Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I've been trying to deal with Navient since before the recent settlement. I was talking to an attorney several months ago and they encouraged me to contact Navient to get a listing of my loans from the first lender up until the current lender. This would include the history of the loans including what organizations and when the loans were sold to subsequent lenders and for how much and then finally to Navient. I also wanted to find out how much each lender along the way received from me and how much I was subsequently charged along the way. I tried contacting Navient a number of times but the person on the other end didn't know who I should talk to or how. I finally was able to reach someone on XX/XX/XXXX at the " Department of Education '' who said he could get me this list/letter and this would go out to me within 30 days. This gentleman is named " XXXX '' -- employee number XXXX. When I didn't receive this letter as promised, I tried to get back in touch and was unable to reach him, or anyone for that matter. On XX/XX/XXXX I was able to reach someone named " XXXX '' who informed me that I needed to make the request again through the " Washington Department '' which I did on XX/XX/XXXX. I finally reached a woman who didn't seem to know what I was talking about and was referred to the National Student Loan Database and was then referred to the Student Loan Support Center. There I filed a complaint that was reviewed within the 15 day window and they referred me to CFPB. In addition, recently after my Income Based Repayment Plan was due for renewal, I was quoted a monthly amount that was disproportionately higher than what I had been paying last year. From XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX I was quoted various amounts from the young people on the other end of the call, seemingly depending on who I reached. In fact, this seemed to be the case throughout the history of my loans. Depending who I would reach on the other end of the line, the amounts due could be different. " XXXX '' ( mentioned above ) was able to readjust my amount after my wife and I sent in proof of income documents. Throughout the course of my loan repayments, I was also regularly and cursorily offered loan forbearences with a short one sentence, rote request for my confirmation. Apparently I didn't understand the actual terms of these forbearences and was basically trying to survive financially. I currently owe over {$270000.00} in student loan debt, despite paying since the 2000 's. Without the information I requested, I have no idea if this is a legitimate amount or not, especially given Navient 's history.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan

Consumer Complaint: This company ( NAVIENT ) calls everyday, multiple times a day from MANY different numbers. They have contacted third-party persons that have no affiliation with the financials of the loan. I have asked that they do not contact anyone that was not financially responsible for the loan. They have up-to-date contact information and do not need to contact anyone else. They have failed to stop contacting the third party persons, after I stated they were told not to contact anyone. They also contact third-party persons looking for looking other third-party persons. I have told them on numerous occasions my inability to pay and that the options they provide are not something I can peruse. They constantly talk over me when I am trying to explain when it does not align with their goals for the conversation. Very condescending and not helpful at all.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged

Consumer Complaint: Dear Navient formally Sallie Mae, After my Dad finished settlement with you over my Law School loans that were originally in my name, but after I tried on numerous occasions to get a copy of my loan agreement from you, You decided to fraudulently start sending him bills for my law school loan, thus ending up in settlement, which you lost, and during that period of settlement, You we're allowed to obtain control of my XXXX loan that was currently being managed by the Department of Education. You then amped up my interest, royally XXXX my credit, and refused any settlement offer. Having no choice, and knowing that I was being punished by You, because my deposition in the case my Father brought against you was key to bringing you to your knees in humility, I scraped and borrowed and used everything I had to pay you {$35000.00}, for an original loan balance of {$12000.00}. I knew after having dealt with you before, that I was just a spec on your XXXX. Thus, also knowing that every day you were in control of my student loan debt, that dollars upon dollars would continue to mount in interest and I would just be further under your control. Thus, I paid You off!! In full. And even complained to the department of education about all the extra interest, but to no avail. But even after that, my dept I had to you is still being reported as current to other lenders trying to offer my student consolidation loans. Even the three credit agencies have still been reporting my debt to you for 5 years after I paid it off. And the icing on your cake was never delivering to me my 1045 - 1049 IRS form so I would recoup what amount of interest I had paid to you.. So after all of these unscrupulous wrongs to me, I am now coming for you. Your wicked ways have escaped justice for too long. I am strong, and I'm back to cut off the head of the evil money grubbing monster. You have somehow managed to escape regulation and oversight from the United States Federal Government. You will suffer me.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged

