Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I established this loan in 2003 as a co-signor for my ex wife. The loan was originally for roughly around {$7900.00} funded by Sallie Mae for her to attend medical billing school it has since been assumed by Navient. In 18 years this loan has grown to over {$11000.00} because of all the deferments and forbearance by the primary borrower, so in over 18 years the loan has gotten worse with little to no assistance from the primary borrower. I have attempted on several occasions to lower or remove all of the interest and negotiate the principle but have been unsuccessful. She attended XXXX XXXX in which was a total rip off and did not help her gain employment in that field at all after completion

Consumer Complaint: I was told if I provided all information, including my degree, proof of employment, financial records, tax documents and the fact that I have paid a private loan on time for over 4 years. My co-signer would easily be removed. after receiving the run around for my private loan with navient ending in # XXXX. Not only was I declined a co signer removal after talking with staff and managers alike they laughed in my face. To the degree where a representative told me and I quote. " Well if you want out of this loan, you should just pay it off ''. I lost my job of 4 years to covid in XX/XX/2020. Not only did I never miss a payment I paid on time. To hear staff and managers be this inconsiderate and tone deaf to our society and what we are going through was extremely sad and disgusting behavior. Next issue is a private loan with Navient that was paid in full in XXXX. It is loan ending in # XXXX. I have called several times because not only has the loan been paid off, it is still reflecting on my balance due. It is bad enough that my balance is $ XXXX for an XXXX XXXX, which to be honest seems criminal considering the jobs in which I can get with an XXXX XXXX will never equal to my compensation being $ XXXX. The private loan is paid in full and still reflecting on my navient account. I called today was transferred 3 times had to give my entire personal information in full from social security number, address, DOB and phone number and then still had to verify which account I was calling on to 3 different people. This has happened so many times in the past I have lost count. Today I was kept on hold by a manager who proceeded to tell me they see it's a charge off they can't do anything about the over $ XXXX balance remaining on the account or that it is adding to an overall balance due of $ XXXX but then attempted to transfer me to the charge off department within navient that somehow magically closed. I'm beside myself. If I could waive a magic wand I would of never went to school. These issues have brought me to attempted suicide and add to my stress to where I ended up having a misscarriage. This entire system is flawed and is destroying lives. We need help and people that work at Navient need to be investigated and fired for misconduct. If I could I would bring up criminal charges against them.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX I secured a loan to finance my daughter 's education. In XXXX Sallie Mae XXXX now operating as Navient ) contacted me to refinance at a reduced interest rate with more favorable terms. The Navient caller assured me that a full accounting of past payments and charges would be submitted to me as soon as possible to reflect my new balance of {$20000.00} as of XX/XX/XXXX. To date this reconciliation has never been submitted to me I have made written requests, phone calls and pleaded for a response. I was told a letter had been sent and requested a copy of this letter. I even offered to pay for the cost of sending it by registered mail. To date - no receipt of such letter from Navient.

Consumer Complaint: My loan type is FFELP and my repayment date started in XXXX with originally with sallie mae but i file for forbearance cause i was unemployed until XXXX, from XXXX i started making payments on my loans to this date and I've never missed any payments. In XXXX i made a payment to navient to pay off the interest on my XXXX consolidation loan online after i made the payment they took a XXXX dollars from XXXX consolidation loan i brought a balance back on the interest of my loan, which at the time i thought it was normal until i call them and ask them if i is possible to payoff the interest on my loan, so i kept a track on my balance since XXXX to present day on my account of my loan balance and payment and i realize everyday {$4.00} and change goes on my account everyday which is {$120.00} + a month which has been going on my account since I've been repaying student loans, ( my balance on my loan on XX/XX/XXXX was {$23000.00} XXXX ) ( my balance on my loan on XX/XX/XXXX was {$23000.00} XXXX ) ( my balance on my loan on XX/XX/XXXX was {$23000.00} XXXX ). Every year I pay around {$3000.00} + towards my loan and starting from XXXX to XXXX my balance was over {$33000.00} and today just over {$23000.00}. They have projected my loan to be paid off XXXX/XXXX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: We have been dealing with my student loan servicer Navient since XXXX on securing an extension of my previous forbearance that was approved by Loan Holder XXXX for the year XXXX. This forbearance was do to hardships I have incurred over the past five years that has resulted in us becoming financially in trouble. I have had numerous health scares. Due to these scares and the recent pandemic have become unemployed since XXXX. My wife is our sole income generator she currently works at XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX where she XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX she has conducted this research for over 20 years at various XXXX. Not only can we not afford to pay our loans at this time but I believe Navient has been acting in bad faith for the last 9 months in helping us with our loans. I have corresponded with them many times through the mail with various forms and letters to try and resolve my loan but to no avail. I am constantly receiving calls and letters stating they have not received all the proper paperwork, that we are not eligible, that information can not be verified. I receive at least 35 calls and voicemails a week from Navient, not to mention letters weekly. It seems like they keep stringing me along at this point so they can keep compounding the interest on my loan and charging me. My loan holder just keeps referring back to Navient. Finally last week was the final straw. Even though we have communicated via mail and email THEY CALLED A DISTANT RELATIVE IN N.C. LOOKING FOR ME
