Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I have had issues with Navient in the past. They have been charging interest/fees ect. that I was told I would not have to pay as a part of the COVID stimulus. But, that is not my issue right now. My employer issued a check for {$5200.00} in an attempt to pay part of my student loan. That check was cashed almost immediately but not applied to my account. When I questioned it ( Case # XXXX XXXX they stated that I sent the check to the wrong address and gave me a different payment address to send it to. That address specifically states on their website that it is for inquiry only. Over a month after the initial payment was cashed, my employer received a check back and reissued the payment to the address I was given. Now it has been over a month since the re-issue and still the payment has not been applied to my account. Since I am on the accounting team at my place of employment, I could look up that the check cleared the bank on XX/XX/XXXX. It is now XX/XX/XXXX and it has not been applied properly. I now have nearly 4 months worth of late fees and interest that I should not have had to pay. I am at my wits end on what to do.

Consumer Complaint: I graduated from college in XX/XX/2001 and my repayment began 6 months later. Over the past 20 years I have pretty much been on an Income Reduced payment plan with some periods of forbearance due to returning to school. I am a Federal employee and tried to get the civil servant forgiveness program. After giving the necessary paperwork I was informed that I didnt have enough time and needed to wait until I reached my 10 year service mark. I did just that. THEN I was told after 10 years service that I didnt have the " right loan ''. After 19 years past graduation I was told I had to get a different loan to qualify for the forgiveness ... so I got the loan they stated was needed. I called back and said ok ... I got the right loan and 10 years of service!! Then they tell me that the clock started over again!!! Are you kidding me?? I then inquired about something I read about loan forgiveness after 20 years ... .they said yes, that's true, but because you refinanced the clock started over. So, you're telling me that at 19 years post graduation you instructed me to refinance INSTEAD of instructing me to continue to pay for only 1 more year? This is shady business. When I retire in 10 years will I still have the same loan hanging over my head because you keep only giving bits and pieces of information?

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I noticed I had an unexpected XXXX XXXX XXXX loan in my account in the amount of XXXX " as the school field. '' As of XX/XX/XXXX, that was still not fixed. I received verification from XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX financial aid director and admissions, " XXXX did NOT borrow money from XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX '' Those were loans XXXX through XXXX. I downloaded and, indeed and in fact, submitted the forbearance form for ADMINISTRATIVE FORBEARANCE, because my loans were not correct in my web account to view when logging in. I have image snapshots of my legal statement uploaded into the Navient system for false loans from XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX for validation. Now, I have spent since XX/XX/XXXX trying to call and tell Navient I uploaded the Forbearance form into the system, but they deny receiving a single document from me. I received an email last week saying " I am not responding '' and today I found out, UNEXPECTEDLY on XX/XX/XXXX, I am to pay on all my loans by XX/XX/XXXX. Nobody ever informed me by email of the terms of the loan changes. As of XX/XX/XXXX, they are still denying receiving my request for forbearance. On the forbearance form, I did inform them I was unemployed as a XXXX woman. I have image snapshots of the form being uploaded into the system in XX/XX/XXXX. I have image snapshots of everything I did to help manage my loans being unemployed. The emotional stress of the deceit and lies from Navient has become overbearing. I also have image snapshots from the XXXX Government site granting me XXXX until XX/XX/XXXX, however, Navient is not honoring my request. I also have emails from Navient stating, they did receive the Forbearance form in XX/XX/XXXX, but again, Navient is denying that I am responding.

Consumer Complaint: I've called on numerous occasion to get details on getting my loan discharged due to the misrepresentation/deceit/fraudulent activities from XXXX XXXX who faced massive lawsuits and {>= $1,000,000} settlement in response to their violations for committing illegal behaviors. I'm totally aware that I'm not the only person who was impacted by XXXX XXXX deceptive marketing practices, there are thousands of other students just like me whom need assistance too. XXXX XXXX violated some Federal, State or Local Laws directly against me, by lying to me, making false promises, and committed fraud. I attended there in XXXX I told them I wasn't being hired on the program I attended, I was told I needed to get under another program in order to obtain the correct job. I exhausted my Military G.I. Bill in hopes of a better of life. Even after the government discharged federal student loans and found XXXX XXXX guilty of fraud. I'm still continue making payments to Navient. I would like these loans discharged. In XX/XX/2020, CFPB reached another settlement, requiring XXXX to forgive {$330.00} XXXX in outstanding student loan balances. In total, XXXX XXXX has erased more than {$500.00} XXXX in private student loan debt.

Consumer Complaint: I contacted the DOE Ombudsman 's Office in XX/XX/XXXX to file a complaint that Navient was trying to collect on a loan that should have been sent over to the XXXX in XXXX and refuses to do so. I have spoken with several reps and management going back to XXXX and been jerked around, as to why the loan was not sent over to XXXX XXXX XXXX. After the initial contact of the Ombudsman 's Office, I was told that Navient advised the office that I do not have any federal loans with Navient, and the case was closed. Due to my insistence, the case was reopened and escalated to a manager at the Ombudsman 's Office. With a little further investigation, the manager realized that some nefarious was taking place but was able to contact management at Navient to have the case expedited. After the investigation was completed, DOE Ombudsman 's Office had discovered the same thing that I reported and that is, Navient has been lying since XXXX about the status of the loan and why they were unable to send it to XXXX. According to the DOE, the loan had lost its insurance and as such, can not be consolidated or transferred to XXXX. My issue is, Navient has listed the loan as late, in default, and to further complicate things they are asking me to make payments of {$830.00} but I am unable to pay that amount. Navient stated that the loan was disbursed in two increments that totaled {$27000.00} and now they have stated on XX/XX/XXXX, that the interest rate on your loan has been a fixed 8.5 % since disbursement. Additionally, Navient stated at the beginning the loan accrued interest at {$6.00} daily, they stated that now that the loan is at a principal of {$66000.00} with {$270.00} in the interest the daily amount had increased to {$15.00} daily. Please help resolve this issue soonest.

Consumer Complaint: Navient refuses to consolidate three loans in order to attempt to collect three separate payments totaling out around {$2000.00} a month which is not finically possible. They call my cell phone, my mom 's cell phone and her house all day long relentlessly and from random numbers all day. My federal loans were dismissed from being ripped off by a for-profit school as I was never able to obtain a job in my field making what I was promised and I did not receive any job placement services that were promised, I am stuck with these private loans which are like a jail sentence. My mother paid on these loans for many years and they have only gone up not down