Consumer Complaint: I have gotten two students loans in the past from two school, one I graduated for the amount of {$20000.00} from XXXX. My school closed after one year. I was making payments to Navient. I got another student loans went to XXXX school from XXXX to XXXX, but I did not finished for the amount of {$16000.00}. I started paying that as well each month. Navient later offered income driven payment as my monthly payment was very high and I could not pay. I was making payments, Total amount in the system at Navient shown I owe total of {$33000.00}. I kept making payments under income driven payment. Pandemic showed up, I was in forbearance, I still decided to pay at least {$50.00} since then. Here we go recently Navient changed to XXXX XXXX, I made copies of all my loans before they transfer. I had one student loan from XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX college back on XXXX for the amount of {$2000.00} and that was paid fully before Navient change to XXXX XXXX I am now looking at Navient website and they telling me I owe them {$1400.00} something $ $ $ and the rest of my loans has been transferred to XXXX XXXX for the total of {$29000.00} something ... Before Navient change to XXXX XXXX I was told I am eligible for student forgiveness since my school closed after I graduated. I did applied for Borrower defense and sent forms to them regarding that. I can not reach out to them and nobody answer the phone, nor chat lines to see what is my status on that! I contacted Navient regarding the {$1400.00} something $ $ $ and they are telling me is a commercial loans! I never took any other loans except federal loans and I thought all my loans was what transferred to XXXX XXXX. I have balance now in Navient for {$1400.00} $ $ $ which I do not know what that is, however I made payments before transfer and I also have balance in XXXX XXXX!! Navient did not transfer this amount and telling me it's commercial loans whatever .... I do not understand what it is! They are charging me for something extra and there is no evidence of anything.. I believe they are taking advantage and now XXXX XXXX is trying to take ADVANTAGE for sure on top. So this is really confusing and nobody can explain to me why all these loans keep transferring and all these money I paid all this times, my balance never went down, except going up!!!! I need an answer. I am NOT going make any payments to NONE of these companies no more until this resolved! This is fraud and nobody has a good explanation. I am sure I am eligible for my loans to be cancels and it better because I am not sure what are these extra charges!! I am NOT going to pay two loan companies and apply for income base for nothing as I did paid enough to them and they owe me money now. Please investigate and look into this as I am sure many getting ripped off by these companies. This is fraud. Please Advise! Thanks! XXXX

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I've had Navient as my student loan servicer for many years. A couple weeks ago I transferred my large student loans to a new servicer ( XXXX XXXX ). The payoff to Navient was complete on XX/XX/2022 as is reflected on my Navient account page. Navient received the full amount ( in fact a slight overpayment ). Just for good measure -- to be extra safe -- I turned off auto-pay and deleted my bank account information from my Navient account. Did that 2 days ago. Maybe XXXX. This morning ( XX/XX/2022 ) I see Navient has withdrawn the usual amount ( XXXX ) from my bank account. WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. And without my owing a penny. This is theft. Any other descriptions are doublespeak. They stole the money today. I want it back today. Whatever help you can give me will be appreciated. THANK YOU.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Information belongs to someone else

Consumer Complaint: Hello I have recently noticed fraudulent activity on my credit reports. What I have found has lead me to believe I may be victim of identity theft, as I did not approve any information to be used in my name. I am requesting that these fraudulent items be deleted from my credit report at your earliest convenience. I actually have a security freeze on my accounts which should have alerted me prior to my credit being ran. I did not receive any notifications or alerts to my credit being ran for these accounts which is concerning. These fraudulent items are reporting inaccuracies which is directly impacting my relationships with creditors as I am going through the home buying process. I have reported the theft of my identity to the Federal Trade Commission 's Identity Theft Affidavit in regard to this incident. In addition, I have attached a XXXX document reflecting all items that were found to be unauthorized by any such.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Despite the student loan moratorium AND having asked for a forebearance to stop the harassing calls, I was still making payments as I was able. In spite of all that, in XXXX my servicing agent Navient reported my loans as 90 days late. Ive asked them to remove it, they refuse. How can they report a loan as ( not 30, not 60, but 90 days ) late during a loan moratorium. Its destroying my credit and preventing me from being able to secure a new lease on my apartment.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: We were told by Sallie Mae ( now Navient ) to consolidate into spousal loan since if both borrowers qualify it would be fine to get PSLF in 10 years with a 30 year payment plan. After starting with {$120000.00} balance, we paid over {$150000.00} in the last 10 years and now owe {$180000.00}. Now with the temporary expansion of PSLF allowing FFEL payments to count, we tried to consolidate to direct. Despite being told my a student loan advocate and attorney that it is not illegal to go from joint loan to individual since the new single borrower agrees to be responsible for the debt ( like any joint loan refinanced into a single loan ), Navient blocked the consolidation into direct. The total spousal loan shows on Fed servicing as being all mine already, but Navient refuses to budge. We wouldve been better off with a regular 10 year amortization as there is no way possible to ever pay this off. Now we are blocked from relief under the expanded PSLF program.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: My complaint is more than about repayment options. my student loans have TRIPLED in the time that I've had them. There were many times where I tried to do income based repayment and the payments were too high I attended the University of XXXX in Michigan and was encouraged to even go back for my MBA. this school had me in an " e-business '' curriculum. When navient reported my loans late it tanked my credit score and I almost lost my job ( I'm a XXXX XXXX XXXX ) and my credit score is important. I won't be able to purchase another home with student loan debt near $ 300k!!! They pushed me to forbearances and consolidations ... this whole experience with navient and these loans and school have damaged my life!
