanging up the phone. I have tried multiple time to talk to them but the conversation with them always end up in arguments because they are very unprofessional and never give me an option to resolve the problem. After my first complaint on them they reported in their response they will temporarily stop the calls to my phone but I am still getting phone calls now sometimes even about other relatives who may have a student loan with them. On XXXX I got a phone call from XXXX. Asking for one of my relatives. They admit that it is student loan services and they are looking for this specific person. I have multiple voice mail saved on my phone and different relative phones in which they admit that they are student loan services and that they are looking for these specific persons. They are violating the privacy and they are violating the fair debt collection act of whoever they are looking for. They need to stop harassing me and my family members and they need to stop violating fair debt collection act by calling different people about me and by harassing them and by accusing them of being me. In my previous complain I have mentioned that I have XXXX and XXXX because of Navient harassing me and my family members. They need to stop this defamation and they need to stop accusing people of being me. And they need to stop my relative information illegally online. How do they get the information about my relatives. My relatives ' information was never given to them by me.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I refinanced my house and my credit union sent Navient a check on XX/XX/19via 2 day mail for $XXXX which would pay off my student loans #1-5. (I have another loan I just opened on XX/XX/19 - #6, but this was NOT being paid off). My bank did not ask me for address to send it to & they sent the pymt to the address on my credit bureau. I contacted Navient around XX/XX/XXXX or so and was told ck was rec'd on XX/XX/19 and they had to figure out which acct. it went to, which they figured it out on XX/XX/XXXX, and that it would take 7-10 days to post to the acct. I asked if add'l interest would be charged and was told "no", it stops as of the date ck rec'd. I have called back on numerous occasions (9 times as of today) and been consistently told IF interest was charged, it would be rolled back to date ck rec'd. To date, they STILL have not fixed my acct. to show loan #3 being paid off (they misapplied it to loan #6, which is in grace period because I'm in school), and the people I s/w today said interest was charged on all accts. up through XX/XX/19, the day the pymt's posted!!! I told them that I have been reassured by every single person I've s/w the other times I called that interest was rolled back to the day ck was rec'd -- and now I'm being told it's not. My bank would have stopped pymt on the ck when I was originally told it was received and overnighted to their physical location another check way back the first time I s/w somebody, but they assured me that interest would not be charged!!! The woman I s/w today (Supervisor, XXXX XXXX) said they can't do that because interest is charged up to the date the money goes to the Dept. of Education, which shows it was posted on XX/XX/19; that she's sorry that other people had told me different! Her being sorry does not get the $XXXX in interest back like I was told the other 8 times I called -- AND, as I stated, this could have been prevented by stopping pymt on the ck and it being reissued, but I was reassured that add'l interest would not be charged. Some of the other calls I DID s/w supervisors, who did reassure me that no interest would be charged -- yet it was charged up through XX/XX/19, even though ck was received on XX/XX/19!!!

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, the principal balance of one of my outstanding student loans was increased by {$2100.00}. The increase is itemized as a " loan sale '' but I did not request any additional funds, nor did I receive such. Navient also did not notify me of this change, and I did not approve it. Because of this, and because this is not the first time Navient has made changes without my approval and outside what is allowed by my loan contract, I believe that my loan servicer is willfully defrauding me.

Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan
Consumer Complaint: Navient calls several times per day, leaving messages about my account being past due. Checking my account status shows it is not. If I answer the calls, Navient hangs up immediately. I have sent email about this and tried to call back, but after 15+ minutes of trying to get an agent, I give up.

Consumer Complaint: When I was enrolled at XXXX XXXX, I was told the the loan would be used for only credits/time used. I was also told that I would only be responsible for the loan after 6 months of attending school ( if I did not complete my degree, OR 6 months after graduation. I was charged for multiple semesters although i did not graduate and I did not attend school for 6 months. Therefore I was over charged on my loans, which has negatively affected my credit scores and ability to get any other loans in the future. I was mislead, cohersed and lied to about these loans. I can not afford to pay them back, which is why I decided to drop the courses.

Consumer Complaint: I received a letter from the company named Pioneer Credit Recovery. They claimed that i owe XXXX. I also was contacted via mail and phone by XXXX XXXX XXXX which claims to represent XXXX XXXX XXXX : this company claims i owe a total of XXXX. These companies have been debiting my personal bank account each month due to me signing up for a student loan rehab program to get my loans out of deffault status. Induction into these programs required me to agree to unconventinal stipulations within the law that binds collection agency practices. The ammounts listed include collection fees and other fees beyond the principle ammounts owed to the orriginal guarantors of these direct stafford and ffel student loans. I confirmed this on the nslds.ed.gov website and fafsa.edu.gov and navient. One of the collection agencies also took innital steps to garnish my wages and/or innitiate a treasury offset, if needed. Both these companies actions are questionable, possibly fraudelant.

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I discovered Navient has possibly sold my loan to another servicer by checking experian. I have not received any notice this was taking place and now I don't know how to register for the IBR by XX/XX/XXXX. I did receive my quarterly interest statement this week ; however, no information about the new servicer and how to register for the IBR. This stresses me out! I'm struggling! Also, I was under the impression that a college education would put me in a better place financially. I graduated on the XXXX 's list and have never held a job pertaining to the XXXX XXXX degree. It's frustrating that I graduated in XXXX and couldn't earn enough to even generate enough income to pay on a student loan until XXXX and have to choose between eating, paying for my broken wrist, follow up treatment for XXXX, treatment for XXXX XXXX or paying for student loans. I STILL can't even afford to insure a car. I'm a single parent of XXXX adult children and with all of these issues, I don't dare marry. Housing expenses have climbed for everyone. I cohabitate with my son who struggles also.
