Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I was contacted by National Credit Systems for an amount owed to a apartment complex I recently moved out of the apartment complex under the motion I would be responsible for the months the apartment was vacant. I disputed the charges asking to company to Verify the alleged debt owed of {$6900.00}. All I received back from them was an itemized list of charges with accelerated rent they say I owe and the first and last past of my lease. After reviewing My copy of the lease agreement there on page 2 there is section stating I will only be liable for the dates the apartment was vacant. I am under the notion the apartment was not vacant for the remaining months on the lease as a new tenant was placed in the alleged vacant apartment. I again disputed this account with National Credits Systems and the 3 major credit reporting agencies XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. XXXX was not able to verify the account and has since deleted it from credit report as of XX/XX/XXXX, while the other reporting agencies came back verified. National Credit systems again sent me an itemized list of the charges along with the first and last page of my lease, leaving out the verbiage written in the agreement for charges owed upon early move out of the apartment. On page 2 section 10 of the leasing agreement it states ... You will be responsible for monthly installments of rent through the end of the lease term or until a replacement is found, whichever occurs first. XXXX XXXX was a tennent in the vacant apartment this occurred first. Further the accelerated rent charges National Credit System claims I owe is not a provision within the lease agreement.

Consumer Complaint: Called and wouldnt give the name of the company I owed as I knew it and wrote checks to, repeatedly. Refused to provide proof, other than phone calls, that they were authorized to collect the debt despite my asking for this over and over. Refused to talk with me after bankers hoursalways when I am working. Asked them to send correspondence to my work address, they refused. Refused to allow communication with them by email or faxthis is 2019 folks. Even the debt they are trying to collect was executed electronically. Refused to stop cutting me off in mid-sentence. Attempted to intimidate me by ignoring things I said when I talked and cut me off. Refused a call back from a supervisor. Their accounting of the amount owed is wrong even though I have bank records that show that Im right. Refuse to look at that accounting. A company based in XXXX GA keeps displaying a XXXX, IL area number because my cell phone has a XXXX number, leading them to give me incorrect times as tomwhen they weee open. Made light of my job in television as a news reporter who has done story after story about scammers.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX NCS contacted a family member to discuss a debt supposedly owed by me. I have not been contacted directly by NCS to discuss the details of this supposed debt. The collector took an opportunity to share the nature of the debt, lease terms and dates, amount due and even asked for a payment from my family member. The family member they contacted was listed on the lease - AS A RESIDENT ONLY - and the information that was shared with him was then shared with the rest of my family who are now all aware of the situation and have much more detail than I. I tried to call NCS on XX/XX/19to discuss, but was only able to leave a voicemail in a Manager 's mailbox. That call has not yet been returned. I sent an email to the company on XX/XX/XXXX to advise that I believe they are in violation of FDCPA. They replied back on XX/XX/XXXX that they are researching the issue. I don't believe much time is needed for review, since they should have a copy of the lease before they started dialing. I'm not even sure how they got my family member 's telephone number because he does not have the same number as when we lived at the property for which NCS is trying to collect.

Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX my wife and I paid off our debt to National Credit Systems - Representative XXXX XXXX on behalf of XXXX XXXX XXXX in the amount of {$630.00} as we were told this was the lowest amount we could pay to close the debt out on our credit ( {$780.00} was the full amount of the debt ). The letter saying the debt was closed is attached dated XX/XX/XXXX as we were told would be. My wife and I were currently in the process of disputing this debt because we should not have had to pay it anyway as the lease agreement between XXXX XXXX XXXX and us was cancelled because of an unsafe living environment they provided my family and I because of a maintenance request that was NEVER completed. After calling ( I believe around XX/XX/XXXX - they have a recording - my phone log does not go back that far ) to find out what happened to the files and letter I sent into National Credit Systems, my files and letter had somehow gotten lost in the mail or misplaced by National Credit systems as they said they never received them. I was at the end of a current lease ( ending on XX/XX/XXXX ) and HAD to move me and my family to another apartment complex and in order to get approved the debt HAD to be paid. As mentioned above we paid the debt off on XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$630.00} ( as agreed to by my wife, myself, and National Credit Systems - Representative XXXX XXXX ). We received a letter in the mail a few days later dated XX/XX/XXXX ( the day we paid it off ) that we could have paid the debt off for XXXX % off. My wife immediately called National Credit Systems and talked with XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX ( as this is who the letter was signed by ) to request a refund as we asked her what the least amount that we could pay to pay this debt off was on XX/XX/XXXX and it should have been XXXX % off ( the letter we received that was dated the same day we paid it off XX/XX/XXXX ) and not {$630.00}. She did tell my wife that she had no control over sending those letters out but her name was on the letter and who it was signed by. She requested we speak to XXXX XXXX ( her manager ) who my wife and I left messages for but never received a call back from, but did receive an email with a letter in it from XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX saying we still had a balance of {$150.00} ( which does not make any sense but is attached ). The next day my wife called back and talk to XXXX XXXX again and she told my wife she had taken care of it and that we would receive the refund within XXXX buisness hours. We DID receive the refund within that time frame. Now on XX/XX/XXXX my wife received a callback from XXXX XXXX and she said that, because of HUMAN ERROR, they sent us to much in the refund and that we owed {$50.00} in order to close the account out. My wife told her that we should not be required to pay the {$50.00} back to them because of THEIR error. I called XXXX XXXX back after my wife told me about this around XXXX AM on XX/XX/2019 and the conversation went as so ( I am paraphrasing in some areas but these are recorded on their end - there was frustration in my voice ) : XXXX XXXX : Asked for my account number XXXX XXXX : Gave her my social XXXX XXXX : Says " Hi XXXX XXXX, I assume you have talked to your wife? '' XXXX XXXX : " Yes I have and I am not paying the {$50.00} back because of human error. '' XXXX XXXX : " That's fine XXXX XXXX you don't have to pay it back and the account will continue to stay opened. '' XXXX XXXX : " Ok well I need to speak to a manager. '' XXXX XXXX : " Ok XXXX XXXX, I will be happy to get you over to XXXX XXXX XXXX .. '' XXXX XXXX : ( interrupted ) " I need to talk to him now and don't need to leave a voicemail. '' ( as stated above he never returns phone calls and I had already tried dialing his extension twice and got voicemail ) XXXX XXXX : ( interrupted as I was trying to explain the above ) " Ok XXXX XXXX, well you have a good day. '' ( hung up the phone on me ) This has already been closed on my wife and I credit but now because of their human error we are going to have this back on our debt. We do not feel because of their human error that we need to pay this {$50.00} back and we were already NOT going to pay the debt back and were in the process of disputing but we HAD too in order to get into our new apartment. We do not feel that National Credit Systems will work this out with us and confess to their mistake and take the hit so this is our only option to report them. I understand completely that this company deals with people everyday making excuses not to pay their debts back, but there is still no excuse for the POOR customer service and the rudeness my wife and I have received from National Credit Systems - specifically Representative XXXX XXXX at extension XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: Ive sent several notices to this company regarding the inaccuracy of this account. I do not owe this debt and Ive disputed it with the credit bureaus as well as this company. They sent a statement with a different balance than what is reporting on my credit report which confuses me even more. Ive also noticed that on my report it showed a payment made way after the account was placed on my report, that is false! I do not owe this company this debt and would like to stop being contacted regarding this account.

Consumer Complaint: A document was sent to me dated XX/XX/2018 stating that I owe a collection to the apartments XXXX XXXX XXXX. This letter is not accurate for one the date is incorrect and when I moved out in XX/XX/2018 i owed a {$0.00} balance. I received my security deposit back a few months after I moved out. When i received this letter, I called the said apartments and they told me that they did not send any amount to this " National Credit Systems, Inc ''. I have called the collections agency multiple times explaining the situation and provide documented proof with the date of XX/XX/2018. Of course they don't believe it coming it from me ( the consumer/victim ) even though I have provided proof this is not right. I have tried contacting their higher supervisors and managers and have not received any phone calls back.
