Consumer Complaint: Navient reported that I had missed multiple payments on my student loans balance based on my income. In reality, I had made every payment on time. The problem was, when I was making my payments, they were applying my payments to one loan and not the sum of my loans. In turn this resulted in saying I was missing payments which greatly affected my credit score. I was at a XXXX and this Navient mistake took my credit score to a XXXX. I have tried to reach a solution with their customer service department which resulted in no help at all. I am now stuck with horrible credit of a " missed payment '' when that isn't true at all. I'm XXXX and dealing with this and it's such a struggle.

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I have a {$160000.00} student loan with Navient and Sallie Mae since XXXX. Over several years, I have tried to lower my payments but they have always been calculated over {$500.00} a month rising to over {$800.00} a month based on my household income. ( See email dates XX/XX/XXXX. I was unemployed for several years and there was absolutely no way I could pay these amounts and was advised to either request a deferment or a forebearance rather than Navient offering or accepting a more reasonable payment amount of around {$250.00} a month. As I watched my student loans skyrocket, I decided to work for a non-profit/public service company in XXXX as a way to qualify for the Loan Forgiveness Program. Over the years, as I called every 9 months or so to ask for help but was pointed in the direction of extending my forbearance. ( 5-10 ) I was never advised about the Loan Forgiveness Program or offered a more reasonable monthly payment based on my family household income. It wasn't until XXXX when a representative advised me to file separate income taxes in order to qualify for a lower month payment bracket which by the way, has caused additional tax issues. Where I find myself now is settling on working in a low paying job although I took out my student loan to obtain an XXXX. My hope is that my student loans will be forgiven in 4-5 more years. More concerning now is that my non-profit I work for does not provide health benefits and with my husband retiring next year, we will be forced to find a healthcare program that may be extremely expensive or I must find another non-profit that offers health benefits. What I am also concerned about is that after all of this sacrificing, my non-profit/public service work may not qualify. When I began consolidating my loans in XXXX and looking at what jobs qualify for the Loan Forgiveness Program, I discovered that my employers career was not listed although I work with foster children.

Consumer Complaint: When the Coronavirus Federal Government pause on Federal Student loan collection was initiated, and when Federal Student Loan companies, like Navient were required to cease collection efforts and cease charging interest, my Federal loan servicer, Navient continued to send me a monthly reminder of my bill due under my income based repayment program. I though this was odd, since month after month during this Coronavirus pause on payments, my other lender, XXXX XXXX, did not communicate with me, no requests for payment, etc. at all. Yet Navient sent me emails a few per month that reminded me to make my payment. I made payments each month and on a phone call to them in the Fall of XXXX, I asked about why they are still seeking payments from me each month, I was told " yes, we are '' and I asked if they are still charging interest, and I was told " yes '' by the representative from Navient that I talked to. I just received another reminder this month, XX/XX/XXXX, when payments on Federal Loans are paused, to make my payment to Navient. I am including the email copy below. It seems to me that Navient is willfully disregarding this Federal Government mandate on how they should be operating. and insisting on payment and charging interest during this Coronavirus pause : Note : I am requesting that Navient reverse all interest charged during the Coronavirus period of Federal payment pause and apply all my payments during this Coronavirus period to my principal on my smallest loan and respond back in writing or email to me confirming that the payments have been applied to the principal on my {$8700.00} loan and that all interest has been reversed. Consumer Complaint: In XXXX I was temporarily employed with the Census Bureau and qualified for Income Based payments. On several occasions my income base was XXXX. I worked odd jobs and never was able to pay my students consistently. Later in XXXX, I returned for another temporary position with the Census ( 10 months ). In XXXX, I returned to work for the Census Bureau. I was told I did not qualify for the forgiveness program because I was not a permanent employee ( excepted position ). I worked consistently with the Census and moved for positions and new roles. In XXXX, i qualified for the forgiveness program and submitted an application. Recently ( XX/XX/XXXX ), I recertified my employment as an employee of DOL. A challenge is the amount of the student loans are incorrect. When I was not able to pay and got consolidations and deferments a couple of the servicers double the loans instead of calculating the one loan they counted them two times. I have been trying to explain but no one understand this has been a problem with amounts and the interest is paid on the excessive amounts which makes my loan payments unaffordable. The Servicers : XXXX XXXX, Navient and another servicers.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX I wanted a better career and saw a XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX institution ) advertisement for Diagnostic imaging. I decided to call the XXXX, PA location to obtain more information about the program. I was told to come in speak with an advisor. they would call me multiple times to get my to come in. finally I went, spoke with a recruiter about their XXXX XXXX program as It showed I could make over {$40000.00} a year. At the time I was a mother of 3 and needed change. XXXX XXXX immediately pressured me into enrolling stating they have a XXXX XXXX class starting soon. I was confused because thats not the program I wanted. they told me I had to have XXXX XXXX experience to attend the XXXX XXXX program if not I need to do the medical assistant first then I will be ale to attend the Cardiovascular sonography program, which wasn't even accredited. I was excited for my future as they induce me to enroll. XXXX made numerous false representations regarding the schools ability to place graduates in jobs, the salary I would earn in such jobs, the support it would provide me in securing post-graduate employment, and the transferability of its credits to other programs. It was all false! after graduating in XX/XX/XXXXI was stuck with a heavy XXXX XXXX, could find employement and couldn't use my credits for nothing. this program was a waste of my time and money. As of today I continue to have this burden of a loan in the amount of XXXX attached to me for a diploma that was useless by deception. Now this school has closed and has misrepresented a lot of student and we are left with debt.

