Consumer Complaint: I graduated from XXXX XXXX University and had taken out a private loan through Key Bank. Since XXXX I had been current on my payments. In XXXX of XXXX I was discharged from a bankruptcy and throughout the entire time I made payments to my loan. In the beginning of XXXX I became behind in payments. I called Key Bank the beginning of XXXX XXXX to get my account up to date and I was given the worst run around from there on. At first I was transferred to a woman from their law office telling me they never received my discharge papers from my bankruptcy ( from XXXX - which is not my responsibility seeing as how student loans are non-dischargeable ). She then told me my account was on hold and to call back in a week. I did call back in a week and I was refused payment numerous times by their employees, sometimes I was transferred to the " charge off '' department and sometimes they transferred me to their XXXX party collections who then said they were n't handling my account. On XXXX XXXX I called and was informed my account had been charged off, with no notice. It is my right to be given notice. They told me they had n't been able to give me notice because of my bankruptcy, but my bankruptcy was closed in XXXX of XXXX. After much persistence I was finally put in touch with XXXX XXXX who handles their bankruptcy cases. I called him several times in the beginning of XXXX and he always said he would call me back but never once did. I sent a written letter to Key Bank outlining my troubles and asked for a written letter back but have heard nothing. I have no information of who is handling my account now because as soon as they charged my account off I could n't make payment on the XXXX XXXX Borrower website where I always made payment. I am upset because my dad is a cosigner on this loan and now this is affecting him.

The promotion details indicated use direct deposit for {$500.00} or more within XXXX days to get the {$250.00}. I called once I had completed the required {$500.00} and was told yes i have met my qualification and would get the {$250.00} within the next few months. I emailed yesterday inquiring about how long it is taking to get my {$250.00} to ensure it is still on its way and was told I did n't meet the promo criteria because it is a single direct deposit for {$500.00}, not direct deposits combined to equal {$500.00}. I called to advise this is deceptive and has now caused harm in my inability to do a single deposit for {$500.00} to meet the qualification as the window of time has past. The representative told me that I did qualify when I spoke with her today, but when i pushed for clarification she did confirm it needed to be XXXX transaction of {$500.00} or more. XXXX I have called and been told yes i qualify, but finding today I actually do not. This is deceptive and unfair as now I am not able to fulfill the terms, due to misinformation provided by key bank.

