Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: Sure I called the company and no one could give me any payment information when I asked. I have an old non PDF statement of account that is VERY different from what the company is now showing. I can have this scanned if needed but anyone with eyes can see what I'm saying without looking at it as the report is very sketchy. In XXXX I graduated law school and I would happily return the degree if possible. It's worthless. XXXX XXXX spent years convincing me to do things that weren't smart. In XXXX it turned to threats. I said do it so they destroyed my credit. In XXXX I had a lawyer draft what I wanted ... a payment schedule that fit with what I could afford on a teacher salary. I started paying the agreement and never missed one after. However in XXXX they changed handlers. I received court notices they were going to sue. I spoke and showed every payment and they dropped the charges. Now in XXXX I wanted a statement of account. In XXXX my XXXX loan was down to XXXX in the paper. I will go through my papers if I need to and get it scanned. So I filed a complaint and Navient first provided a statement that they suddenly had all my 10 years of payment. I then filed a second complaint wondering why my loans were never changing. Now today I received a statement and it's conveniently stating all payments I have made for a decade are entirely in the interest and fees column. This is not what I was told 6 years ago. And for 10 years the balance didn't change at all. It doesn't smell honest at all if final bills don't change in a decade of payment. I'd like clarification, especially on the XXXX bill that was down to XXXX in XXXX is now being reported as XXXX back then.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX, I applied for XXXX Loan Forgiveness for my student loans through my lender, Navient by submitting an application. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from Navient stating that I was denied for not meeting the eligibility requirements for XXXX for 5 years. I called to dispute this in XXXX of XXXX and spoke with a customer service representative and a supervisor. I made them aware of my specific circumstance as stated in the conditions of the XXXX Loan Forgiveness Terms through the U.S. Department of Education. I began XXXX in a public, low-income school district in XX/XX/XXXX immediately after I graduated from a postsecondary institution. I was hired as a full time XXXX and have taught consecutively since then. I stayed at that position until XX/XX/XXXX until I was offered a position at a different school. This school met the low-income requirements as well and I have remained in that position for 5 years since that date. I currently am on the salary schedule in my district as a 6 year XXXX as well as on the XXXX Retirement System in Illinois. You can click on the link below to see those terms : https : //studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/teacher " The requirements state half an academic year counts as If you were unable to complete a full academic year of XXXX, that year may still be counted toward the required five complete and consecutive academic years if you completed at least one-half of the academic year ; and your employer considers you to have fulfilled your contract requirements for the academic year for the purposes of salary increases, tenure, and retirement '' To confirm my employment, a Navient representative requested a letter from my former supervisor stating that I was hired as a full-time XXXX in XXXX of XXXX. My former supervisor wrote a letter confirming this information and I sent the letter to Navient in XXXX of XXXX. In XXXX of XXXX, my application was denied again. I called Navient in XXXX of XXXX and spoke to a customer service representative and was told that the letter needed to contain my hire date in the format of MM/DD/YYYY and the Assistant Superintendent needed to write in his position next to his signature. My former job provided this information in the correct format and I resubmitted my application as well as the new letter XXXX of XXXX. cher loan forgiveness by claiming that I have not met the five year XXXX requirement. Today, XX/XX/XXXX, I received another denial letter from Navient claiming that I have not met the five year XXXX requirement. I have called and spoken to Navient 4 times today ( XX/XX/XXXX ) to dispute this after they have hung up and disconnected with me twice. I have talked to 3 customer service agents and a supervisor, who are all unaware of the terms of the program. After being put on hold, I was told by a final supervisor that I did not meet the requirements for years of XXXX and that if I submit my application again with my current employer at the end of this academic year, I will meet the requirements.

Consumer Complaint: I called a customer service representative about my four loans with Navient, and the representative could only give me partial information about them, but not all of the information that I needed to mangage my loans. About a week later another representative called me being very rude and was trying to bully me and disparage me by saying that I was refusing to pay my student loans. I told her that I was not refusing to pay my loans, but I handed our financial information to a financial advisor who was looking at the totality of our financial situation to come up with a plan to manage our overall debts. She kept repeating that instead of paying our bill, we hired an advisor.

Consumer Complaint: I have a federal student loan and I'm making payments of about {$700.00} per month. They're charging interest at the original rate of 9 %, which works out to about {$150.00} per month. It's my understanding that interest should not be accruing due to presidential orders. Navient has charged me a total of {$2700.00} in what I believe to be illegally obtained interest since XXXX of 2020. They are taking the position that my federal student loan doesn't qualify for the national, president-ordered interest rate pause. Please publish this. One way or the other, people should know.

Consumer Complaint: Navient is not following the XXXX and XXXX administrations ' forbearance of student loans for Covid-19. The current XXXX administration has pause payments until later this fall and Navient is still seeking payments without pausing payments. My credit has been affected from the start of the pandemic with Navient disregarding both administrations ' mandate of pausing payments and reporting negative payment history. The company would put me in these short grace periods and come back stating I need to start paying.

Consumer Complaint: My student loans have still been reporting negative information on my reports for over 10 accounts on my credit report. This has resulted in low credit score or inability to open new accounts or get better interest rates for a while now. They have accounts on there reported that are 14 years old 11 years old 10 years old 9 years old etc. They should have fell off after 7 years or 7 years plus 180 days and they have been on there wya beyond then resulting in a risky profile and low credit scoring.

Consumer Complaint: In violation of the provisions of the CARES ACT, my student loan servicer, Navient, is requiring me to start repayment of my DIRECT Loans in XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, instead of rolling my loans into the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Flexibilities, which were extended to at least XX/XX/XXXX. ( see below ) https : //studentaid.gov/announcements-events/coronavirus I spoke with navient today ( XX/XX/XXXX ) at XXXX. She stated it is most likely a coding issue, but was unsure. Was recommended to wait until I graduate next month to see if I am automatically put into COVID deferrment. I am concerned because I do not want navient to send late payments or errors to the credit reporting agencies.

Consumer Complaint: Navient lures borrowers into deferment and income based repayment then they raise the costs of the loan repayment to a level that people cant afford. They have also added numerous frivolous fees to my loan. They have harassed me, my friends, and my family for 2 years now during the pandemic. I did not originally borrow that much money but have so many fees they say I owe over XXXX dollars. I am XXXX years old and will never have these loans paid off.