Consumer Complaint: I have private student loans with Navient. These loans were taken out in XXXX with XXXX XXXX which was eventually sold to Navient. Over the years we have had issues with the way payments were being allocated, payments are taken out before the date they were supposed to which caused overdrafts as well as payments being taken out and still getting charged late fees when on autopay. I requested all documentation from Navient from the beginning of my loan so I could cross-reference these issues. Since i have 4 loans with them it has been a difficult and time-consuming process. I have found many discrepancies in the documents from their system which they personally sent me via mail and what the website shows in terms of the amount of debt owed, payment allocation, and late fees. I have collected bank statements dating back from XXXX and cross-referenced their documents on payments made ; I found at least 5 instances where payments were withdrawn from the bank but never posted to my loans! This in turn caused unnecessary late fees! I was on payment programs for over a year and still charged late fees sometimes on the same day payment was withdrawn or a few days later. I have spoken to numerous people at navient about these issues and no one could give me an answer as to why this happened. I was told that since some of these issues occurred years ago they couldn't do anything about it and checking the details would take to long. I was also told that they could not give me answers unless i had a lawyer contact them. I also asked them why their records were different from what the website showed in terms of the amount of debt owed and they said something to the effect of the system allowing for a {$10.00} give or take difference but in my research, there were occasions where the difference was far greater than {$10.00}. I also created a spreadsheet to check if i was being charged correct interest and asked how to correctly find the interest for each month, none of the people i spoke with could provide me with correct information. I read the promissory note and came up with a spreadsheet to try to get the amounts they provided, i was able to get those numbers up until a certain period before the numbers no longer matched with what they had. I have contacted the Attorney General in Pennsylvania who is currently suing Navient for these issues and for a time they were CC in my emails with Navient investigating these issues. Unfortunately, i have not been able to speak with anyone in the attorney general 's office about this. I am desperately trying to find a pro-bono lawyer who could help me with these issues because i am in no way financially capable of paying. I am hoping to file for undue hardship in bankruptcy as well for I am over {$110000.00} in debt to navient for private student loans. In XXXX I was told by one of their representatives that people with as much debt I owe don't deserve to have a life when i was begging for lowered payments. I have attached a spreadsheet showing the payments that were made which i have bank statements for and the file Navient sent me of their payment records. I have many other spreadsheets but it would be to difficult to explain here.

Consumer Complaint: In 2006 Navient advised us to do a spousal consolidation. Since then we are inelgible for any government programs like the PSLF program despite the fact that one spouse has over 10 years in Public service. And we were unable to receive covid relief. There are absolutely zero options for us due to the spousal consolidation. There needs to be a dispute process or reconsolidation process available. We are struggling, we've earned forgivness of these loans and we're told " tough luck ''. It's inequitable and unfair. On top of that Navient consistently incorrectly reports on our credit and refuses to offer any support for this spousal consolidation that they pushed us into. Young, stupid and fresh out of college, there was zero communication about the ramifications of these loans.

Consumer Complaint: I worked hard to pay off all my student loans. But I applied for a mortage in the spring and is says on my credit report I'm 90 days late. I call Navient they say, oh no there is one more. I'm on an auto draft and there is no payment due because of covid. My account is in high standing. He promised to take off the 90 days late ( Since I am not late. ) and the draft would begin again when it was due. I just applied for a debt consolidation loan yesterday, 7 months later. Navient is still report 90 days late. No address for me to send to and no one clearing it up. Can you help?
