Consumer Complaint: My brother passed away on XX/XX/2022 without a will. I have been appointed Administrator of his Estate. I found a Key Bank debit card and took it to a local branch in XXXX, WA. I was informed there was no account attached to this card and it was issued by WA State XXXX XXXX and I should contact Unemployment which I did. The agent also said I should contact the Customer Service number on the back of the debit card. I went to the local XXXX office and they said it didnt have anything to do with them. I called the Customer Service number 4 times and spent a total of 6.5 hours waiting to talk to someone which didnt happen. I went back to Key Bank 2 more times and tried talking to a manager, with an appointment but was skunked. They said the same thing, I had to talk to customer service. At one point, I was able to find out the funds on this card but it expired at the end of XXXX. My partner called a number he found and talked to a Key Bank agent in New York that told him no one was answering the Customer Service number any longer and I found out Employment Security doesnt use Key Bank any longer for the debit cards. I have talked to XXXX XXXX close to a dozen times. I was given an email address a couple of days ago by an agent to again try to contact Key Bank to resolve this issue but the outcome is unknown. A Key Bank agent from XXXX OH called me a week ago to tell me a Regulator would be contacting me as I filed a complaint with Key Bank but I havent heard from them. Key Bank is negligent, I believe in this matter and I am filing a formal complaint.

Consumer Complaint: The fake Military guy, XXXX XXXX, reached me through my XXXX, said he is an Orphan, parents died XXXX old and was adopted by a priest, half XXXX & XXXX, and was a loner. I am older than him so he asked to be my brother. I have XXXX for a long time because of my violent marriage & go through a divorce now so I thought I need a friend/brother, he said he had XXXX too so we help each other. Suddenly he said he need to send me an important package to family of his Military Certificates & rewards through a delivery company XXXX XXXX XXXX with a tracking number, the rewards included a lot money inside. He will pay me back the fees I help him pay. I promise I just take back the money I paid fees and keep his money save until he got home in a month. I was XXXX completely following all his directions plus an delivery agent contacting by emails and text messages. The fake package was a security box traveling XXXX XXXXXXXX to US going through so many stopped by the fake Airport Authorities. They requested huge payment to get through gates {$5000.00} for across the border, {$10000.00} for Duty Stamp, {$47000.00} for Non-Inspection certificate just to go pass the Inspection. I was XXXX using all of my savings I saved for years to help a brother I believed a soldier in XXXX who need familys help. After paying all of my savings, the package is 90 % reach me, then they said the delivery was stop by FBI. They scanned and see all the money inside for {$440000.00} something and requested for Anti-Drugs certificates & Anti-money laundering Certificates for {$240000.00} to pay in total or they will put me into jail I told them I dont have any money left and I am a victim here. My brother even pretended to ask his Superior to help contact with FBI but they still requested payment. I told them I am totally broke & XXXX losing all the money I had paid {$63000.00} total before. They still insist that I will be in jail for money laundering. Long-short story about my crazy stupid Military romance online. I hope and wish no-one got XXXX and scam like me. I am in so much pain & depressed now and dont know what to do

Consumer Complaint: I opened a secured credit card in XXXX with Key bank for XXXX XXXX XXXX the following year in XXXX I closed this card with a branch loan officer on XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX They list the account as XXXX on the file with XXXX and XXXX and XXXX show a different number. I have disputed this for three years I closed the account in good standing with a XXXX balance and they continue to show as a charge off with a balance of XXXX. I have sent letters documentation letter from loan officer who closed the account stating as I did in good standing and yet the Agencies ( credit reporting ) fail to correct this. This needs to be removed completely as this is not only false but severly damaging personally.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 my car was broken into and my pocketbook was stolen. I immediately canceled my credit cards, including the debit card associated with my Key Bank Checking account. On XX/XX/XXXX a fraudulent check was written in the amount of {$2600.00}. I noticed this on my online statement on XX/XX/XXXX and immediately went to my Key Bank branch to let them know. I was told that the money would be in my account within 24 hours, then I got a call saying it could take up to 90 days, then got a letter in the mail saying that my claim was denied. First reason was that I filed the claim after 30 days, then the bank manager said it was because in the affidavit that I signed I listed my checkbook as one of the items stolen. I was never advised to close my account down at that time or I would have done that. I really thought that by canceling my card my account would be safe. I have a copy of the check and its clearly not my signature. I feel like Key Bank robbed me all over again. Any help you can provide would be SO appreciated!