I left my wallet in my locked room as I would be going out to celebrate, did not want to take the chance of losing it, any credit cards or important papers or ID, s. I was only carrying cash for the weekend., Monday morning ( XXXX/XXXX/2015 ) I was getting things ready to leave with some people I had been with over the weekend. I could not find my wallet in my travel bag. I called key bank the issuer of my checking debit card before ( left message ) and as soon as they opened ( no later than XXXX am ) I spoke with XXXX XXXX teller at main bank ( XXXX ) we put a hold on card, at this point I had no idea were it may be.I was hoping I had somehow misplaced it some place. I walked over to branch bank of key bank close to motel and they called XXXX XXXX who verified who I was and I took {$300.00} out of my account as my entire wallet was gone and I had no ID, and my other master card was gone as well. Upon going back to motel I ran into the maintenance man who asked me if I had gotten my card back, that he had found it and had turned it into the office the day before. I went and retrieved it. I decided to stay another night, Visit with these people. When I awoke the following morning I could not find the card, it and the XXXX people I had been with most of the weekend were both gone. Now I had called and changed pin on my other mastercard issued by XXXX XXXX that day and found out it had been cleaned out of ( {$840.00} ). So please keep in mind that I had XXXX different cards missing and used. And was dealing with XXXX separate companies both who were asking a lot of questions and were trying the best to confuse me with a lot of reworded questions, and implicating that I had somehow been responsible for all of this. I later went down to the office at XXXX XXXX and had a somewhat heated argument with manager that her or her house maids had been using my card before I had gotten it back. And had it taken again when XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX and XXXX XXXX left. Manager at motel called police and had me arrested for the disturbance. I went to jail had to see judge I wrote key bank ( care of XXXX XXXX ) explaining my situation and sending her notice that I could not file report while in custody, and to put hold on card again, give me my balance, she never wrote me back. I could not file a police report from in jail it is against their policy, I even wrote the detective bureau, also no reply. when I got out of jail I filed police report implicating those XXXX people. I got printout of card transactions they had used card in XXXX as well as clear up in northern XXXX most of. wich was while I was in county jail. I sent and filled out fraud claim papers sent them as well as my arrest due to trying to get answers about my key bank card being at XXXX XXXX sent paper showing I tried to file police report while in jail. disputed all the obvious transactions and sent them to a XXXX XXXX at card fraud services XXXX ext. XXXX card fraud services/ XXXX XXXX XXXX/ XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. XXXX XXXX most correspondence I sent certified letter as the sent most of their letter with deadlines to me late. The denied my claim as I have called them many times they have shown no professional courtesies. always somehow twisting words and trying to make me feel it was somehow my fault. I asked them many times to just get pictures from the ATM and their they would have their man or men. they would not even do that. after telling me that by filing police report that would be how I could obtain pictures of person ( s ). It is more of a principle issue at this point as the think they can walk all over whomever they please as they feel they are too big to be challenged. thank you so much -- XXXX XXXX XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I have been diffuculty paying {$600.00} a month of ontime payments to XXXX private student loan, from Key Bank, for nearly 6 years now. I pay $ XXXX monthly in total student loans. Last year, I came under a hard ship and begged for assistance from Key Bank to no prevail. They suggested and harrased that I should not pay my rent and other essential bills to get caught up on their payment. They called daily and threatened me and my cosigner ( who just had a baby and could not assist ) that they demanded payment. I asked for them to lower my payment to a more reasonable amount and they would laugh and hang up on me. I then would call and ask for time to get caught up on my payments. I would call and beg for assistance and finally contacted someone with a heart. They offered a short term deferment and let me go two months with out payment, but interest still incurred. I found out quickly that the derferment that was promised was never processed I nearly defaulted. I again was promised a two month derferment to bring my accountaccount to only 2 months past due. I had to fax over paperwork XXXX times because the paperwork kept going missing or was not processed correctly. During this time I contacted key bank daily and begged for assistance but they only demanded payment. I went to many key bank locations and talked to many branch managers who said it was wrong what they were doing to me, but none could offer assistance. Finally, XXXX branch manager gave me XXXX XXXX 's ( CEO ) corporate phone number and said to call and explain what had happened. I called and was given to a customer care specialist who listened to what had happened. They saw that I made years of on time payments, but their only suggestion was to default on part of the loan instead of the entire thing. Luckily, in that time I was promoted and received some assistance from a family member to make nearly a {$3000.00} payment to bring my account current days before the loan defaulted. Key Bank has never been helpful and has been down right rude when it comes to their student loan department. They no longer service student loans so the only people you can talk to regarding them work over seas and will hang up on you regularly. There is no such thing as customer service at Key Bank. Especially, if they know that they have you by the throat with a signed promisnary note. I 've never asked to not pay this student loan and understand I am liable for the remaining balance. However, I needed assistance and was given a run around to be threatened and hung up on multiple times. In sum, I learned that there is no assistance with my private student loan that I pay nearly {$7000.00} in annual interest on even during a dire hardship. Even if I have years of on time payments. In the end I only had more stress and a huge hit on my cosigner 's and my own credit. I pray that I continue doing well and can make on time payments because dealing with Key Bank is worse than anything I have ever done before. When I read what best describes my issue the ca n't repay my loan and dealing with the service both are what wrong.

I am on a graduated payment plan, but it is about to balloon more than XXXX the amount I am paying now and they said I have no options. I explained I am a single mom who is currently homeless and with a XXXX ( staying with friends and family ) and would n't be able to afford {$400.00} per month. My net income last year was XXXX. My XXXX may be able to support that much next year but not this year. They refused to refinance me. They said I do n't have any options. It feels illegal and wrong somehow. I 'm still willing to pay I just ca n't afford that much right now. I 'm begging for your help.
