Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I set up forbearance with Navient and was approved through XX/XX/2022 through XX/XX/2022 and set up an interest only payment plan that I have been paying and never missed a payment. This brought my account current and put those months in good standing ( I have paperwork from Navient ). However, Navient reported the month of XXXX as missed and it dropped my credit score tremendously. I've reached out to Navient Credit Reporting department ( in which you can only respond via mail and their customer support department has no clue on the response ) and tried to handle directly with the company and they sent the letter saying they wont change. Next step was me writing this complaint. If this doesn't work I will go to small claims court and sue them for pain and suffering, taking advantage of DISADVANTAGED ( person of XXXX from low income area ) customer right after XXXX lifted the Student loan payment pause. The negative information has caused me to get higher interest rates on my credit card and drop my credit utilization with my lenders. Please note that Navient has updated the status and reported correctly with only XXXX. Navient hasn't reported correctly on XXXX and XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for borrowers defense thru the department of education. It was approved in XX/XX/2023 and refunds were sent out. Along with getting a refund for money paid towards these loans the loans are to be deleted from my credit report. I've contacted Navient directly multiple times by phone and email they refuse to delete the loans on my credit report. They in fact started emailing me demanding payment after I submitted my approval application letter. They call me every other day demanding payment as well. I tried to dispute it thru credit reporting companies and they still refuse to delete it. They've now added comments to my credit report stating the loan is accurate and it's in deferment that's now messed around with my credit.

Consumer Complaint: I have had Navient as a student loan servicer since XXXX. This month I received a letter from Navient that raises my payments from {$110.00} a month to {$360.00} a month. I can't afford this, my only income is from social security. In 23 years this has never happened. This loan now has an accelerated schedule to pay the loan off in XXXX with these huge payments. Please investigate - there's no way I can afford this, can Navient do this?

Consumer Complaint: My loans are with Navient. On XX/XX/XXXX I re-certified my XXXX application. I did not get a response until roughly XX/XX/XXXX. The response indicated that they were attempting to certify the application, but it has yet to be processed fully. At that time, I became somewhat suspicious that Navient was not handling my application properly. On XXXX XXXX I got a letter stating that my loan was being prepared to be fully designated for repayment. At that point I contacted Student Loans. gov. and my States ' Higher Education Department. I was then advised to speak with a Navient Student Loans manager directly. I did so on XX/XX/XXXX, and explained my issue and was told that they would review my complaint forthwith. In XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter indicating that my loan was about to be put in default and also reported to the credit bureaus. Shortly after I received an electronic letter from said manager with her decision in the matter. The electronic letter was encrypted, and I was not able to open it. I then contacted XXXX again to ask for this complainant to be escalated to the ombudsman. Still to this date I've not heard for ombudsman. In the meanwhile, I started getting collection calls from Navient. In XX/XX/XXXX I was contacted by Navient collection representee who informed me that my original application for XXXX was denied because I indicated that my income would change in the upcoming year XXXX. I disputed this and asked for documentation showing when/where this statement was made. The representative said she didn't have this information available, and she would investigate but in the interim I need to make my account 'current ' through temporary forbearance and then re-submission of IDR application. I asked why do I have to re-submit if you going to investigate? She stated that the investigation takes time and I need you to make the account current immediately through forbearance. Since this discussion I've become very suspicious that Navient dismissed my original application to reap more interest and steer me into un-necessary forbearances. The reason for my suspicion is validated by my discovery through SLG of my original application that made no mention of so - called " expectation of future year additional income. '' Furthermore. I've witnessed this tactic with Navient before and it now seems to be a pattern when applying for XXXX. Thank you for your consideration and please advise.

Consumer Complaint: Student Loans were in forbearance by the US government until XX/XX/2023. I applied for income based and received the run around until I filed a complaint. Then all of a sudden I got a letter saying I had a payment due that was not there before I complained. Why are my student loans forbearance?

Consumer Complaint: My school that I attended in XXXX through some of XXXX was ruled by the Federal dept to be fraudulent and I completed all the paperwork to have it discharged and I was told via email it was approved for discharge. Consumer Complaint: I was advised to consolidate my loans through Navient 25 years ago. I have religiously paid my student loan for 25 years now. I have applied for Student Loan Forgiveness on 3 different occasions because I have worked for a XXXX XXXX for the past 25 years. I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX and would qualify for loan forgiveness under the highly qualified loan forgiveness program in addition to working for a low-income school. I am disheartened because I was denied the Loan Forgiveness program because I consolidated my loans one year prior to the law being passed. Each time I inquired why my loan could not be forgiven NOT one EMPLOYEE at Navient has educated me that I could possibly qualify for loan forgiveness under the Public Loan Forgiveness Act and I had to seek loan consolidation through a federal student loan agency. My student loan would have been forgiven thousands of dollars ago.

Consumer Complaint: During XXXX, NAVIENT endlessly phone not just me, but constantly harassed my employers, causing 2 to terminate me. During the great financial crisis, following a layoff in 2009, I had finally secured a role as a XXXX XXXX XXXX with a startup in XXXX, Maryland. I was informed by my direct supervisor, also the owner, that NAVIENT would not stop calling him regarding my unpaid student loans. As a direct result, I was terminated from this position. I had to resort to selling automobiles, despite holding a degree in XXXX XXXX, but NAVIENT began incessantly calling a XXXX dealership I began working for in XXXX, Indiana. I was terminated from this awful job as a direct result of NAVIENT 's harassment. I already had complex XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX prior to this ordeal, so NAVIENT 's actions also hurt my mental health immensely. I have since become completely and XXXX XXXXXXXX by my complex XXXX, and NAVIENT ultimately charged off these unpaid private loans to which I refer. If NAVIENT ever wanted the remaining interest ( or even the principal ) repaid, its representative could have stopped harassing me and my employers. Instead, NAVIENT chose to violate laws regarding debt collection, CAUSING MY TERMINATION FROM AT LEAST 2 JOBS. In hindsight, I truly wonder how many other employers NAVIENT harassed who did not inform me... NAVIENT knows, considering their records would apparently indicate who they called regarding my private student loans. Now, I am fearful that if I attempt full-time employment again that NAVIENT will harass my next employer, too, which can not be allowed to happen!
