Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: M & T Bank reported 30+ days late for my XX/XX/2021 RV Payment. I mailed the payment in XXXX and they did not credit the payment until XXXX. I have a copy of the check. The post mark on the envelope should evidence when I mailed it. I filed a dispute with XXXX. Rather than correct the problem, M & T bank also marked XX/XX/2021 as 30+ late. In reality I am paid through XXXX at this point due to receiving a paying multiple late notices from M & T bank that were inaccurate. I filled a new dispute and the XX/XX/2021 late payment has been removed but M & T bank is refusing to remove the late XXXX payment which is also inaccurate as I mailed it in XXXX. Please help!

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Fees charged for closing account
Consumer Complaint: I opened an M & T Bank account to get a bonus, which required me to transfer {$10000.00} into my account. When I attempted to do this, I learned that their bank to bank transfer option was under maintenance and there was no estimated date for when it would work again. Then I attempted to transfer funds via XXXX, but that system caps the maximum amounts far below what I needed. When I brought this to the attention of M & T 's customer service, I got the same response twice : If your account has been open less than 180 days, we will assess a {$50.00} account closing fee. M & T Bank is refusing to waive the {$50.00} fee even though their bank and transfer systems do not allow me to transfer money into my account.

Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern : Please find our detailed account of a Bank theft incident below to our business bank account. On Thursday, XX/XX/XXXX at XXXXXXXX XXXX, I logged into our business MTBank account to find four web payments pending from our account : XXXX : {$9900.00} XXXXXXXX XXXX : {$9900.00} XXXX XXXX : {$9900.00} XXXX XXXX {$3000.00} None of these payments were initiated by my company. I also had approximately 140 spam emails in her inbox. At XXXX, I called M & T Bank to report the robbery but was informed that online banking support does not open until XXXX. At XXXX, my. partner called the M & T Bank web banking service to report these as fraudulent charges and we immediately changed our passwords for email and banking and ran malware scans on our computers. We were informed by the MTBank investigators that the transactions were made on my login at XXXX the previous evening, XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, the funds were shown as no longer pending, and had transferred out of our account, leaving us with approximately {$10000.00} in all our accounts. In response to the M & T Banks financial crimes divisions advice, we also filed a local police report, FBI IC3 report, and XXXX report of the robbery. We have also worked with our M & T Bank banker to set up two new accounts. M & T Banks financial crimes division informed us that recovery of the funds is independent of whether M & T Bank determines they will credit our account. As of today, M & T Bank has still not given us a timeline of when or if the funds will be restored to our account. It is unclear to us why M & T Bank insurance policy has not kicked into action. We as a firm, are vigilant about our cyber security and are the victims of this massive theft to our small business, making it impossible for us to make payroll and threatening our ability to continue operating. This is a summary of all the facts, coordination and reporting on this issue to-date.

Consumer Complaint: We purchased our mortgage with XXXX XXXX Within the first month the mortgage was sold to XXXX XXXX. The servicing contractor is M & T. They reached out to us and advised us that the homeowners insurance is XXXX and the principle balance is XXXX and we needed to get replacement value coverage. I reached out to my agent for the insurance and they advised the dwelling structure coverage is for replacement cost of XXXX. The land is not insurable. I spoke to XXXX XXXX at M & T ; they are demanding we get gap insurance for the difference between the principle balance and the dwelling cost. My insurance agent is not able to increase the value of the replacement cost without proof of significant improvements since purchasing in XXXX. We have not improved the property. M & T are advising they will purchase an additional insurance at our cost if we do not increase the amount. I have been advised by my insurance agent and XXXX that this is a common issue with M & T and that the Florida Law is not being followed : Florida Statute Section 690-167.009. No Mortgage lender shall, in connection with any application for a mortgage loan in this state which is secured by a mortgage on residential real estate located in this state, require any prospective mortgagor to obtain by purchase or otherwise a property insurance in excess of the replacement value of the covered premises as a condition for granting such a mortgage.

Consumer Complaint: I just resolved a complaint with M & T in XXXX XXXX. As we were resolving that complaint, a XXXX transaction that didnt belong to me came into the account. I alerted them immediately that the transaction was invalid and didnt belong to me. I told them to return it immediately because the money did not belong to me. M & T refused to return the money. I have been in touch with the individual that sent the money in error. We have conducted business in the past but he sent the money in error. I explained this to the bank and they refused to return the money. The individual is now considering pressing charges because the {$400.00} has not been returned. I am asking the CFPB to investigate this matter. The bank was trying to clear up the left over negativity balance in my account. They refused to return the money even after my continued requests and then demands to return the money. I will share this complaint number and all correspondence with the individual.
