Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: ADVERSE ACTION DATED XX/XX/2022 Recently, I XXXX XXXX was denied an extension of credit by KEYBANK On XX/XX/2022 you submitted a credit card application, I applied for Preferred Credit Line As you may be aware, it is against federal law in accordance with Equal Credit Opportunity Act to proclaim an adverse action against a consumer. Pursuant 15 U.S Code 1691 ( C ) and you assume civil liability pursuant 15 U.S Code 1691 ( K ). KEYBANK has violated my federally protected consumer rights : 1. 15 U.S Code 1642- No credit card shall be issued except in response to a request or application therefor. This prohibition does not apply to the issuance of a credit card in the renewal of, or in substitution for, an accepted credit card. 2. 15 U.S Code 1681M 3. 12 CFR 1002- A refusal to grant credit in substantially the amount or on substantially the terms requested in an application unless the creditor makes a counteroffer ( to grant credit in a different amount or on other terms ) and the applicant uses or expressly accepts the credit offered 4. 15 U.S. Code 1691-It shall be unlawful for any creditor to discriminate against any applicant with respect to any aspect of a credit transaction. Since the letter you sent me dated XX/XX/2022 is both proof and evidence that I have been discriminated against, you are also criminally liable. KEYBANK should resort to reasonable procedures to rectify this affair and compensate me for the use of my social security number. Otherwise, this would be considered an unauthorized use since I have received NO BENEFIT. Following this initial attempt to rectify, I will be sending an invoice to collect actual damages for said violations. BEST, XXXX : XXXX Without prejudice, all-natural inalienable rights reserved.

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low
Subissue: Overdrafts and overdraft fees
Consumer Complaint: I rarely use this account and it seems that due to that fact, Key Bank feels that they can charge and continue to charge my account for overdraft fees. I was charged an overdraft fee due to the fact that I made a direct withdrawal for my credit card payment, but because the account went into a negative balance because of how Key Bank rearranged my account transactions, I incurred a {$33.00} overdraft item charge. I was informed by their supervisor on XX/XX/22 that this would be the only way that I would incur overdraft charges. This being due to my not opting into overdraft protection since the account was opened. However, upon checking my account just the next day Key Bank did the same thing again. Yet, this time they rearranged the posting transactions in my account so that I would be charged XXXX overdraft fees, one of which they refunded as they knew it was their error because I wasn't opted into overdraft protection and therefore should have never been charged these fees in the first place. So, I have now incurred {$77.00} in overdraft fees that should have never been charged to my account due to my opting out of overdraft protection.

Consumer Complaint: I stupidly sent {$210.00} using XXXX from my account at Key Bank to an email address on XX/XX/2022. I then realized this was a fake job scam. I did a live chat with a Key Bank representative on XX/XX/2022, asking if the transaction could be reversed and my money restored. This person said no, there was nothing Key Bank or XXXX could do to help. The bank should offer customers some sort of insurance in such cases, just as credit card companies do.

Consumer Complaint: My landlord emailed me on XX/XX/XXXX and asked me about a check from XXXX that he believed was not deposited. I asked him to give me a few minutes to research it. I emailed him back and told him that I wrote the check on XX/XX/XXXX and that he deposited it on XX/XX/XXXX and if he needed proof to let me know. I never heard from him. On XX/XX/XXXX when I was checking my bank statement I saw that he cashed that check in the amount of {$1600.00}. I immediately tried to call him and it went to voicemail. I went back online and took screenshots and texted him to show that he already cashed that check. Still no response. I called my bank who researched the information and confirmed that this check was already cashed 2 years earlier but I needed to wait 2 business days to get my money back. How can a bank cash a check that is XXXX years old? My landlord knew this was cashed, I told him and I have the proof on email that I told him it was cashed yet he still cashed this check causing my account to go into default.

Consumer Complaint: Key Bank National Association USA. Claims that you can opt out of overdraft protection from the checking account they offer. Here is the problem. If it is an under key bank terms an " authorized payment '' it will still allow your account to be overdrawn. and you will still be charged an erroneous {$38.00} overdraft fee which was {$33.00} i guess that must be adjusted for inflation. You can not offer or claim to offer a service of rejecting overdraft and still allow " some '' transactions to pass through and then charge the unwitting consumer. this is the closest thing to smoke and mirrors financial fraud i have ever witnessed.
