Consumer Complaint: In XXXX we received a letter to refresh our account from M & T Bank. On XX/XX/XXXX my husband and I went to the bank sat down with the bank manager. She took both our licenses did a lot of typing on her end handed back the letter and our licenses and say we were good. On XX/XX/XXXX the bank closed my savings and checking. I immediately called the bank which the girl accused my husband of closing the account and taking the money. I told her she was incorrect. She told me to go to the bank. My husband and I met at M & T Bank XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. They could not help us because as they were trying they lost power. Later in the afternoon they called to tell me the bank closed our account. I said this was unacceptable at which time I was told I had to call the consumer line to discuss with them because the branch could not do anything. I called Spoke to a supervisor who said give her 24 hours. I called again this morning. XXXX the supervisor said she told me 24 hours and she would call me back and 6 different departments were trying to recreate the account. I was also told they saw in XXXX that I refreshed the acct but my husband did not. 24 hours passed no call. I called they said the account is closed checks is in the mail takes 10 days and nothing about recreating account. They bank was 100 % at fault if the look back on security cameras for XXXX they will see me and my husband together. They are a bank give me my money back immediately in a cashiers check or new account. I have no bank account, no money and already get notifications about payments that did not go thru to pay bills. The bank just points to each other and not helpful or taking responsibility. This is criminal that a bank can do this to anyone.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, my primary checking account was frozen because of suspected fraud. I tried reaching out the the company, who has an advertised and listed XXXX fraud department. I spent over XXXX hours waiting for someone to answer the call in the fraud department. I then called the account services department and asked to speak to a supervisor, and was then told that the fraud department does not have a supervisor. Due to this companies inability to manage a fraud department I am now stranded away from home.

Consumer Complaint: The transition from Peoples to M & T Bank nightmare. Should never have been approved by the Fed. Contrary to what they M & T told me/us as my Peoples debit card would work until the XXXX of XXXX, it was declined around 2 weeks prior shopping for food, gas etc... I called the # from emails they sent if you hadn't received your debit card and my phone died after a few hours. Tried a few days in a row until i called a # they had on their inaccessible website ( at 1st ) and complained to a women from the loans dept I think who had one sent to me days later. It didn't work until a few days. With Peoples Bank I had bank to bank transfers set up and they it should have stayed the same during the transition but wasn't. I have attempted to set it up again at least twice where my other bank would send 2 ( under {$1.00} amounts deposited to my M & T account. I was maticlus on the routing # s and acc #. Nothing shows in M & T. The other bank have sent me 2 emails claiming success in sending the now 4 different amounts. I went to the XXXX branch on XXXX XXXX and they just said they dont see any deposits. I tried in XXXX and XXXX. The IRS sent me an Email saying they will be mailing my tax refund due to no acceptance at the bank I had chosen. Pretty it was Peoples since the other bank is where I have my SS checks sent to.There is a web page on XXXX called " M & T Bank XXXX a place for victims '' with more sad stories. I suggested viewing it to the the senators Email I responded to. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( 12 days ago ) XX/XX/XXXX Dear Information for an account at another financial institution was recently entered into our home banking system. Trial deposits of less than {$1.00} into this account have succeeded. Please check your statement to find the amount of these deposits, then log into our home banking system and click the verify link next to the newly added external account. There is another same email from my other bank also from earlier last month. My account had an amount in RED text, I tried paying. It has a minus sign in front of it and I still have no clue as to why, after calling and speaking with a supervisor last week. I t wouldn't let me pay and deducted from my overdraft line yet I was told it was not being deducted. Sigh.

My questions is why is M & T Bank not posting these funds to my account, why are they holding these funds and when will they be available? I was given a bank reference number of XXXX Also, if they are holding these funds from XXXX then, I would like to know if M & T Bank is holding my check I am anticipating a from the Internal Revenue Service in the amount of {$2800.00}. I would like to know if, you have received these funds and when do you plan to make these funds available? i sent M & T Bank and email and I called on XX/XX/2022 at XXXX and my call was dropped. i called back on XX/XX/2022 at XXXX and the representative stated that she does not see a refund to my account.

Consumer Complaint: My m & t bank account has been blocked XX/XX/2022. I called to see why that day and was told because of a check deposit. I was told i could not access my account until those 5 days were up. I went into the bank that Saturday with my account number and state drivers license and was told by the teller they could not give me any information on my account because it was still locked. I called customer service to see why the lock was still on and was told the check came back unpaid I should be able to go inside the branch to speak to the manager and he can email the department handling my case so u can access my available funds. I did that but never received a call back. Today XXXXXXXX XXXX I tried to log on my online banking and its still blocked.i called the fraud department and asked her when the lock will be taken off so that I can have access to my available funds and she looked at notes and told me there hasn't been any updates that she can tell me and on my file but that I should be able to go into the branch and they can assist me. i told her I tried that twice and they can not help me. She said there's nothing else that she can tell me.

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying my homeowner 's insurance within my mortgage payment monthly since XXXX of XXXX. I have not missed a payment. My homeowner 's insurance renewed in XX/XX/XXXX. I have been paying my mortgage and insurance payment each month. XXXX XXXX came through the end of XXXX. Immediately after the storm I called my insurance company to make a claim. I was told at that time that my policy was cancelled in XXXX of XXXX for nonpayment. I immediately called M & T Bank ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and asked why the insurance had been cancelled. They stated that they sent the payment put but it had been returned. When I spoke to the insurance company, they stated that they had made several attempts to communicate with the bank with no response. When I asked the bank why they had not notified me they stated that they had sent a letter in XXXX. I explained that I never received a letter. Subsequently, after this conversation they did send me a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX that my insurance had expired. They stated at that time that hazard insurance is required on my property, they were planning to insurance for my property. They did contact me with their insurance department on the XXXX and I submitted a claim for the damage. I have received a letter from XXXX dated XX/XX/XXXX with a claim number but the policy number is marked unknown. I have since spoken to the insurance company and have been told that they can not move forward until they hear from the bank. I have called the bank several times after this conversation with the insurance company and no one knows anything about having to contact the insurance company. Furthermore, this will be a new policy and they explained that they are not sure that they will be able to cover the damage from XXXX. Now XXXX has come through and made things worse. The bank will not take any responsibility for their mistake. Further, they have been taking my insurance payment for 9 months and not paying the insurance premiums.

Consumer Complaint: This is a direct violation of so many U.S. codes and ethics. I was in covid forbearance with M & T bank and was told there would be no negative reporting to my credit report. Well on XXXX XXXX they reported negative marks on my credit report which has in turned caused me and my credit a lot of damage. Right in the middle of a work out they violate my consumer rights this way. We have already decided to obtain counsel and file suit against M & T because this has caused damage to my credit in such a negative way. This direct violation of 15 USC 1681a ( k ) ( XXXX ).
