Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Need information about your loan balance or loan terms
Consumer Complaint: I graduated with my XXXX in XXXX and XXXX in XXXX XXXX in XXXX. I have always been placed in deferment or Income based repayment with a zero payment due to my income earned from my work in the non profit sector. Most recently, with my {$18.00} state of Arizona government job Navient has calculated my IBR to be about {$67.00} a mo which I cant really afford being that Im even on rental assistance. I made my first payment XX/XX/XXXX because they said I did not qualify for the federal deferment with a FFEL type. However, they have now re-started my 25 year repayment time clock when I have been on IBR since graduation in XXXX and XXXX perspectively. I emailed Navient about a month ago via my online account and have received no response. My credit report was also updated once I made a payment stating 320 monthly payments left dropping my score about 30 points. I dont see an end in sight.

Consumer Complaint: I want to submit a complain with regards to Navient and how the Department of Education is handling the new XXXX waiver. In my time of repayment, in XXXX to be exact I had issues with an affordable plan due to a nasty custody battle. When I called to request a lower payment on my federal and private loans held by navient. I was basically given the only option of default. I was basically told, it was better to default on a federal loan rather than my private loans. I have not missed a payment on my private loans, not even late. My federal, defaulted and my XXXX taxes XXXX was garnished. I was able to rehab my loans in XXXX and have it in good standing. Now with the XXXX waiver, we come to found out those default payments, and garnishment are not being counted. Those are payments, to my loan that is now in good standing. How is that fair? If new loans combine with old loans are being forgiven. If repayment status rather than actual payments are being counted? my default payments were real all XXXX, XXXX dollars. Please help us to have this address, the waiver needs to be updated and to include all types of payments!!

Consumer Complaint: I have a XXXX loan, originated in XXXX in the states of California and New York, that Navient apparently took possession of at some point. Navient says it's a private loan that they own. I have called numerous time ( XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX ) and emailed ( XX/XX/XXXX ) requesting a chain of title and/or a promissory note proving that Navient does in fact own my loan. They have been unable to produce such legal documents. I have reason to believe that my loan should be fully discharged on the grounds that Navient does not own my loans.

Consumer Complaint: I suddenly stopped receiving statements from navient. At the time that I had stopped receiving them is also to time that I had seen articles of them being involved in a lawsuit. So thinking it had to do with that, I waited. Now they suddenly start sending statements again and have fees attached. Its 2 months behind. Something that would have never happened nor had ever happened before.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I was put in to forbearance a few times over the years without anyone explaining that interest is still applied ot the account. While they were happy to help me short term, no one thought to tell me what would happen later. Ive had wages garnished, and through all that, the amounts owed really never went down. I'm stuck in a loop here. I havent made any payments in a while, and loan payments are supposed to be frozen but my credit report goes up and down and these loans are listed as part of the issue. I can not afford to pay these loans. What do I do??

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: My student loans have become astronomical in the amount owed. My student loans are literally out of control. They have grown so large through fees and interest, I believe, that they are unmanageable. When opening our recent mortgage a lender commented that there was something wrong with the accrued balances on my loans, how they went from 125,000 to around 175,000 in a short time. I have been able to get the income driven payment option in the past but before the current Biden plan Navient was no longer allowing affordable payments even in the IDR. These loans have literally ruined my credit score. I am no longer able to apply for even a minimal credit card. My husband has to have all our loan needs in his name only. What would I do if I was not married? I would be totally screwed/stuck/without options. I pay ALL my bills on time and my credit is destroyed! How can this be? How is it that I owe this much money when my actual tuition/fees were far less than this balance? How is it legal to charge so much interest and fees that the student loan is like a car loan or house loan??? What is the difference for education or not when after getting a degree you can not get ahead because it ruins your credit! I asked Navient for an explanation of why my loans are so much larger now and they said they would get back to me and never did. There is no explanation from either servicer ever and no way to escape this destruction as student loans are untouchable by an legal means! A banker offered to look into it for me as even he was befuddled over the amount owed. It's insanity. I'll never escape it unless someone helps me with this.
