Consumer Complaint: I was asked to cosign a student loan for my nephew over 20 years ago! He graduated, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I heard nothing until a year or so ago. Then, my credit score began getting negative ratings. I personally have never missed a payment. My previous score was over XXXX. I checked who was making the negative submissions. It was NAVIANT. I called my nephew and he told me he was having trouble making the {$90.00} minimum payment. I believe that after so many years, with NO contact from NAVIANT, and they begin to attack my credit, this is akin to blackmail! It makes me look bad to my creditors etc. with no explanation.

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying our son 's student loans with Navient since Covid-I9. The first payment was XX/XX/XXXX thru XX/XX/XXXX. I have all my bank statements that show different amounts deducted from Navient. The total of payments is the amount of {$5800.00}. On the XXXX site the amount is NOT deducted from my son 's balance. I called Navient for any information on the loans and the gentleman I spoke to said he had no information. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor and an other gentleman told me the if the account was closed he had no information for me. I had my son call Student Loans they can not help us because nothing was shown on the payments from Navient. Why haven't my Navient payments been deducted from the student loan balance? Thank you for all your help in the matter. XXXX XXXX

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I want to know what options do we have for cancellation of this debt. On the federal side they have been beyond accommodating to help with the repayment process and with the cancellation process. However, on the private side they are very little options for payment deferrals and no options for debt cancellation. I took out an initial loan of {$3500.00} and made consistent payment on the loan and right now I owe {$8700.00} and Ive been charged over $ XXXX in interest.

Consumer Complaint: I took out this student loan for {$1000.00} in XXXX. The loan was sold to navient. I paid {$600.00} dollars back in XXXX, in which I don't have the proof anymore and neither does Navient. I received several phone calls and emails about paying the bill. Navient has falsely reported on my credit report that I owe {$1700.00} when I only owe {$400.00}. This is a XXXX XXXX XXXX debt that should be removed from my report and I shouldn't have to pay.

Consumer Complaint: When I went to school at XXXX XXXX the only federal loans available were under the XXXX program. I applied for debt relief and as part of the XXXX XXXX XXXX lawsuit was granted discharge and a refund for any payments made to the department. The fact that Navient will not refund any of the payments made after a finding by the department is unethical. A class action needs to be filed!!!

Consumer Complaint: I am a cosigner on my daughter 's student loan. I was not properly notified of 1 missed payment on my daughter 's loan. Navient claims they did their due diligence to contact me however, the email address they had on file was not accurate. I never received an email. They claim they mailed letters, I never received. They claim they called but did not leave any messages. I never received a phone call that identified as being from Navient. Navient put a negative rating on my credit report which dropped me from an XXXX to a XXXX. They refused to withdraw the negative report. As a co-signer, Navient has the responsibility to notify me properly before unjustly affecting my credit rating. As co-signer, I can't settle anything if I am not properly made aware. Navient has refused to withdraw the negative mark on my credit report and stated that I can file a dispute but won't guarantee that it will be overturned.

Consumer Complaint: I have XXXX Federal student loans through Navient both under consolidation since XXXX XXXX XXXX From XX/XX/XXXX through XXXX XXXX XXXX there were only XXXX payments where the entire payment amount was applied to interest and {$0.00} to principal. In other words XXXX out of XXXX payments had some portion applied to principal. However, something that is out of place occurred between XXXX and XXXX. From XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX all payments were applied to interest Only. That's a total of XXXX payments were no principal was applied. Perhaps there was something with the pandemic. But I never asked for forbearance. In fact, I didn't have any remaining forbearance on the loan. When I called for an explanation, the representative only spoke in generalities, but can not explain why such a long period of time passed were no principal was applied.

Consumer Complaint: Navient is a predatory lender! I obtained a parent plus loan in XXXX for {$11000.00} which is now {$25000.00}. My Mother was the co-signer at the time. The loan was for cosmetology school. I filed XXXX twice and both were discharged XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX and Navient refused to acknowledge my XXXX. They threatened to go after my mother if I didn't pay. I tried numerous times to make the required payment in full as they directed for 12 months to release my co-signer, only to be denied again. Every payment I made was applied to outrageous interest only and never to my principal. I recently got approved to refinance the loan through another carrier which is now {$29000.00}. Navient owes me {$11000.00} twice over for all the payments I made under my former name. I tried many times to resolve payment issues. They would deliberately place forebearances on my account when I did not request them because I live in Florida, Even after I called them and told them not to. Then they denied me releasing my co-signer. I tried to escalate my complaints over the years, but simply gave up with this company. I XXXX Navient and I told them they were predatory. Never got resolve!
