Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I graduated college in 2013. I have been dealing with these fowl people for 10 years now. Initially they told me when I couldnt pay my loans back upon first graduating, that I quote, should eat more peanut butter and jelly. But now, I am trying my hardest to pay what I can, making barely above minimum wage and still raising a child and paying day care and all my other bills. I am enrolled in the rate reduction program with Navient. They make me call every 6 months to re-enroll. Occasionally, it seems THEY mess up and schedule the new date to where I skip a month. But they are the ones creating the dates. So, the calls start. I got 7 calls JUST YESTERDAY, 5 earlier today, and several the day before that. While at work, I am unable to pick up, IN A XXXX These calls are harassment. When I do answer, I have to sit on hold and go back and forth with rude arrogant men most of the time who when they realize they are wrong, like to be VERY nice. But, they dont need to speak to anyone like that to begin with. They are not only calling me this many times, they are calling my co-signer. So in 3 days, we got almost 30 calls. And this is not the first time. I am SOOO SICK of having to stop making dinner for my daughter, the only 2 hours a day I have with her because Im working my XXXXXXXX XXXX to try and actually pay these people, to argue about my loans that I am indeed paying on. Its insane to me. Im being treated like a criminal. NAVIENT ARE THE CRIMINALS and if I could press charges for the way they treat me as a consumer I would, but I dont have the money to do that, because I am actually paying my bills.

Consumer Complaint: Navient recovery is using deceptive debt collection tactics to call. I received a weird deceptive phone call on XX/XX/XXXX. They used a third party routing company to call me at a business phone number trying to be deceptive. They need to immediately cease and desist any and all communications. Not sure what they are calling about and not sure why they call business numbers. Any alleged debt would be past the statute of limitations. The agent tried to ask me for my date of birth without identifying themselves deceptively.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: Id like to inquire about the recent Navient private student loan settlements. Our loans were originally serviced by Sallie Mae and originated between XXXX and XXXX. I have many issues with the servicing of the loans : - Various discussions with the companies regarding inability to make payment. When contacted our loans were always steered towards forbearance. Which then resulted in the increase of overall debt due to additional interest being added to each loan. - Assistance towards a more manageable payment option was not offered. - Previously applied to have the cosigner released after 12 consecutive months of payments, this was denied. - Asked to confirm that we were given the XXXX % interest rate reduction for automatic payment which couldnt be validated. Therefore, I stopped autopay. - I contacted Navient once again about payments and was offered a term rate reduction for 9 months, also with the difference added to the backend of the loan. The loans have been being paid for more than 10 years. With the additional interest from forbearance and the recent interest rate increases, the loan balances are not going down. For instance, one loan was originated for {$10000.00} in XXXX XXXX. The current balance is still showing as {$9700.00}. Only {$300.00} reduction in balance after 10 years of payments. This is absurd. Ive read the detail on the internal memo by Navient senior director regarding forbearance. Why arent all loans reviewed for the same experiences? I would like to request that our loans be reviewed and a response to our request to have these forgiven.

Consumer Complaint: Received written notice from Pioneer Credit Recovery XX/XX/2023, see attached Document. Attempted multiple times from late XX/XX/2023 to mid XX/XX/2023 to phone Pioneer Credit Recovery with out them returning any of my calls. On XX/XX/2023 I sent them a certified letter pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 16929 stating their claim is disputed by me and validation is requested. Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I attended the University XXXX XXXX XXXX from XXXX. During that time, I took out XXXX loans totaling about XXXX. At the time I did not understand the difference between subsidized and unsubsidized loans. I found out after I graduated that both of my loans were unsubsidized and totaled XXXX bucks. Sallie Mae wanted me to pay XXXX bucks per loan six months after I graduated. I informed them that I would not be able to make those payments while making XXXX bucks an hour. One of the representatives suggested that I consolidate them to get a lower payment which I did since I was fresh out of college. Fast forwarded 16 years later. I still owe Navient {$54000.00}. I downloaded my payment history did some quick XXXX math. I HAVE PAID NAVIENT {$74000.00} SINCE XXXX! {$10000.00} has went to the principal while {$63000.00} HAS WENT TO INTEREST!!! I was steered into forbearance XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX after losing my job. Navient refused to do anything else to lower my payment because my loan was private. I thought I was going to see some type of relief from this loan back in XXXX with the Navient Lawsuit. I did not receive any type of notification besides monthly statements and due date notices. Tell me why I didn't qualify? -My loan was with Sallie Mae , but then sold ( moved ) to Navient XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for profit school ( same as XXXX ) -Loan was disbursed in XXXX -I was forced to consolidate my loans in XXXX -Loan was delinquent ( behind on payments ) for well over seven monthly billing cycles prior to XX/XX/XXXX -I lived in a stated covered by the settlement Another thing to mention : Last month, Navient randomly put my account in a disaster forbearance. What disaster was I affected by? Also, my payment just increased randomly by XXXX which I did not receive any notification of in the mail. Apparently according to my portal this letter was sent out XX/XX/XXXX. Overall, my case is an example of predatory lending practices from Navient aka SallieMae.