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I requested closure of my prior Key Bank checking account originally opened in XX/XX/XXXX. I was told it would be closed in 1 -2 business days. On XX/XX/XXXX, more than 1 year later, I opened a new Key Bank checking account and met all requirements to receive a {$200.00} bonus for making a {$500.00} paycheck direct deposit into the new account. Key Bank has failed to issue me the {$200.00} bonus. When I asked why, I was told that my prior Key bank account had not been closed until XX/XX/XXXX in their system and that since it had been one year since I had last had a Key Bank account, I was ineligible for the bonus. This is utter nonsense because I requested closure of my prior account on XX/XX/XXXX so it should certainly have been closed more than 1 year prior to opening the new account. If my account was in fact not closed by the bank in their system until XX/XX/XXXX as they claim, that is entirely their fault for taking excessively long ( 16 days ) to close the old account ( I had been told it would be closed in a few business days ). There was no activity on my end that kept it open after I requested closure on XX/XX/XXXX. They obviously just want to cheat me out of the bonus. But I should not be penalized for their slowness in closing the former account. Further, I note it is literally exactly 1 year since they say they closed the old account vs. when I opened the new one, so they are being absurdly unfair and splitting hairs by one day - WHICH AGAIN SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE BUT FOR THEIR INCOMPETENCE. I'm sure if I owed them money, and was 15 days slow in paying, they would me accountable. Based on the facts, I clearly closed my former account MORE than 1 year before opening the new account, and therefore have met all their requirements and should be issued the {$200.00} bonus.

A few days later there were more XXXX charges to my account. Someone had used the new number without authorization. I do not have any type of account with XXXX and do not want anymore unauthorized charges. Consumer Complaint: Consumer Financial Protection Bureau RE : Account Type, Line of Credit Account No. XXXX Key Bank, Headquartered in XXXX, OH, subsidiary of KeyCorp Date Opened XX/XX/XXXX Status : paid, closed Sir/Madam : I write to request that the negative reporting associated with the above account be redacted in full. The line of credit account was opened with XXXX XXXX Bank in support of a checking account ( Account No. XXXX, now closed ). The purpose of the line of credit was to supplement the checking account. I closed the checking account in person sometime between XXXX and XXXX with XXXX XXXX Bank, the account was in good standing at closure with no balance due. At that time as well, I enquired from the account manager what if anything should be done with the line of credit account, as it was no longer needed due to the closure of the lead ( checking ) account. The individual told me that that there was no need to close the select credit account separately, adding that the select credit account would essentially become dormant in response to the closure of the lead ( checking ) account. The select credit account at the time of the inquiry was in good standing, with full credit available and no balance due. There was no use of the accounts following. XXXX XXXX Bank was subsequently acquired by Key Bank sometime between XXXX and XXXX. During that time ( as well ), I relocated to various residences, until purchasing a home in XXXX NY. I never received notice from Key Bank concerning their acquisition of XXXX XXXX Bank and/or their acquisition of my corollary account ( s ). Nor did I receive any notice of balance and/or payments due ( though such an occurrence would be unexpected due to the prior closure of the checking account with XXXX XXXX ). Fortunately, I happened to check my credit report sometime in XXXX, and noticed consecutive late payments being reported from Key Bank beginning from XXXX of XXXX through XXXX of XXXX for the select credit account. I immediately contacted Key Bank and paid what Key Bank alleged was due in full ( {$100.00} ). The negative reporting, however, has continued. I then met in person with a Personal Banker for Key Bank at the XXXX, NY branch on XX/XX/XXXX. After consulting with Key Banks internal Bank of Answers, she discovered that the checking account ( Account No. XXXX ) was assessed with a {$10.00} Return Statement Handling Fee in XXXX of XXXX. The XX/XX/XXXX return statement handling fee initiated an overdraft advance of {$50.00} from the select credit account ( Account No. XXXX ). The advance from the select credit account mushroomed into two consecutive late payments of {$25.00} each, applied in XXXX and XXXX of XXXX to the select credit account. Please see XXXX Statements for checking and select credit accounts, attached hereto as as Exhibit A ( showing assessment of {$10.00} Return Statement Fee, and corresponding {$50.00} draft from select credit account ). The statements were provided to me by the Personal Banker on XX/XX/XXXX. As an initial matter, I note that the closure of the checking account with XXXX XXXX prior to their acquisition by Key Bank should have stopped all activity on the account, to include the mailing of statement by the heirs or future owners of XXXX XXXX ( i.e., Key Bank ). Moving beyond the issue of the prior closure of the checking account, I was not a party to the acquisition of XXXX XXXX by Key Bank. As such, I never agreed to the new terms imposed by Key Bank, to include the imposition of a {$10.00} return statement handling fee. Indeed, there was no meeting of the minds, or agreement concerning the assessment of return statement fees between myself and XXXX XXXX successor, i.e., Key Bank. Thus, the {$10.00} return statement fee accessed by Key Bank was not a true debt owing in the contractual sense, this in turn renders the corollary and subsequent draft from my select credit account and the late fees potentially erroneous. Here, the fourteen ( 14 ) or more consecutive late payments that are currently being reported from this account ( select credit ) has a significant negative impact on my credit and does not equate fairly with the circumstances which gave rise to the negative reporting.
